    I think Luke knows he is a respectable and incredible man, I do not think he needs a seat at the front of the table ... Thank God some men have so much confidence that a seat at the table does not matter ♥ ️ and the rest of us do not need to have so busy telling what we think is wrong, we can probably just fix things in our own lives.
    thank you for beautiful and lovely videos, and for welcoming us into your lovely family and beautiful home

    "My philosophy with things is: they're just things." That made me laugh, but it's so true. Of course we should take good care of our possessions (which you obviously do) - but they are made for us, not us for them :).

I can’t handle that! My husband and I have been in church ministry for a while now and have had our share of hurt. We can’t please everyone. • @Britney.J
      @Britney.J 3 года назад +9

      Can totally agree. It hurt my heart initially to see them cut -- probably because that's my default gut reaction (that's how I've been trained to think!). However, it's definitely important that items are loved and used. Honestly, fabric just doesn't last forever. It's nice to see how others enjoy their vintage treasures. :)

      I’ve been programmed to “save” nice things too for special occasions and it would have probably been hard for me to cut the quilt too because of the handmade love that was put into it, but I’ve been changing that mindset too. They are just things and we should be using things we love in whatever capacity that each individual decides. I think they look beautiful at the end of the boys beds. There’s no need to save the things we love, we should be using them and enjoying them.

    I loved this video!❤ I paused to read the comments about the quilt...and a couple of them...wow! I understand those views. I agree with your point of view though! If it means an item is used and loved I think changing something, like cutting and refinishing a quilt, is absolutely fine! You bought it and you can do what you wish with your own belongings. Many people buy beautiful things and put them away for decades. Better they are put to use and appreciated, in my opinion 🙏💕

    There is a lovely story by Alice Walker called "Everyday Use". In case you haven't read it/heard of it, it's a story about a quilt that has been made by a young woman and her mother for the day the young woman gets married. But her sister wants it to put on display as a show of her 'heritage'. It's a poignant story on how we treat heritage, culture, people and objects. a quilt is there to be used in whichever capacity it is practical. It's for 'everyday use' and not something to be put on display and never used. Well done for finding a wonderful use for that quilt you found. I bet the boys love their room.

I love how you don’t use your kids to make your money and allow them their privacy. I think switching the pics above the desk is a great idea and the right decision bc I love that big pic from FB marketplace. Also, the barstools under the island is perfect. Extra seating for the kids but also works with you aesthetic. I love the way you cut the quilt to make it work for both beds. It gave you the look you wanted and still useful. Finding two quilts just alike is probably very hard to find. You are a frugal mama and are living the example that it takes time to get the “ things” you want and that they are just that “ things”.

    I bought a large painting from FB Marketplace and I too thought it was half the size. OMGosh!! It turned out to be 7 ft x 4 ft!! We have a long bed truck and good thing I took that, as the painting filled the entire bed.
    My DIL suggested that I turned it sideways and hang it up at the top of the stairs. It’s a modern painting, so it works (even the artists signature is modern - so it isn’t even noticed).
    I agree 100% about the quilt! It’s those little touches that make a house a home. They will have fond memories of the cozy bedrooms that you created.

      Sounds like quite the find! There’s nothing like finding a good deal on marketplace

    We had a lighting store. You always put the glass on the last....and tighten the screws evenly all around

    I love everything you got. You make your house very pretty using useful items. The quilt idea was a good idea. Better than let it sit in closet

    You always have such beautiful things. I love that you USE them in your home, not just own them. And I'm with ya on that quilt decision. The quilt was made to be used and bring joy and it is still accomplishing that, only now doubly so. 🙂
