- I have no self contol when it comes to thrifting... if I feel the urge to go I will and I was lucky to find some true vintage gems again this time! I hope that you will find joy in coming thrifting with me, getting it delivered and setting it up in my 70's house.

I love these episodes where we don't 'do much' - though I think we do! We went thrifting and saw a kitty and went to the city shops and rearranged furniture... feels like a nice sunny day with a friend. I like all the videos you put out though, they're warm and comforting and fun. ❤

Elise: I will share a trick my Mom and I used growing up without my father: when we came home late or someone seemed "too friendly," we would reference "Dad." Unloading the car at night, we would give orders to my 2 brothers(who lived 1,000 miles away!) When a service or delivery person comes to the house, you can always say something like, "My brother will love it! He lives with me and this is perfect!"
I know you are smart, but you are so, so pretty it is best not to let strangers know you live alone.
As I am now older, I think I need to take that advice myself! And may God, who sees all, protect and keep you:) His angels are on duty 24/7!
Such a great idea. I too was worried for Elise. I had a problem with a guy coming into the shop I work in. One day he came in when I was not working and he was asking about me. My colleague, who knew about the problem, told him I was away with my husband for a few days. I have also started wearing my late mother's wedding ring.

Another trick I use for my answer machine is to have my recording say, sorry WE missed your call, please leave a message and we will ring back as soon as we can. This both suggests you do not live alone and you do not say you are not home but that you missed the call. No sense letting burglers know the house is empty.
Another thing is when getting your phone listed, especially as a woman, do not put your first name, use an initial. Like T Yeates.

If you don't find a matching handle for your new dresser, I would say that one option would be to remove the two from the top drawer and use one of them to replace the missing one on the second drawer. Then get two new ones for the top drawer that are in the same "theme". It will look intentional.

If you want to give the wood on your new chairs a boost we use a product called Liquid Gold which feeds and nourishes the wood and then we use a natural bees wax and it really makes the wood look beautiful and revived. We restore bits of vintage furniture in England and those 2 products are our go to products and don't cost too much.😊 The chairs are gorgeous.😍
Sarah, are you referring to Scott's Liquid Gold? When you use beeswax is it just bees wax or is there a specific brand? Would love to find options that "feed" my furniture. Thank you!

Use one of the drawer pulls from the top drawer to replace the one that's missing. Then get 2 new pulls for the top drawer. They can be similar to the others or completely different.

Your house renovations are okay ...but my main live of your FB showing is when you get in the car and drive yo the many thrift stores and find wonderful treasures for your house! I love seeing the countryside in your area and all the architecture and shops, etc. I also used to love the videos you made where you cooked! You had a cookbook and you would randomly select a recipe to try. And the cookies you make at Christmas time, and the pizza video you made. I love the honey, comforting feeling of those cooking videos. Your home is looking more and more beautiful, ad is your garden. Please keep thrifting and cooking! ❤️

Over a 45 year marriage, I have redone my home so many times I have lost count. Every time the pieces were thrifted, repurposed, repainted etc… I would completely finish a scheme right down to the dishes in the kitchen, linens and artwork. I was always cost conscientious! It was my “hobby”. I had been a stay at home wife so when an object I desired was costly I would find a job and work for what I wanted. My husband was so obliging and proud of my creations that he encouraged my every move. When I decided it was time to make a change I would gift my pieces to young people starting out in their life’s journey. Why not, I was only giving away my time and effort and it was a pleasure to see how my work was received. Nothing went to waste and nothing was trashed. It was an exciting way of life. I am now 68 years old, widowed, and still creating rooms I love.
For your TV, you could get an antique picture frame and mount the TV inside it in your brick wall. When not in use, have it show your favorite famous art!

If the new dresser matches the hutch. Paint it the same green and put the TV on it. That way it helps pull things together in your living room. The drawers can hold cds, books, etc
I was thinking the same thing. I think it would make a great tv stand and also because it matches the hutch it would seem like they are a set and they should stay together.

Your thrift shops are so full and full of beautiful things! The shops by me have pretty skimpy inventory. Buying second hand and people selling items themselves has become very popular making it hard to find treasures. Your garden is looking so lovely.
I feel the same way about the thrift shops where I live in Tennessee. Seems like it’s mostly just a bunch of jerk.

Yes, most of our ordinary chain thrift shops are definitely NOT what you'd call "boutique" quality, but they're still starting to charge serious boutique 💸prices on 💯% donated goods🤣.
I figure if I'm gonna pay a premium💰 for somebody's cast-offs that still need TLC〰️the store & items better be clean, attractively merchandised, w/a pleasant environment & staff to boot. Otherwise, I'd rather buy items at yard sales for a better 💲deal.
🤗It's important to enjoy our shopping experience. 😉Although not sustainably minded🌐, sometimes I would rather go to a mall & buy new stuff on season end clearance than shell out serious coin🪙 on old stuff literally crammed on shelves & racks that I have to sort thru w/others. 🤩It's different w/Vintage & Antique resellers who are actually selling a whole curated retail experience.

