Lisa, I love the shopping/ decorating videos. My whole house is decorated with antique furniture and dishes that I have purchased throughout the years. When people come inside my home they make comments about how beautiful my home is. People have also made comments about myself being rich. I am not rich. Everything I have bought has been from garage sales or estate sales plus the furniture my family never wanted. I have my childhood bed that once belonged to my aunt. It is from the 1940's. When my mom was downsizing her home my sisters did not want the bed. I love the bed. I have been told that I have a really good eye for decorating. You do as well. I am completely in love with the tall mirror and wash table! I am lucky to have a few antique pieces of furniture that were handed down to me...they are precious in my eyes. I recently lost my sister and was fortunate that her family gave me quite a bit of her things....the bowl and pitcher is similar to hers. It is fun to shop for unattached items and easier to part with if need be. Keep up the beautiful work!
🎉 I think you definitely need "a couple" tree like (big) plants in your living room. A ficus, fiddle leaf, monstera, or draceana. Or start with some plastic if your not a planty person just for an accent. 😊 A couple orchids would be real nice too!

Lisa! You need an old turned wood floor lamp with a large shade in your living room! They are amazing the light they cast and I know you are looking to draw the eye up in that room. They are really easy to find in Australia and I'm assuming once you look you will find them too from the 30's, 40's and 50's. They often went in the corner of a room with a wing chair beneath it.... Think man with a pipe and slippers reading the paper and kids playing quietly on the floor era.
The wash stand is amazing ! You can use the pitchers as you said for summer flowers and for the rest your porch comes to my mind. You could put it there in spring and summer and use the bowls either to put fruit in or to plant some flowers. They would reflect in the mirror nicely.
Love this. Girl, lamps and lighting is so important! Lightening into the evening needs to be quiet and calming. Helps your internal clock. Circadian rhythm is so important. Love this. Your finds are great.
Your home is beautiful! We love vintage and antiques also. We call our decor eclectic. It's all about finding things you love that reflect who you are. All the items are beautiful! I agree about the white lamp. My suggestion is to take the lamp with you to find the perfect shade. Pleated shades will collect dust in the creases. The quilt! ❤ And the wash stand has a place for a decorative soap dish or shaving mug.

One thing to add to your good comment about choosing things for your home....I have found that if you always surround yourself with things you love, color, pattern, pottery, furnishings of all kinds, you will have an outcome that pleases you and your family. I never buy anything for the sake of filling the need unless it's really lovely... not just okay, to my eye. Nobody else will live in your home. Just you!

As big as the room is you could bring the sofas in closer and put sofa tables behind with lamps. Everything in a semicircle like that makes it look a little like we are waiting for the meeting to start.
Great finds! I love the color and pattern of quilts, and that one is so pretty. You might enjoy some floor lamps in your living room. In our area, they seem to range $15-50 with nice shades , and especially the vintage brass ones are so attractive. We like being able to tuck them close to chairs or couches for reading.

I love all your finds. I look on Marketplace a lot and I do “save” my finds. I’m learning more about having a collected classic look, rather than just picking up everything I find that’s cute.
I cannot live with overhead lights . I love lamps, loads of baskets and am always picking them up. Sometimes I will paint or distress them. I also don’t like upper kitchen cabinets. We have vintage open shelves in different sizes and styles all painted Sherwin Williams “Biscuit” white all retrofitted with hardwired strip lighting at the bottom. Below are simple reclaimed lower cabinets with roll out shelves. Our ceilings are vaulted and the kitchen, dining and sitting rooms are open concept but the outer walls dont seem tall enough for upper cabinets IMO and I like to display my collected things. We used to have a Victorian Farmhouse which I adored but for our retirement we rehabbed a run down ranch home on heavily wooded land and did it in cottage style. I love all the old collected things we kept and they work with our “new house”. I have seen trends come and go but no matter what, I still love primitives, distressed pieces and refined things all mixed in together. It works for me and is so homey. You are still young yet and your home will evolve as you do. Lastly, you cant go wrong with good oil paintings and watercolors. I rarely have ever parted with them😉

I adore going to the flea market sales, too! It helps me to have in mind what I need vs the emotional shopper. I also like to shop for the seasonal touches.. Using things that I use to decorate, too. January I used some crystal dishes, then February added a strand of pearls, couple figurine and a pipe, gardening books... March I changed out to my vintage green bowls, Now with April I have tucked in children figurines of playing and books of spring! I've got my basics and just change the fluff... Keep us updated on all your treasure finds. Homemaking is the BEST... thanks for sharing with us💃
Quilts: as a quilter for over 20 years... the $65 price tag for that blue and white quilt...wow... that was a great deal, for one that is in great condition, nice design, and current colors....it costs way more than that, to actually buy the fabric and the thread/batting...never mind the countless hours it took to sew... nice find!
I had recently been thinking how some things find a place by mis-hap like a basket or a couch/chair and they suit that spot better than if I planned it.
I agree that lamps really add to a living room but I think yours are off-scale a little. Larger, taller lamps would give more height to the room and more light in the evenings. But your living room is very pretty and functional for a large family.
You might find larger scale lamps add interest in your living room furniture scape, a little hight keeps things from being all on one level. Love the quilt that was a great find😊👏👏👏

I would suggest looking for vintage alabaster and marble lamps. They would be beautiful in your house and can often be found quite reasonably.
