Honestly I don't think the V8 is even the biggest issue. If it was a full EV with that performance it would have sold at least a little better. The issue is that it's just the worst of all worlds, there's nothing good about it. It's heavy, probably actually not economical at all, sounds like crap and just doesn't offer anything worth having. 1/4 mile times are great for Carwow videos, but we're well past peak useful performance - I daily drove a 981CS which does a 12.7s 1/4 I believe. Being faster would just have meant less time hearing the nice sound, that's 1 downside and no upside since "faster" isn't useful, nobody cares if a tuned Golf R beats it off the line, since nobody has noticed the Golf was there, whereas an old E-Type next to it would make the much faster Porsche anonymous in the same way. This car makes me so ranty 🤣

I always had myself either an M3 e92 and then upgraded to an E400 coupe however last year I was ready here in Australia to get a E63 coupe yet did I realise that they don’t make them so I was forced to get a E53 as it’s the top spec little disappointed but after owning the car for 9 months and a tune up I’m getting close to 650hp now and 0-100km in 3.8s however she drives like a monster and is well planted being 2.2tons as well for a coupe hahah😂

If it weren't for the soft limiters that audis have, most of the time, the audis would sound better. unpopular opinion but, most modern BMWs sound pretty bad. The Audi R8 v10 needs no introduction, the 2.5 5 cyl sounds fantastic, and this 2.9 V6 definitely sounds better at open throttle than the BMW (and obviously the Merc lol). Back then, however, AMG engines had glorious sounds.

I’m a big fan of mercedes, but for this one im gonna go with the BMW. For Mercedes, at least put a V6 on that C63, not a small f*cking b*st*rd 2 litre engine. it's not always a matter of who is the fastest, but how fun the car is to drive. and the 2 liter engine does not provide a pleasant sensation, especially the sound.
C63s 4cyl doesnt sound half that bad. Its by no means as good as his predecessors, but its not bad at all. They should've had called the C63 dead and badge the W206's as C45's..
RS4 with just 450hp and it is making such performance, imagine what adding 30-50hp out of a higher pressurized turbos would do, just like the rs6 and rs7

The issue with the C63 is the fact it's already highly strung in terms of engine performance. Lightly tune the M3 and it will leave it in gappistan and the tuning potential of the S58 sends it into hypercar territory
As an Amg fan we know full fact merc knows they messed up with that 4 cylinder. And the v6 will come in place for that so imagine the v6 with that hybrid set up🔥🔥 When msl gets hold of it it would get left in gappiland

It’s that they are misusing the C63 name for a highway rocketship, which is not what a C63 is limited to being; they’re a complete experience, to include the exhaust note. Mercedes F1 invented the MGU-H, Porsche figured out how to adapt it to production vehicles, and AMG still uses heavy ass hybrid system and decide to balance the weight by using a 4-pot engine. SMH 🤦🏾♂️

@@njw1840 You cant read, can you ? I said « weight doesn’t matter too much » not « weight doesnt matter at all ». A difference of 400kg will just ruin your performance in the corners, but in a straight if you have more horsepower (and especially more torque) you are going to win regardless. (Also depending on the way that extra weight is distributed it might even help you with traction)
@@AwfuThings BMW does have that weird kind of thing with specs where it is pretty much the only brand to over deliver. So that 510 hp might be more towards 520. Whilst Mercedes usually under delivers where it is towards 660 to 670 probably on the dyno. Similar story with torque, and BMW tend to be lighter than they say whilst Mercedes is heavier. So that gap might also be somewhere to 450 to 500 rather than the 400 that is being said. And BMW tend to pull a bit better at the top than Mercedes. It might not be enough to topple this much of a difference. But if the BMW is around a 50 hp to a 100 hp disadvantage it can still eek out a win.

Screw the V6. The fake 43 AMG and 53 AMG are for those turd engines that aren't real AMG models. They can make a 2.0L turbo for the 43, some mediocre V6 for the 53, and stick with a V8 for the 63 AMG.
@MrModikoe it has always been underpowered. But, for being 60hp down on the BMW and 230hp down on the Merc, it didn't lose by that much. If Audi releases the next RS5 and it loses to thsee, I am switching allegiance. There is no way they can have all this data and still make an inferior car, like Lambo did with the Revelto not beingbas quick at the SF90 that has been out for a while now.

