I think it would be a good "get away" "staycation" for you and your husband if you have an anniversary, you can separate from the kids for a night if you have a sitter for the kids in the house.
If you did plan on having paying guests, you could provide a "picnic basket breakfast " delivered to the cottage door in the morning. Filled with homemade goodies, like your sourdough English muffins, some butter and preserves, yogurt and granola, juice and water in a beautiful glass decanter. So many options. Just a simple lovely basket, and just shoot them a text when it's delivered and they can enjoy it and put the basket back out on the porch when finished and go about their day exploring your area with happy bellies.
Great idea. My main motivation to stay would be to be able to try Lisa's amazing food!

Your cottage is lovely, however I think an accordion door would be a better, more private option for the bathroom. I would also be very cautious about lighting the fire without moving the oversized chairs. It looks like your kids are already enjoying this delightful new space!
How about not add the tv, but have a deck of cards available, fun and quick board games and some other things like that which cause you to really enjoy your time without the need of a distraction. 😉 The little blue cottage turned out beautifully. Congrats!
Perhaps you can put a two panel louvered door on your cottage bathroom. The are narrow and fold to whatever side of the door frame you choose. It all depends on which side you put the hinges for the door. I think wood louvered doors are attractive and fancy looking. Your cottage is adorable. I can see your guests enjoying sleeping out there.

You've done a fantastic job, very cosy! If it was me I think I would have not had the arm chairs to make way for more of a kitchen/dining set up downstairs with a small sink and a small wooden table and couple of dining chairs ( which could double up as a school work/crafting area for the kids). The reason I say that is because you can always read/watch programmes from a laptop in bed.
Lisa, I am so enjoying watching your channel and learning so much! My husband and I love staying in places like this. Last year, we had the opportunity to enjoy 3 nights on a farm in Mulberry, TN which was owned by Jack Daniels' brother. We stayed in a tiny cottage which was the former grain house which was set up very much like yours. The owners would bring breakfast on a tray in the morning, and we spent our days happily exploring the property and visiting the animals.
with your guest book you should add a blank journal. its very cool to have people write stories of there stay there. we do that for our family cottage on our lake
Looks cozy. Keep your eye out for a nice floor lamp for behind the chair by the fireplace. I can just imagine sitting and reading a book by the fire.
Bravo! Don’t we all dream of a little “playhouse” that doesn’t have to be as functional as our real home? You did an excellent job on this little fairy cottage, and your girls will practice being “grownups” here. It would be a fun place for a sleepover some day.

What a wonderful concept. A guest house makes hospitality so much easier. At the drop of a hat, you can say, "Yes! Come stay!" And you don't have to do a major shuffle. And now that the world knows you have a comfy guest bed, I'm sure your guest list will be filling up!

I have been following this project and I am living this dream with you! Such a magical bonus space! Maybe you could add a mirror inside the towel rack over the bathroom sink (inside that oval cut out) then it could be both plus reflect more light? Also I've seen people put mini tv's inside armoires, is there room in the pie safe for that? Could be cute to tuck it away or just include a tablet for guests to stream on and store it there. I also really love the idea of not having one at all. Seems like the idea of that beautiful space is a quiet place to think and get away. It's charming and delightful. I love it so much. Great job. 😊

I was wondering about the same thing. I like a mirror above the sink to help when i put in contact lenses . Men who wet shave would welcome an over sink mirror too.

This turned out so nice! I always thought it was cute but it is so much brighter now! I love all the light streaming in now. I could see myself spending a lot of time in a cottage like this to do craft items.
In Hawaii these are very common, we call them an Ohana, which basically means ‘mother in law home’. This will come in so handy! Since getting married we’ve moved in with my parents twice, for a few months at a time between leaving our house and moving oversees, and even though we have an amazing relationship with my parents it can be hard having two families living together. If your kids ever need a place to stay during a move like that you’ll be set up perfectly to be able to help them! I love that!

Looks great! For the TV, why not invest in something like a Nebula projector. Your guests could use their own accounts to stream content and they could choose the main floor or bedroom to project the movie on a wall, curtain or screen? I've been thinking of getting one my self since I don't want to see a traditional television screen.
So lovely, no TV please, not needed in the cute relaxing place.

I think it's perfect, and finding the finishing touches will be so much fun.
It's fun to do a small guest cottage because it's like playing house again. You need the basics, but it's not as strenuous to organize as your actual household you need to live and function in with a large family that includes children and pets. It really looks just wonderful.

A kitchenAid countertop oven that would be perfect to round out the kitchenette if you would have the space. It's about the size of a microwave and fits a 9x13 pan if it doesn't have handles that stick out.

Lisa, I have watched your channel for years and am so proud that you accomplished your goal. Your cottage looks amazing. I also follow Hilary and love her style. I loved it when Dan built their mantle and book cases. He did a beautiful job. Your mantle looks great also. Enjoy your little blue cottage.
