      @@petermuller2583 I think Stellantis execs care less about what happens to Dodge than what they will have for dinner. Same with this for Mercedes, low volume gimmick cars, that's why they experiment on them. So, the car is massively heavy, has a four-cylinder hybrid and won't even do 7 miles on electric-only. Disappointing in every way. But the lighting is fancy. That sums up modern cars.
      That interior is hideous. Those screens will date horribly, and they are preposterously over-sized and look stuck-on as an afterthought.

      I'm glad it has a 'track app.', though because a lot of these will spend a lot of time on racetracks. Along with Volvo V70 estates and buses.
      I saw this shortly before I FFWD'd through the 'screens section' as I now habitually do on Doug's reviews - am I the only one who does that?

    I could be wrong but I believe that they switched to a hybrid 4 cylinder because the Turbo V8 just by itself would not pass the new Euro emissions regulations coming down the pike.
    Yes, the other AMG 63 cars have a V8, but they are also hybrids for the same reason: Euro emissions. For the people saying “Why couldn’t they put in the V8 hybrid from the new S63,” it probably wouldn’t fit. So we got this instead.

    • @TheFugitivesSeries
      @TheFugitivesSeries 4 часа назад +1

      That doesn't explain why they couldn't do a turbo 6. The issue is they skipped over that and went too drastically low in cylinders

  • @KNRS927
    @KNRS927 6 часов назад +6

    This car is just an example of taking hybrids and small displacement engines too far. It might drive amazingly, but just doesn’t embody the spirit of AMG for most.
    Also Hagerty has done drag races between the C63 AMG, M3, and Model 3 performance and the BMW usually won, with the C63 finishing last. So even with all that power, weight, turbo lag, and complex engine likely hinder it.

    • @desertsandfly2277
      @desertsandfly2277 3 часа назад

      Sadly that's the problem with most car companies today. It's all about the performance numbers and how fast a car can go.
      It's no longer about the driving experience and actually feeling the intensity from the roar of an engine as you drive faster.

    • @KNRS927
      @KNRS927 3 часа назад

      @ I mean if you want to downsize go for it, but sometimes it can go a little too far. They downsized 10 years ago swapping that 6.2L for a 4.0L V8 but that V8 was done so amazingly that it felt bigger than the prior engine, still sounded amazing and had a visceral feeling to it, and just you didn’t miss anything. In this case, they went from a V8 to not a V6, but a V4. I could’ve forgiven them for going down to a V6 since they’d probably do a turbo V6 really well, but a 4-cylinder with all these extra components and weight, just feels weird even if it handles well.

Good to see that we're finally catching up to the rest of the world. Lastly, the air intake flap and hood vent both are functional and necessary. Jason Camissa and Doug Dumuro have just polar opposite views of driving dynamics when it comes to the model 3 performance. Hmmm??? Which one do I trust.

      One of these really drives the cars at 11/10 while the other doesn't, at least not publicly. I think you can guess whose side I'm taking ;)

    Wow amazing that Mercedes was able to continue it's long history of producing extremely over-priced, very bland looking, overly complicated, unreliable cars. If this had a Kia or Hyundai badge you'd never know it was a Mercedes. Mercedes and BMW have really lsot their way in designing unique, interesting, attractive exterior designs it's almost like their teams have given up awaiting the EV's to take hold there is nothing about this that screams modern European, expensive >$100K car

    Doug DeMuro is just a huge Mercedes fanboy! He even says the car handle so well given its weight. That’s ridiculous! No AMG needs to be given qualifiers for handling.