This one actually looked fancy compared to the only one that is near wear I live. That one is a warehouse type of thrift shop and is super dusty. Most of the wooden furniture needs woodworm treatment as well. I would love to have shops here like the ones she visits. There also seems to be an abundance of beautiful things there and she always seems to be holding back to not spend to much. Here if you find something cool, your lucky.

I would take one of the handles from the top drawer to replace the missing one, and add some lovely knobs to the top drawer for a contrast. You could look for some vintage, ceramic, floral knobs perhaps.

Painting flowers on the outside cement patio is a fun activity. There are paints specifically for cement at the paint store. Just an idea when you run out of things to do.

I feel so grateful for this video. I had a big shock this morning and once I was able to begin to ground myself a while later, I came here on purpose to Elise's latest video to watch something so precious, lovely and normal to help me breathe again. I brought my lunch too and sat enjoying every beautiful second. So grateful.
I love all your videos. Those gold chairs are a perfect addition. The plates are beautiful. They could be used in so many ways. The outfits were all lovely on you as usual. I just had to pay $100 for the delivery of an antique dresser and chest. But I have no car now either. My SUV finally gave up after 18 years!!! Please always listen to your inner voice and stay safe.I was a psych RN for 35 years. That little voice is 99% correct.
Fun finds! I like to use those large crystal cake plates under potted plants to catch spills and look beautiful!

Awww a kitty! I love cats. Those chairs were a great find and go so well with your other furniture. I love the glass plates. Plain clear glass is usually the safest to eat or drink from. Some paints and glazes contain metals that can leach into your food. This was a great video! I love to see thrift stores in Denmark, they are so much nicer than the ones here in the US. Your garden is looking so beautiful, and so are you. Trust your instincts with men, sometimes they may not mean any harm but if you feel uncomfortable there is usually something off. I liked this video very much, also I have a weakness for pretty dishes, too. It's hard to control my love for old [vintage] from '50's and before. Many, which I remember from childhood and early adult times. Not only lovely but good memories. That said, I'm trying to minimize especially purchases that are only pretty. Your only problem is saving for your own vehicle while having the fun of making your new home so lovely.
I think you would enjoy watching the chateau diaries. They are in France and visit alot of thrift stores and antique stores finding amazing things! They also are doing a huge renovation of the garden and a buildings. The garden and forest are amazing.

That chest of drawers would make a nice TV stand. It would more balance your living room space. Paint it a nice color and you can store your movies and media equipment in the drawers. Thank you for sharing your garden and decor too!

No need to apologise, some of us love the thrifting videos too. I love your cake plates and think that they are beautiful. I have a small collection of cake stands but a cake rarely sits on them, I use mine for fresh fruit displays and at Christmas I put candles on them.
Your new chairs look comfortable. You could get someone to hang the TV on the wall for you and the screen would be a moving art piece when you are watching it.
When you have a garden, it will never be finished because there is always something new to be done to it.

Yes! I'm always moving things about in my flat. Last week I moved a bookcase to the wall opposite my bedroom door, when I get up each morning it makes my heart beat faster and I give it a chef's kiss!!! There is always room for improvement. Thank you.

Those cake plates you bought to use as dinner plates I think would look so beautiful with a salad on them. You know the big kind that you just eat a salad for dinner.
If you can't find a matching handle which I wouldn't be surprised about, what I would do is transfer the top handle down as that has a decorative section and then used 2 matching handles for that part that harmonized with the other ones.
💛Loved the big glass cake plates, esp. w/the curved lip.🍴When I'm eating an entrée size salad🥗, I prefer a more substantial plate (or bowl) to be able to toss & chase it around w/o making a big mess😊.
As other's suggested, they would also make pretty charger plates under her regular dinner plates. Or, even a 🆒️ base for a large 3-wick candle or a trio of pillar candles in different heights🕯(if that's her thing).

Try using a clothes steamer on the gold chairs to revive the crushed appearance on the top - might help
Maybe for new chest of drawers buy new complementary hardware for top drawer and move matching hardware down to replace broken/ missing.
Before you paint the chest for your closet be sure to put shellac over all of them not in the wood. This will keep the tannins from bleeding through your paint. I learned this the hard way.

You will be able to drape afghans through the arms or over the backs of the chairs to set the season's themes and bring color to your home in that way.
