Thanks for watching and now for a short advertisement: I've prepared a new limited-edition print run available at art.alluringarctic.com . These prints are only going to be sold until the end of August. Starting from $99, shipping worldwide, and with free shipping if you order 2 or more prints. These are really high-quality prints with the ink printed directly onto the aluminum panel! They look amazing, super happy about how they turned out! The print sales are actually a kind of a kickoff for our Northwest Passage project. After the end of August we should hopefully be busy dodging icebergs and polar bears in Greenland so I won't have the time to keep up with the webstore, and that's one of the reasons for doing just a limited-time run ;) Have a look at art.alluringarctic.com and I hope you find one you like!
At first I already thought: This is EPIC. Then, the drone shots came in Then, you went paddle boarding. Then, you went SKIING? What more can I ask for? It just kept on getting better!!
The skiing made me happy. You really distinguished yourselves. You are Hardy, energetic northerners, reminding me of my parents from Denmark. They used to swim in freezing mountain rivers and ski like you. Thank you.
flawduh ... so you've never served your country or you were Army (same thing). If you were Army, everyone knows that doggies are always humping doggies.
Rest easy bro. This channel is really great, for sure! You may also enjoy the Sailing Frenchman, a solo, worldly sailor. Very cathartic. I fear the deep ocean now, but it is really nice to watch. I haven't felt that serenity of calm sea for a long time.
Lifelong outdoorsman here. Sailor, bc snowboarder, surfer, base jumper, bow hunter you name it... This video is next level. The logistics are mind-boggling, tides, weather, avvy problem, topo mapping etc. Living the dream. Alaska is incredible, my most memorable experience was touring around Thompson Pass. Keep the adventures alive, you got a new sub.
As someone who has lived in the Yukon winter and sailed in British Columbia, as well as a Colorado Rockies skiers, what you two are doing is pretty amazing. Calculating the tides and marking it well. Smart and kind people to follow in this world. Thank you for this.
@@frankjoy2455 Yes indeed, I took a spring black bear in May 2024 from a bay next door to this one. There is the occasional brown bear that rivals those on Kodiak seen at their exact location. Bears are still asleep at the time they came through luckily.
I've faced enough life/death situations in the ocean to not really want to have anything to do with sailing and small boats but thank you for letting me live vicariously through this video.
Just randomly came across this channel and I'm blown away. I thought this guy is crazy to think he can put his boat there. Then I was surprised it worked and how it just stayed there. Impressive channel.
Just when one thought a vlog could not get any better this comes along...sublime. This is on so many levels very professional. The fantastic work on camera angles allowing the viewer to imagine they are there: at the same time telling a story without endless and repetitive narrative. Sohvi says so much by saying so little which is so refreshing to find on vlogs. Really the scenery is so spectacular and your drone shots of the vessel in such isolation are mesmerising. With such a high standard of filming just demonstrates why narrative and music are not only not required but an annoying distraction. Looking forward to the north west passage. Many thanks for you hard work in producing this. Sohvi’s favorite “Granite Cove"
First video I've seen from this channel, haven’t got to the actual beaching yet and I was wondering "how are they gonna beach a boat with a keel?" Now I realize
You truly are a very tough couple with a broad scope of capabilities. I'm glad that you exist, because I HATE cold weather, but I LOVE the breathtaking beauty of the place you went. Thanks to you, I can enjoy the beauty and wonder of that place and your adventures from the comfort of my home. You did such amazing camera work and took gorgeous pictures. You should be proud of yourself.
“Its so nice to sit on a very sharp rock” seems like such a lovely Finish way to express joy. Lovely channel to stumble across, looking forward to the north west passage,
The sense of adventure and fact that you are both so in tune with each other on your life adventure is simply amazing on so many different fronts. I am sure the off camera parts have a level of anxiety and anticipation but overall good on both of you for sharing what lesser people would ever try. Thanks again
Sohvi's favorite should be the one with the window. It's different from your usual ones, and talks about a home, not only a boat. A home with very nice, always different views from its windows 🤩
I can’t imagine how strenuous it would be to climb from the waters edge to the top of a mountain in skis. I wouldn’t make it 100 meters! Very impressive that you two are able to physically do that!👏👏😊😊
We had a Hurricane coming in, dug a shallow trench in the yard next to the house. Put the engine up, slid the boat off of the trailer, into the Cradle trench. Partially filled the boat with water, and pulled a hose off of a side port, so it couldn’t overfill. Flipped the Trailer over, and anchored it to the ground with rebar. It was an Aluminum Cabin Cruiser, survived with no damage.
