i think the moral is, if you have a mustang it's best to only roll race it. Probably better for the crowd too because its usually at slow speeds they plough into the crowd.
For the automatic mustang, you put the transmission in sport mode, select your gear while staging, once you take off, put the transmission in auto. Auto will shift better than you can.
@@AaronRobinProductions well, when you expect the paddles to engage the next gear quickly, that can happen. If Ford cant have the timing to be predictable, its a car issue, not a driver issue. Watching the clips of the RPMs studder is definitely a sign of a CAR ISSUE.
And the 475-480 these M2’s make at wheels go straight to 720 ish after nothing more than a tune and a little e85 in the tank with regular petrol. That’s about 800 crank. No other platform makes such gains with zero bolt on parts.
Run that shit back. There is no way the Mustang could lose by that much. Racing driver sam was not doing it right he kept hitting the paddles and messing up the way the car shifts naturally and he didn't change the drive modes.
It does lose by that much. I personally raced my 2024 m2 with my friends 2024 dark horse. He lost by a car length and that has even more horsepower then the gt
BMW underates their power and the advertised hp is to the wheels in the worst conditions. Ford lists max power at the crank in ideal conditions. Mustang loses every time. Shit even my 2015 BMW M3 was advertised at 425hp/425tq and dynos at 475whp.. and that's stock.
Yeah, I know that bmw always lies about their power output, but still, it should have been a bit closer than that. Ford ain't no slouch they have strong racing heritage.
@@harinderjit34 With the Ford, you're either buying a collector's edition (DH, 350, super snake) or you're buying a platform: you can bolt whatever the hell you want to it and it'll only ever get faster. That is: that's the fastest that BMWs ever going to get, and that's just where the Ford starts.
Maybe if the guy knew how to drive, put it in automatic, warmed the tires, put it in drag mode, and didn’t run 40 psi in the rear tires maybe the mustang would stand a chance.
Something I'd love to do with my 2019 Mustang GT premium 6 speed manual, is take it to a custom shop like fat house fabrications in illinois, where with enough money they can give you 1800 wheel horsepower with 108 octane fuel. They rebuild the engine with better parts and replace 3 pages worth of parts so the engine won't tear the car apart. The massive displacement plus the awesome factory designed fuel delivery, just loves forced induction.
For roll racing, keep the Mustang in Drive while in Drag mode and downshift to the gear you want. It will hold that gear for around 10 seconds so you have to time it well. Punch it and the transmission will automatically upshift at redline. Dont manually upshift, you either shift too early or bounce of the redline. The paddles are not responsive enough to be using them in a race.
@@alpe6228Not true, the last gen made 450 horsepower on dyno so if the new one has a extra throttle body then of course it’s going to make that power, also the port was the bmw makes more power

So what's the excuse for the Mustang not shifting into second gear properly then? 4:29 shows he put the car into drive and it still didn't shift properly.
A guy at work had a uk 5.0 mustang and I’ve got a stage 2 S3 with a dsg. He literally bet me £100 to a race from a dig down a half mile. I was £100 richer. I’m sorry but those American cars might sound nice but they just can’t keep up with entry level German whips.
For still less than M2 money, install a Whipple Stage II Supercharger Kit on the Mustang for $8,400. This kit boosts Mustang's horsepower to 825 HP and 640 lb-ft of torque and will blow away the M2 at either track or dragstrip. To avert the Mustang 10 speed trans sensitivity, just order the Mustang with a 6 speed manual.
That Mustang just needs an engine and transmission tune... Remember Ford uses a very conservative timing curve they leave a lot on the table from the factory.. Getting it on the dyno is less than $500 and you'll have a total difference race...
The Mustang does have launch control and you shouldn’t be shifting a 10R80 yourself. Move the gear shift from manual to drive as soon as you take off in a roll.
I have a dmax with 4jj and single turbo swap at 62psi (including atmosphere) and the 6speed Aisin box. Probably 380bhp 1000nm and can rip my face off taking off from a standstill in 3rd gear. I dont like to do it too many times but it seems to take it no sweat. 1st and 2nd are pointless on it now it goes through them so fast you're rev bouncing it if you even give it more than about 20% throttle.
I might be wrong but I believe the m3, m4 and M2 all use the same or similar rear assembly, like the diff, axles and so on. Also, that zf8 gearbox with that engine is not light. Its quite heavy. 1.8 is a bit rough though.
BMW has been slowly making their M-cars less focused on raw driving performance, and basically luxury fast cars. Meaning more sound dampening, more luxury materials, more stuff in the cars chassis to prevent the drivers from feeling any real harshness that these cars would typically hit you with. BMW assumes the target demographic for these cars is just rich people going to the mall. All that added luxury adds weight, apparently like an extra 400-500 lbs but it is what it is.
Go look at their stock dyno graphs, and you'll see the S58 reaches peak torque earlier in the rev range and holds its almost throughout, while the 5.0 ramps up torque and peaks mid range then drops off.
As an owner, there is something clearly very wrong with this Mustang and this is not in keeping with the brand. It certainly sounds like one, there is no denying that.

The G15 840i (RWD) weight's pretty much the same. :D
