During the 6 years I had my WRX I always wish I had a STI. Now that I have a STI I couldnt see myself going back. As a daily driver i can say a WRX is a little more comfortable to just get in and go, in the STI its more of a raw and mechanical feel that could seem less comfortable especially since ive changed out most bushing and mounts. It truly depends if you have the funds to afford the STI, insurance, gas, and other maintenance things like brakes.

he didn't even mention the most significant difference, the handling, STI got the goods with front LSD, center DCCD diff, and rear LSD, and WRX got open front diff and open rear diff with electronic vectoring using brakepads 😅

Exactly brother. Me going from the 2017 WRX to a 2020 STI is awesome. The overall driving experience is better to me in the STI. I never thought that Subaru would not ever make an STI.

The Wrx was definitely better for a daily commuter. More comfortable, far better mpg around town (stock for stock) also a good degree more reliable, it was also nice that the Wrx comes with an oil temp sensor from factory. If it was an only car I would recommend the Wrx over the Sti as it’s more reliable, cheaper to mod to about 300-350whp and easier on the wallet for fuel. Now if you have a second car, the sti all the way. Better seats, better suspension, better awd system, 2 lsd, dccd, bulletproof trans good for 750 whp, better sounding whether you stay ulh or go to elh, cost more but has a much higher power ceiling. Better brakes and handling, better intercooler from factory. Maintenance between the 2 is pretty close especially if you use good fluids and parts, although some shops will charge a premium because it says sti on your car. Insurance didn’t cost anymore for me on my 21 sti than it did for the 2020 Wrx I drove previously. Mpg on the sti can be improved, good tune, and a fpr can go a long way. On 91 my stage 3 sti will get about 17-18 mpg city and 22-23 freeway. On e85 that’s a different story hahah about 14-16 city 18-20 freeway.

Had a wrx before I bought my 21 sti and I couldn’t imagine ever going back to a wrx , the sti is better then the wrx at literally everything except I’d say MPG . If you can afford the sti get it , it’s miles better then the wrx .
If your on a budget go for the wrx but if you have the funds go for the sti . But do not ever go for the cvt if you can only get the wrx learn manual . The cvt is absolutely terrible and shifts terrible and they go out prematurely .

One key area the Wrx wins out is longevity. If you drive both and maintain both the same, the Wrx will likely last an extra 40k -60k miles over the sti before it needs a rebuild.

Question for anyone. I purchased a 2019 WRX about 7 months ago. I want to do a lot of work to it, but the first thing I want to do are the brakes. A big brake kit is going to cost you $5k right off the bat, so it sounds more reasonable to just trade up to a 2024 WRX TR. The brakes, seats, and sound system alone balance out the difference in cost, of what I'd be spending to upgrade to the TR. Any thoughts?

I couldn’t justify the cost of a used STI and not knowing its true condition being used . 3 it’s one thing to afford a reasonable payment but most young buyers ( me @ 50) factor in insurance and daily maintenance that most forget and suffer from shiny objects and just say I want it ! lol , however my question is what is insurance like on west coast cause your gas prices are stupid high ? 😂🎉

Comfortable but with some above average performance. I think a WRX is perfect for that. It even makes a good small family car being a 4 door with a roomy trunk and back seat. I love my WRX. I think STI’s are awesome but I’ve never regretted choosing the WRX instead.

I love both WRX and STI. I also own both but I treat my STI like my weekend car and my WRX as my daily. I can say it's hard to choose between them both because they both deliver in their own ways. Plus my STI has very low miles and I'm trying to keep it that way . It's bone stock 8k miles 😂.

I love your STi more than your WRX. I have a 2018 STi bought brand new in 2017. I have tons of mods done to my car and love every minute of it. I would smile every time I would drive it, my 3 year old son loves it which makes me happy. It has full bolts and on flex fuel right now running e85, it’s amazing to drive. I feel like if you want just a quick car and make it a show car then go with a WRX, that way you can put bags on it and slam it whenever you park the car. My STi is sitting pretty low on Fortune Auto but I also have supporting mods for the suspension. STi is for race and WRX is for show is how I see it. But I have seen quick WRX’s though, not so much FA20 but obviously the older WRX’s with the EJ motor.

Stick to Cheveron especially if your car is tuned for higher octane fuel. It tests truer octane vs other gas stations where, say 91 octane, will test closer to 90 or even 89. Chevron is usually more expensive, but that's why

😂... I love both of them so idk if there's a need to decide. Since My pocketbook is in the dumps, I guess a WRX, Automatic too!---Only because I enjoy driving and Not working To Drive. I work too much as it is, I feel like working a stickshift, a clutch, and the basics are a Huge turn off and More work. Turn the key, put in gear, and go!!!!!😅.... until I park.... that's how I like it! 👍 Oh, And Racetrac/Sam's club is the gas station I go to.😉

I had a 2018 WRX for about 2.5 years before trading it in for a 2018 STI. Honestly, I do really prefer the STI because of the sound and the performance, but I have had alot of issues with it since getting it (probably because I'm the 5th owner of the STI whereas I was the 2nd on the WRX). Even with so many issues, I would definitely stick with the STI. Wish I would've kept my Varis wing before trading it in, but hey. You live and you learn.

@@chris_borges When I first got it, the engine jumped timing and had to be rebuilt the day after I got it. (That was like 6 months ago now?) Got it back after 2 months and had a bad o2 sensor. Then, last week, my power steering belt broke and my crank pulley got warped. Currently waiting on a new crank pulley. But other than that, my STI is stage 1 w/Cobb intake, straightpiped exhaust, and an HKS bov so at least it makes good noises when it runs 😅

I think the difference between the two cars is the power ceiling potential, if you want more than 400whp get an STI, because the WRX 6 speed can't handle the power when compared to the STI 6 speed,

I bought my sti back in 2020 and it was 33k with 15k miles for my 18 base and the non recaro seats are terrible 🤣 me and my friend make jokes about it sitting on plywood. I drove in a sti with the recaros and that’s the way to go the top portion of the seats are way more comfortable for the price difference they should have been included alone but of course they have to make more money. I own a 2020 wrx got it for 25k with 27k miles and don’t miss my sti for the 15 mpg I would get miss everything else but one day I will sti drivetrain swap my wrx. I find it crazy to buy one now unless it’s stock and not modified I happen to get two that haven’t been modified meaning tuned but my sti definitely had a catback since it had a crazy leak around the mid pipe.

I had 2 VA STI’s before now owning my VB. WRX is a better daily and the STI is a better analog drivers car. If I could go back and choose 1 as a daily driver, it would be a difficult choice. That’s a testament to how good the VB WRX is (for its price).
If you’re a WRX owner, yes the STI is special but your/our cars are dope too 🤘🏾