First time i see this channel. Im not used to boats , i don't know anything about them...but i might learn a little . So amazing nature , and when people adapt , and don't complain , there is so much nature can bring. I easy support a channel like this. 🙂
This is a fantastic video showing a safety practice that most Boaters will never use in their lifetime, however when it is needed will prove invaluable to the few who utilize it. An excellent educational tool... and a reminder to reserve chocolate for those special moments! 😅
There's a cpl other good ones there just not on the water ATM But I do agree ATM this is the best channel on the water ATM and they have a very relaxing channel and content
I like these people so much, mostly because they are joyfully (basically) going after something extraordinary they really desire despite the risks and because they demonstrate such skill and grace and good humor as well.
I worked in the Chukchi Sea with several icebreakers, one was the Fennica! Also the Nordica icebreaker. And a Swedish icebreaker Tor Viking which rescued a mariner and his cat from a sinking sailboat. I was on the Aiviq icebreaker.
Absolutely wonderful! I love the serenity of your adventures. We grew up in Alaska, and my brother was born in Anchorage. I still remember the sky, the blue ice, and the moose everywhere! Thank you for sharing and your prints are stunning, I believe the "Dreamy sailing" is her favorite.
Aside from my interest in your homeland traditions, your ability to show off the remote locales is superb. Definitely the best channel for authenticity and relaxation. Thank you.
Your wife is a trooper, exceptionally helpful! My wife would have looked at me over her cup of coffee and just glared at me… to mean “Me? Run holding lines? No.” LOL! 😂
My guess is that Sohvi's favorite is the boat out in the bay „half frozen anchorage“ This was a fantastic video! Not sure how you do it, but you make the cold (and wet) somehow feel cozy.
Great video. I must say, I think you are the drone-shot master of YT. Of course the scenery helps, but still - they are truly beautiful. The BBC couldn't have done it better.
As a pearler/skipper working on a pearl farm in North Western Australia (Broome/Darwin) when Cyclones (Hurricanes) come in - upon high tide we take our smaller fleet boats into Port and way up the mangrove creeks into Cyclone moorings. On low tide, they're beached/grounded.
Sohvi's favorite: The aerial shot of Lumi front a distance with the fog and mountains. Capture's the essence of your adventure in Alaska. Thank you for all your great videos. Love your perspective and laid back jive!
It’s so nice to see you two spending quality time together! ❤ 16:20-16:44 Reminds me of my special one at home. You guys have great chemistry, are cheery and lighthearted. Lovely! 🎉 Peace be with you on your journey! ⛵️
Perfectly done. I imagine you have higher tides coming after the high tide you went in on. Such a secure feeling to know you can retract the daggerboard and beach the boat. Makes doing any bottom repairs in remote locations possible. Plus, you don't have to anchor a half mile out and do a long dinghy ride in questionable conditions to get to shore! I owned a 22' sailboat with a retractable keel and I loved it. If there was a sandy beach somewhere here around Juneau, Alaska, I've been on it. The boat was small enough, I could beach it on an incoming tide, tie a rope to the anchor, go to shore for lunch or to explore for a few hrs, then come back, pull the anchor and the boat to shore, and go somewhere else!
I think she likes the second big horizontal print with all the snow falling. Wow this was an amazing video. I was glued. Thank you for sharing your adventures, glad your subscribers are growing
Wow! I just found your channel and this’s the most interesting and beautiful thing I’ve seen in a long time and your pictures are incredibly beautiful so I’m going to follow you on with your journey! Thank you very much for sharing your story with us. Lee from Tennessee.

It’s always a beautiful thing to witness a unique ‘love language” in action! “Finnish Ice-Breaker as Spirit Animal” is definitely a new one in my book. You two make a wonderful pair!
Many of us here watching are living vicariously through your videos. We hear the sounds, see the images, but miss the tastes and smells..the whole experience. Seaweed, coffee, crackers and jam, and for me, imagining the heat coming off a cabin heater is the what I miss most. Cold and heat.