For me it's less about the cylinder count and more about the exhaust. A 4 cylinder engine can sound really nice imo, I do think the car would be improved with a much nicer exhaust. Maybe I'm just in a minority, I dunno
Well Talking about reliability is a bit boring now. These 2.0 engines are bulletproof. They use materials that can take this power easily. Does Not change the fact that it‘s a boring engine without emotions

Saw a true 6,2L V8 in an "old" C63 two days back. It sounded marvellous. No aftermarket exhaust, just pure joy. Tbh, the new C63S performance e-turbo hybrid next gen ultra what-so-ever could have 1.000 hp and I still wouldn't want to have it. My X5 M50d from 2014 is just 100kg heavier than the C63!!!
It's all to do with regulations. They make so many Trucks that put out high emissions, that they had to put a small engine for the C63. Luckily the CLE63 Coupe (which is basically a C63 coupe) gets the V8, but it will sound very muted from factory as they have to do so much work to get it through the latest emission regulations. But still the V8 is a V8. Luckily the C63 is one of the few AMG models that will have this 4 cylinder configuration. The E63, AMG GT and the likes have the V8 option.
Fun Facts: Mercedes nicknamed the 2 seat SL the Tank, for it's weight and extremely solid construction. The World has named Mercedes little AMG a Tank too, for literally tanking the product, tanking their reputation, for tanking their sales. When a Tank isn't a Tank.
The C63 really impressed me here, I thought its huge weight and 10s peak electric power limit would spoil it vs the M3 but it has delivered. Aside from the tiny engine and lack of AMG emotion, if it were ever 200kg lighter it would have been an absolute weapon.
Owned the E55 with the 5.5 litre twin turbo, modded it and wish I had never sold it. There is no replacement for displacement...in the hearts of car lovers.

The C63 battery pretty much constantly replenishes when in race mode, so this scenario is irrelevant. I get the hate for the name etc, but you can’t deny the performance especially if you’ve had the chance to spend time in one.

Stuff like its weight for example. All the hate the new C63 is getting wouldve and couldve all been avoided with the E63S powertrain in it, rather than the 4 cylinder hybrid. Many thought that it wouldve been exactly that as the new C63S.
That's completely fiar remember that c63s e perf is two grades higher than the audi and 1 grade higher than m3, in thay case an m3cs would be fair game for everyone

A civic type r is what 320 maybe. That 156 more!!! Insane!!!
This power out of a 2 liter is really impressive. Or insane. I think it will run under really high compression, and needs the best internals you can possibly get. I would consider my 2 liter at this level a fully built race engine, not made to even get close to 200tkm.

The Audi R8 v10 needs no introduction, the 2.5 5 cyl sounds fantastic, and this 2.9 V6 definitely sounds better at open throttle than the BMW (and obviously the Merc lol). The issue with the C63 is the fact it's already highly strung in terms of engine performance. Lightly tune the M3 and it will leave it in gappistan and the tuning potential of the S58 sends it into hypercar territory

A difference of 400kg will just ruin your performance in the corners, but in a straight if you have more horsepower (and especially more torque) you are going to win regardless. (Also depending on the way that extra weight is distributed it might even help you with traction)
@@AwfuThings BMW does have that weird kind of thing with specs where it is pretty much the only brand to over deliver. So that 510 hp might be more towards 520. Whilst Mercedes usually under delivers where it is towards 660 to 670 probably on the dyno. Similar story with torque, and BMW tend to be lighter than they say whilst Mercedes is heavier. So that gap might also be somewhere to 450 to 500 rather than the 400 that is being said. And BMW tend to pull a bit better at the top than Mercedes. It might not be enough to topple this much of a difference. But if the BMW is around a 50 hp to a 100 hp disadvantage it can still eek out a win.

It's all to do with regulations. They make so many Trucks that put out high emissions, that they had to put a small engine for the C63. Luckily the CLE63 Coupe (which is basically a C63 coupe) gets the V8, but it will sound very muted from factory as they have to do so much work to get it through the latest emission regulations. But still the V8 is a V8. Luckily the C63 is one of the few AMG models that will have this 4 cylinder configuration. The E63, AMG GT and the likes have the V8 option.

Stuff like its weight for example. All the hate the new C63 is getting wouldve and couldve all been avoided with the E63S powertrain in it, rather than the 4 cylinder hybrid. Many thought that it wouldve been exactly that as the new C63S.

This power out of a 2 liter is really impressive. Or insane. I think it will run under really high compression, and needs the best internals you can possibly get. I would consider my 2 liter at this level a fully built race engine, not made to even get close to 200tkm.

@@Lemingtona-x5g it wasn’t😂 the performance of the older model was underwhelming. This has over 600hp and 1000nm of torque with an electric motor to give it extra boost, that’s why it’s doing better

In the case of a), what 1 in 10? or maybe 1 in 30 owners?

The lower torque and bhp RS4 covers the needs of '9 in 10?' , .... '29 in 30?' drivers just as good as M3 or C63 drivers :)
Personal preference is either of the V6 twin turbos over the V4 whatever it is.
