To avoid breaking the somewhat fragile stock transmission, we put this guide together. With camera angles inside the footwell, see exactly what you need to do with the clutch pedal and throttle for a perfect launch.

    I’m on the fence about tuning my vb . At the moment I’m more that satisfied with the stock performance . You have demonstrated launch control and flat foot shifting clearly removing my previous thoughts on damaging the drive train . At the end of the day like always that will depend on the driver not abusing this function as you described side stepping the clutch. Thank you from down under and keep up the great content.

    This was SO nice and clear to understand!!! Now I feel confident about using these two new features. There's a lot of good info here. I wish you had showed the boost gauge there instead of MPG... Who cares about MPG while you're trying to show boost build up lol. Really love the sound
    clips too, ya'll had everything

      Really glad to hear that you enjoyed it! Sorry about the boost gauge, that is something I probably should have changed. This car makes about 20psi peak boost. Thanks for the comment!

    Hey all, leaving my anecdotal experience here. I compete scca autocross in my fbo va chassis, and hard launched my car 30+ times a month on 200tw for a year, without any issues. Sure enough, pretty much opening competition for the next year, broke something on trial run number 1 😅. I suspect it was the center diff, but I haven't dropped the Trans yet to verify anything. Be safe out there subie brethren.

    Just got back from flat foot shifting my 2023 WRX with help from this vid. At first i wasn't letting the clutch out fast enough and it was doing some weird little grab when the clutch was fully out from not letting it out fast enough. That scared the poop outta me, but I started kicking the clutch faster and seems good!
    Side note... My OTS tune from another company now makes 18psi instead of 17psi after this update. Wondering if anyone else noticed their boost go up while flat foot shifting.

      Glad the video was helpful! The FFS feature should not really increase the boost but you make see a split second where it spikes a little higher than normal.

    I did this once at 5400 RPM and it went well. I then tried it once more about three minutes later and she went into LIMP MODE immediately after letting go of the clutch. I’m guessing my RPMs were too high? This is what I was set at on my 21 STI. I also had an ACT setup for clutch kit. Thoughts? It sounded like a loud whistle before limping mode. Pulled over immediately and turned off car and let rest for five minutes. She stared back up fine afterwards. The CEL codes were still there of course but have since disappeared after some normal driving for some time.

    Is it possible to just use cobb ap and order a tune that keeps everything stock but allows me to flat foot shift and launch control? I want to keep my warranty in tact so i dont want to tune my car just yet but would love to have these features.

  • @luvhcchris
    @luvhcchris Месяц назад

    I originally thought for FFS, you’re supposed to put the RPMs at the peak of your redline so it bounces off the limiter at WOT? And then when you clutch in, your revs drop down and picks right back up at WOT and carries boost.
    If you look at all the vids on RUclips, everyone’s got it set to hold the revs at their redline or closer to 7k rpm. Same with all the info back on NASIOC. Lots of folks recommend 6500-7000.
    Have we all been doing it incorrectly this whole time lol??
    Edit: I’m an idiot and so are all the other guys on RUclips. Your method is the correct way 🔥🙏🙌. The high rpm setups are just for the sound and aesthetic at the cost of being way harsher on the drivetrain lol

    • @boostcontrolledperformance1523
      @boostcontrolledperformance1523  Месяц назад +1

      Sounds like you figured out the difference between the two. Setting it to redline is pretty much just not using FFS and is what we call “power shifting” 😅

      @@boostcontrolledperformance1523 haha thanks! Now I know why everyone is destroying their trans. I’m retuning my car next week and going to ask for the launch and ffs features.
      I’m prepared if things do blow up as I have a 19 STI trans on standby. Wonder how it’ll do with my ETS turbo kit! 🙌🤞
      Thanks again for the vid. Was super helpful!!

    Best result is to actually semi ride the clutch out as your coming off …. To slow of modulation, you smell it… you’ll know your sweet spot because you’ll feel like you rode the clutch, but if there’s no smell, you didn’t.

    Hi,
    This launch is safe for stock 22wrx Or its safer with a tune? I mean changing the gear with flat foot on gas, i never tried this kind of shifting, really cool man

    • @boostcontrolledperformance1523
      @boostcontrolledperformance1523  Месяц назад

      It would be just as "Safe" on the stock power level (if not safer due to less stress on everything) than with a tuned car, but you must have a COBB tune to utilize it. Thank you for the comment!

      I’ve been driving manual transmissions for the last 32 years. I can rev much with my eyes closed eating a cheeseburger with a side of fries while sipping a Coke holding up the steering wheel with my knee…I drove my friends FL5 Civic Type R with a rev match on and it’s a really cool feature. I wouldn’t mind having it my own car.

      Similiar to the 15-21 WRX 6 speeds- Surprisingly weel depending on how you use it. The issue is these FA24s can make ALOT of torque, which is what does the damage. My bet is that STI trans swaps are going to become very popular.

    So I might get some flack for this, but FFS, and launch control is cool but to complete this puzzle couldn’t we get rev matching too? I know, I know… you can do it without programming… but more and more car are coming factory with it on there more “driver” oriented cars and it’d be nice to get the option. Just a thought don’t kill me.

    • @boostcontrolledperformance1523

      Rev matching is a very cool feature found on some cars, but it would be rather challenging to add to the WRX.

      You might be trolling but let’s discuss anyway! Calling a car slow is all relative. Based on your content uploads I can imagine being a gamer you are used to unrealistic expectations (total assumptions btw so forgive me). In the real world this red car has ran a 12.63 @ 110mph without launch control or FFS when it was making about 30hp less. Is it “fast”? Not really. We build 7 sec GTRs at our shop. But it’s not slow by any means. This car is still fun to drive and many would agree!
