    I've watched Smeedia build his VA STI into the monster it is today and watched all his VB content. He sadly has mentioned he's not into FA engines and loves his EJ's, and recently sold his VB. So I'd definitely watch you build/Fix a VA and mod up your VB. I'm sure there are probably people out there that would as well! Especially those VB drives like myself

    So from my experience, I traded in my 21 STI for a 20 Supra, drove it for 2 weeks and traded that in for a 23 WRX Premium. Supra was my dream car, drove smooth and fast and had the looks. On the other hand it was auto and it got boring very quick despite the power it had. I concluded I can DD a used civic to work if I wanted a Auto. I could not justify spending 50k on a car that does the same thing as a civic to/from work. Please if you can take a supra for a few days to see what its like to daily, the hype wore off fast and I was stumped, personally if you own a Supra keep the wrx to fill the manual void when you need it. I get more enjoyment out of a manual even if the VB is ugly. The second I drove off with the WRX it felt normal and right. VB makes great power and a few simple cosmetic mods will change it to look better. Tint goes a long way on these cars. So far I'm at 800 miles and can't wait to rip it after 1k break in!

    Even Subaru Motorsport USA and VSC haven't switched to the FA engine for their cars yet. They're still running EJ based engines. In Australia, it's the same story - many of our rally drivers are still running EJ based STIs.. Compared to the STI, the VB has lifeless steering, an engine hobbled by emissions standards and some pretty weak brakes. Nice as a tame daily driver, but if you put one up against an STI, its shortcomings become very obvious.

    The STI is king when it comes to High HP. It from a racing and power delivery stand point It has port injection compared to the WRX Direct injection. Because of the injector complexity and cylinder pressure it limits the fuel delivery with the FA. You have to add additional fueling which means motec and thats ~7k not to mention you will still need a STI drivetrain to handle the additional hp.
    Now power is not everything but 400hp which is what is shown the FA can really make under FBO conditions is going to be slow…. Slow compared to most cars in its class if it they FBO.

      Um 400whp is not full bolt in with a VB. The VB can make 400whp on the STOCK fuel system and can also run ethanol on the stock fuel system. 400 hp is attainable with a TMIC, intake, cat back, mid pipe and a tune. You can’t do that with a VA STI, sorry.

I don't have a STI, but I'm pretty sure STI owners like EVO and like my GTR care about amazing handling, that's why they have front limited-slip diff, center active DCCD/AYC/ATESSA diff, and rear limited-slip diff. Unlike the VB that uses front open diff and rear open diff with brakepad torque vectoring straight from the Crosstrek and Forester SUV. But 90% of VB owners don't know that and it still handles amazing to them though so that's good.

    Of course, buy the cars that YOU want to own. But as far as content goes, RUclips has plenty of VA builds already. Dustin Williams just did the most extreme VA WRX build possible a few weeks ago. It has an IAG engine done with videos at IAG and a Varis widebody.
    Of course Smeedia and Devin Nemala have entire catalogs of top tier Subaru builds. MotionAuto Trevor just bought an ‘11 hatch and is talking about going all out with a built engine and whatnot. The list goes on.
    If you want to stick with Subaru then get an imported JDM GC8 STI or build a USDM GC8 2.5RSTI. Those would be super entertaining to watch.
    If you want views then a GR Corolla, Integra Type S or the new Z would be the cars that haven’t been done to death already. Supra build series were already a thing that people got tired of like 2 years ago. You might be able to still get views with a GR86/2nd gen BRZ if you do a very nice build, or a GT86 if you do a very extreme build with an engine swap.

    You can get a very nice low mileage sti for less than 40k and everyone always talks about the power power power. The sti has great brakes, a much better transmission with lsds the dccd, with a great gearbox that is actually enjoyable to row through gears, hydraulic steering that has much more feel, oem suspension gives good performance and looks good at the stock ride height. Not to mention it looks better and sounds way better. (Vb owner here) using the power argument is silly because the sti has so many other good qualities. You can buy an sti put an exhaust on it, intake if you want, tune it and you have a beautiful sounding car with great feel, great handling, looks good, and has alot of personality. In short if you buy a nice sti you can do minimal modifications exhaust and tune. The VB doesnt have the steering feel, yoi need to spend alot of money for good breaks, you can make power but the transmission is a weak point and the gearbox feel is weak as well so you have to modify that, it sits too high and only really actually looks great when lowered with wheels thats more money plus the power mods an exhaust and tune. Thats alot of money and there is more than just hp can you make my 2000 em1 handles better than my vb, you can feel what the tires are doing, the gearbox is better and while it may have 160hp its way more fun to rip around than my vb. My GR hatch intake exhaust tune was faster than my vb and much more fun to drive....so idk why its always about the power and the sti is not equal in price to a supra which btw doesnt have four doors and cant be enjoyed all year during all seasons and all weather unless you love down south soo long rant but i disagree...some key points were missed here

      The VB is better than a VA STi. It’s just a better car as a daily driver. Just as fast as an STi, better suspension, better chassis, and a way nicer interior. The tranny on the VA STi is better though, I’ll give you that.

    • @alec1658
      @alec1658 9 месяцев назад

      @@SuzukiKid400 well, some of this is opinion surely. It definitely is a more comfortable car. It does have a better chassis but to bring out the best in it, you need work. My point is stock for stock an STI is a better performance car(not talking straight line) it is more engaging, it has more feel and aside from reaching 330-400whp/tq with a few mods, without the transmission, drivetrain, brakes it is lacking alot. The hydraulic steering, the lsds do alot handling wise. Aside from making a ton more power you can buy an STI throw an exhaust on it, tune it and a few minor swaybar modifcations, swaybar mounted to the chassis etc a few simple things and your set and the sti has alot more personality but don't get me wrong if the VB came with the STI drivetrain, brakes, adaptive suspension, if you could actually get a MT with recaros a more power stock even around 310-335whp it would be amazing and would probably outperform the type r, the GR Corolla etc. but they really messed up imo. The powerband is nice, it does handle very well but it has very little steering feedback, stock it is very bland it isn't engaging that 6k redline is aweful, brakes etc etc. if you just want alot of power easily well I understand or if you want a more comfortable daily with a little fun and you say its faster or just as fast as the sti thats not where im coming from. I'm talking about driver input, feedback, feel, and performance the STI has put of the box you can buy one and do very little and have a very fun well performing car and the VB may be faster but around a track the STI is still going to perform better around a track doing laps. I like both I just am disappointed the VB needs so much to get there. I'm very focused on the driving dynamics and feel of a car and less on power, power is important but I'd take an STi with an intake, DP, exhaust and tune over a VB with 350-400whp/tq because after all that money on an intake, tune maybe exhaust you still have brakes and alot more $$$ to spend. I wish to God they put the STI drivetrain, brakes, and from factory gave it 310-330whp id never let it go i can easily overlook the styling for that but all of it combined its disapointing we have to spend money to make it look and perform better and void the warranty to really bring out the fun hidden inside the vb
