    I LOVED this !!!!
    You just broke one stereotype that city folk may have of homeschoolers, homesteaders and rural living, we do venture out, eat out, kids are well educated and smart and get to see and experience things outside of home !!!
    This video was so packed with fun I’m going to watch again, maybe tonight after I get some work done today :)
    Blessings
    I forgot to mention, we don’t see your children often so it was fun to see these 3 a little closer and I must say, they are beautiful !!! As a mom of adult children and watching the world get more evil by the day, keep those children close and protect them with your life 🥰

    • @gunnikr
      @gunnikr Год назад

      More evil every day? I don’t know, Spanish Inquisition, crusades, 6 million Jews killed etc…heck mixed race marriages and desegregation weren’t even legal that long ago. We aren’t perfect but the western world is MUCH better than it used to be.

    Im a Midwesterner and I went to NYC when I was 18. We were there for 4 days. I grew up in the country. It was a hard thing for me psychologically to realize no matter where I went, I couldn't get away from buildings, walls, and people. It made me feel unsafe. Ive come to realize that people that grew up in a city feel unsettled being in the country. We had someone visit out home and we told him we didn't lock our doors. He was flabbergasted.

    I was born and raised in the Bronx, NY and now I live in CT. I left after high school and never really looked back. I started to resent the city and really only seeing the negative things that happen there. I really loved seeing it from your eyes, it reminded me of all of the wonderful times I had as a kid growing up there. I had to take two trains and a bus to get to school in Manhattan for my whole life and I sometimes forget that, for most people, taking the train (subway) can still be new and exciting. So happy you and your family had such a great time, it really put a smile on my face. Xo

    I had stereotypes too. I went for the first time about 15 years ago and I thought I was going to see peopld break dancing on the streets with a boombox. Boy I was disappointed. Haha and I was surprised when I saw how small everything was too. Yes the elevators. And I also was delighted to see all the details in the architecture. That was a pleasant surprise.

    • @gabriellelue
      @gabriellelue Год назад +2

      I’m surprised you didn’t see people breakdancing on the streets. There are lots of street performers in NYC! They’re mostly in crowded places like Times Square though, so if you didn’t see those places that makes sense

    • @NicoleCB
      @NicoleCB Год назад +3

      @@gabriellelue I stayed in Manhattan. I don't remember the location but if you know the Cooper Union university, then that is where I was. It's not too far from New York University. I took the subway a lot but I also walked a lot too. I saw performances in the subway.
      The image I had was probably from movies from the 1980s where people were literally hanging outside their row homes or brownstones, (I'm not sure what they are called.) and break dancing in the streets for fun. I remember watching Sesame Street and seeing an episode that featured how to keep cool during the summer time. And I remember them saying New York City gets really hot and people open up the fire hydrants, so the kids could play in the water. And I remember seeing little kids having their hair braided on the steps outside their building. That was my image of New York. Probably from the late '70s and '80s. And maybe because I didn't grow up in the city I probably assumed that that was typical city life no matter the era.

    • @gabriellelue
      @gabriellelue Год назад +1

      @@NicoleCB ahh I see! Well actually you'll be happy to know that does still happen in NYC. I lived there for a few years, so it's definitely something that happens more seasonly. For example, this one neighborhood in Brooklyn called Park Slope always has kids running around with the fire hydrant spraying in the summer and other things like that. It's more spread out though, while I think the media portrays it all happening in mid town Manhattan.
