  • Over the years we have been in convoy with several people and, while it often goes without a hitch, that is not always the case. This was one of those times. The weather looked great. We had a destination in mind. And we were all set to sail to A Coruña. Fate had a different plan for us.

    Sir! I was taught never to whistle whilst underway because you'll whistle up a storm 😮. But I do love a cliff hanger.

    Very cool to run into your videos again, I watched you religiously prior to my purchase of my boat.
    I just passed my 10 year anniversary on her purchase,
    You inspired me to produce my own RUclips channel which I did for 7 years.
    I now have you subscribed
    Great to hear both your voices once again.
    I’m Canadian currently in Thailand
    I `have 43,000nm under my keels ( catamaran)
    I remember your sail from Ireland 🇮🇪 on someone else’s boat.
    Another kind of funny small world thing; my girlfriend sailed on Avalanche from Kiribati to Maui 6 years ago

    Hi Drake! I was out paddling Portland (ME) Harbor yesterday and thought of you. With a little searching, came across your channel! OMG, amazing. I've got some catching up to do, but is so nice to hear your laugh again. I also saw Geoff in one of the end credits! What a hoot. Safe travels and if you ever find your way back to Portland, look me up. All the best to you guys!

      Hi Zach! So great to hear from you! :) I've lost touch with almost everyone from the good old days at The Screen House. Ya, we've got a bunch of videos with Geoff in them. You can find them if you search for "DrakeParagon Strombus or DrakeParagon Gloucester". Strombus is his beautiful wooden schooner that he has in Gloucester. We haven't been back to the US since we pushed off from Gloucester in 2013 to head to Greenland. Geoff had a going away party for us at his house.. Here was that day... Geoff's building the fire... (starting at minute 12... ruclips.net/video/yu01UoO7SAo/видео.htmlsi=nGCF_t_iTMNJncbW&t=805) We will come back to Massachusetts someday to stay for some years, but it will probably be several years before we get there. But when we do it would be great to see you! - Drake drakeparagon@gmail.com

    As I remember you towed another solo sailer (it was the first sailing vlog I watched) whatwas that 8 years ago? Anyway you both fell asleep annd drifted into each other. You were just being helpfull but that guys boat was huge and broken down. No sails or motor. I remember it cost you a bowspread at least!

    What’s the phone mount you use? That’s handy.

    • @drakeParagon
      @drakeParagon  14 дней назад +1

      Nothing extra special. There are a lot of different suction mounts for iPhones. Here’s the one that I got: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B09TB8FVRW?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

    • @drakeParagon
      @drakeParagon  14 дней назад +1

      But it needs a perfectly flat surface for the suction part to work. It works well on top of our glass covered solar panel.

    anyone going offshore should have extra impellers and be able to replace one if that is indeed the issue. sorry, painful to watch someone who doesn't know basic engine fixes, i mean the junk rig girl. and i originally found and followed your channel from the nightmare boat tow episode when you were going to i think the bahamas? so this is little de ja vu

      I certainly was having flashbacks of back when I towed that 52 foot boat for over 100 miles towards Bermuda back in 2009! But that was a very different situation than this time. Hazel from sailing vessel Alanouwoly is an extremely capable, knowledgeable, skilled, prepared, and experienced sailor. She's sailed in all kinds of conditions and competently dealt with all kinds situations in her voyaging that has taken her from Germany to Norway, Denmark, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Spain and France among other places. She's actually got a lot of videos on her channel of her work on her engine, and if you'd like to see then she also explained what actually happened with this overheating in her videos on her channel ruclips.net/user/SailingAlanouwoly.

      @@drakeParagon i stand corrected. i will check her channel out as the reason i follow youtube sailors, especially singlehanded, is their weather routing, and problem solving methods. one of the aspects your channel shows and i guess i was just responding to the clip of her that the engine is hot and then nothing else. thanks for the reply and look forward to pt. 2!
