What a line-up!
We’ve got our hands on a BMW M8, AMG GT 4-Door and a Porsche Panamera Turbo, and these V8-powered behemoths are about to go head-to-head over the quarter-mile!
However, these are no ordinary German powerhouses. They’ve all been tuned, and are now kicking some serious additional horses over their usual performance stats! So let’s take a closer look at the numbers.
Starting with the BMW M8, it’s powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8. This would normally kick out 625hp, but this has now been increased to an almighty 800hp! It’s the lightest car here, at 1,980kg, and the cost of the car new coupled with the tune comes in at around £143,000.
Alongside it we have the AMG. It’s packing a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet, which would usually put down 639hp, but this has now been increased to 740hp! It tips the scales at 2,045kg, and it’s the most expensive car here, costing around £154,000!
Then finally we have the Porsche. Normally its 4-litre twin-turbo V8 would produce 550hp, but this has now been increased to 740hp - an eye-watering 190hp increase! It’s the heaviest car here, mind, weighing in at 2,080kg, and with the tune the car costs £113,000.
So will the more powerful BMW snatch it? Or could either the AMG or Porsche claim the win? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

it's not. the race starts when the hands begin to drop, not once they have dropped. watch it at 0.25 speed. as the steward said, it's close but it's not a jump

And carwow is one of few channels that can make these sorta races happen. Wanna see it happen with the ones that can be bought from dealerships. If I could afford any of these, they wouldn't perform like this, it cheapens the experience.
Oh, and that's not what cars are capable of. Tunes are about what the owners are prepared to pay to make them go stupid fast. You can't tell me a mk 4 golf is truly capable of 1200hp and a sub 10 second quarter mile. Tunes are silly to me

To get close to 1100nm on a 4.0 you need a little bit more than 800hp, maybe closer to 900, they have more power than they advice

I agreed, I knew after seeing the stats the BMW would win overall but was surprised by the AMG in the drag races tbh. All that extra weight and less power.

@@zimih4625Nope hes right torque doesnt matter at all. What matter for acceleration is only HP wich is calculated from torque and rpm. Then there are other factors like weight, drivetrain loss, shift speed, aerodynamics, traction, gearing… The power figures of these cars also cant be 100% right, you would have to dyno all 3 cars on same dyno in same time.