While visiting Antartica I saw a sailing vessel tied up the way you tied yours. Although there were no trees so the lines were tied to high poles - I’ve wondered about it for ages, now I get it. Thanks for a great video.
The knowledge is remarkable. It is always so satisfying to watch someone who knows what their doing accomplish tasks which would baffle the rest of us. The thought to do this would never cross my mind, of course I’m not a sailer, but this is next level. Amazing!!!
Love this, looks like you're having a great time. My wife and me had the same realization about SUP boards, we thought they were boring and lame but now it's our favorite way to explore the coast, and almost better in winter than in summer. Enjoy your travels!
Just stunning.. wow. Great if you have others to share with. I spent some time winter camping/hiking.. I have a feel for you. Another level better with a boat and can do it just about any where. ..and then sky back down.. pffft..whew..wee.
not that it's missing from this fantastic video - but it would be interesting to see a short cut of you drinking warm drink in the cozy boat, during that storm outside...
I think Sohvie's favorite print is the view out Lumi's window. Personally, my favorite is the long horizontal print of the aerial view with snow falling. Great plan to beach Lumi for the storm. I like how you inspected the seabed and set the first line in advance. Can you please show us on one of your videos haw you make the skis into a snowboard? You obviously have a way to convert skis into snowboard because there is no snowboard in your packs as you ascend and no skis in the backpack as you descend.
Sohvi's favourite must be the second picture, a sublime eagleye view through a lens of snow. You have a very unique way of being and living the experience. Thank you for letting us in.
Sohvi’s favorite is the one that you’re beached with the beautiful snow dusting on the trees. I must make a confession though, as much as I like all of them that particular one is my favorite.😊
You amaze me. I can understand why someone might want to live _on land_ in Alaska. I did that myself and loved it. But _living on a boat in an Alaskan winter_ is beyond my comprehension. You could easily sail that boat somewhere warmer.
I think Sohvi's favorite is the one looking out Lumi's window. It is a great photo even when not as vibrant compared to the others. You have such a talent dude, it is amazing!.
Wow, what beautiful views even though I’ve been living in Alaska for over 30 years, I never get tired of seeing all the parts of Alaska and someone who loves to do photography myself. It’s such amazing place to do photography at.
You’re jammin’. I once spent a stormy winter camp perched in a tented hammock. While the spot was in a protected swale the groan and cracks of the surrounding trees in the howling gale definitely made sleeping a challenge.
As a 30 year transplanted AK resident. I have done what you are doing, except on a M/V. New sub here, you folks are funny and great drone operations and capable of all that's needed!
I can’t agree more, more helpful information than rest of sailing channels combined. I knew when y’all bought this vessel that beautiful things would happen as a result and not let us down yet. Thanks for being real with us
Jeeze, that's scary. I'd mostly be worried about being pushed farther inland by a storm surge. I can think of a number of wave related problems. I see you calculated it all out though. Thanks for showing us!
I think the last picture is the one.the drone view with the mountains in the background is awsome. I'm surprised you haven't got eaten by a bear hiking through the mountains to get to the snow.
That setup in a gunk hole, ahead of weather in a tidal stream for shelter, is known as good seamanship. Keep the crew safe as first requirement and the boat, which is their place of shelter, safe too.

Are the prints waterproof as I would like to out one up in a bathroom?
I didn’t quite understand how Lumi was managing to stay upright. I know the full keel and skeg help but still she doesn’t go on to her side.
Amazing work. I think panorama one was the favourite of your wife. Christmas indeed.

It's great to see people with lifting centerboard/swing keels actually showing the capabilities of these vessels! 😄👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I still don't get why the boat does not swing to one side with so much slack on the ropes. Is the boat a dual-keel or ... ??
Right ! As kid in 80s I always see the big sails out water in winter. Lake superior always baffled me how the smaller ones could be in yards
Love my 26' Balboa swing keel, can beach it, but sometimes have to pick rocks and sticks out.

Thanks for being real with us
So technical and intelligent….plus the drone, tide, weather, dingy, wind, knots, 😅. You two are great ! Stay well, stay vigilant …Thanks 👍
Jeeze, that's scary. I'd mostly be worried about being pushed farther inland by a storm surge. I can think of a number of wave related problems. I see you calculated it all out though. Thanks for showing us!
Beautifully shot videos - well done! I'll say that the Granite Cove photo is Sohvi's favorite. Mine too!
