Lisa, your daughters look so much like you. As an outsider who knows nothing about your life except what you so graciously share with us, I can tell your daughters really look up to you and are inspired by you. I can see this in their love for creating, cooking, and even the way they dress! It’s beautiful. I aspire to have this with my own daughter.
I’m feeling like less is more this year too. Especially less commercialism. Less presents, less money spent. More family time, baking cookies, hanging out around the fire.
I will never be a minimalist...I love things!! Especially Christmas...I put up several Christmas trees...lights everywhere...just the more the better!! Give me lots of Christmas lights, my favorite goodies I bake, and Christmas movies...I'm a happy woman
We still do Thanksgiving through this Friday. We do not shop on Black Friday. We don't shop much during Advent. We decorate then for Christmas, wintry holidays celebrating light, go to Chanukah parties with friends who celebrate that Festival of Light.
We do not decorate for Christmas until about two weeks out although I will take down my fall items about December 1 and put up winter greenery. And since we also celebrate Advent, I put out our Advent wreath and a small tree with ornaments that is part of a Christmas countdown.

We don't start decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgiving either. I like to take my time and celebrate the changing seasons. No need to rush into winter, enjoy the late days of fall and then slowly add in greenery, lights, and eventually the tree and other small touches for the holiday.

You may not realize it but every little touch you give your home is creating a memory for your children. I think back to my childhood growing up in the 60's. Our real little dry tree with all the tinsel and the probably fire hazard large bulbs with the brown cord. It's a wonder there weren't more house fires back in the day. We didn't get a ton of gifts but we always had fun. My mother didn't decorate with a ton of things because we didn't have much. But I specifically remember the small nativity manger, the little silver reindeer and Santa sleigh and the tinsel on the tree. Those were great days. You are creating a lovely home that no doubt your children will remember and reminisce about one day too. Thank you for sharing your cozy home!!

A water softener would really help with cleaning. Hard water is a constant battle. Getting ready to decorate soon but it's not the same as when my children were still home. It's a beautiful season just different now.

I think white lights and natural decor is great for winter decor and older people for Christmas, but for kids, it's multi-colored lights all the way. That is both mine and my daughter's favorite memories about Christmas as kids. We decorated from top to bottom in Christmas wonder. My daughter now decorates in multi-light decor for the grandkids. They love it.

We went from lots of Christmas decorations to just keeping it simple. Kids, cats, dogs…they like to play with all of that stuff. So the past several years I scale back much to my husband’s dismay. But I love an uncluttered simple look

About the wallpaper - you get wipeable wallpaper that you can clean with a damp cloth. They are also more stain resistant. Just ask for vinyl option when looking at samples.

We do not decorate for Christmas until, literally, a couple days before Christmas day. We always get our tree on Christmas Eve. This is because we celebrate Advent. We leave up fall decor until Black Friday. However, our fall decor does kind of change through the autumn season complimenting the current month, if that makes sense. You may wonder when we take down our Christmas decor. Four weeks after Christmas we begin to take some of it down until all but the Nativity scenes are left which we then take down on February 2nd.
Properly done. 4 weeks of Advent, then Christmas begins on Christmas Eve and it's Christmastide until Candlemas.

When you kept switching back to you and your daughter putting up the tree, it took me a second to realize who was who! She is really starting to look so so much like you!!
I have the same problem with my sinks, too. I just soak a cloth, or paper towel, with white vinegar and let it sit on the problem areas, it works for fixtures, too. After soaking & brushing away debris, then go in with BarKeepers, BonAmi, or baking soda. Works great with hard water. Your girls did a good job! Your house looks lovely, cozy, and festive!

We have the exact. same. style. I had to show my husband how similar our kitchen and items around the house are to each other. I live in a 1940's small home. I try to make it cozy, with actual old items while keeping it semi modern and simple. I found your channel a day or so ago... good find

I’m hardly doing anything for Christmas. This is my First Christmas without my dad and we were estranged (his choice). So it’s not a happy season. A reminder of hopes deferred. So it’s really simple. I’ve also never been one who really loves decorating or is into Christmas. But enjoys watching others set up.
Over the years,I’ve been doing less decorating but keeping up with the baking. At work, we had a huge stairway and would use large pipe cleaners to hang garland. Just leave the pipe cleaners on the garland when packing for next year.

Yup I have all my Fall and Thanksgiving decor up for the holiday. I won't take it down until after this weekend then next week I'll clean and start putting up Christmas. I absolutely adore Autumn so I'm always a bit sad to put it away.

I have my own business as well. I am so busy that I donated 4 large totes of Christmas décor. Some never used that I bought after Christmas. I am going with simple this year. I dont have the energy to decorate every room. Simple is calmer and just as satisfying in my opinion.
Your house is beautiful as is but adding simplistic Christmas touches makes it extra homey reminds me of Little Women . Love it so much ! I decorated very simply for Christmas for our Thanksgiving dinner , we are hosting Thanksgiving and traveling for Christmas . The weather was so cold it felt more like winter then fall .
I find that sometimes simple is more. And when I need more it gives you a chance to appreciate everything that’s out. Letting your girls decorate the tree was wonderful it look like they did a wonderful job. The sugar cookies looked amazing and I do enjoy watching your family.

Lisa, citric acid is a good natural product to use on your basins and toilets. Leaving half to one cupful soaking in the loo for a while will get it beautifully clean. Merry Christmas to you all. Karen Lincolnshire UK.

Your place is gorgeous. I love your decorations. Christmas has always been my favorite holiday of the year. Your daughters are so enjoying decorating the Christmas tree. I'd love to have all of your energy. Cleaning goes on at our old farmhouse for a day, then I usually will take one day to recover from cleaning. The next day, I'll decorate. Last year we adopted a kitten so we didn't put up our tree. This year, I'll put the tree up and use ribbon to hang the decorations instead of the wire clips for animal safety. Make a pouch with plastic wrap the size of stain and tape it with easy to remove masking tape, leave top open and fill with corn starch. Just leave on for a week, hopefully it will absorbed the grease. It is important to provide children with paper napkins or paper towels at every meal time and to wash their hands when they come inside. This should be a rule for everyone no matter their age. I don't see young mom's using napkins and their kids use their clothes and seat cushions to wipe their hands. So good to let your girls take over the decorating, it is important to learn these things for future homes of their own.

Love the subtle Christmas decor and agree that the house looks the best at night during this season! For a more natural alternative to Bar Keepers Friend, I use Bon Ami. The original formula in the red container is the best in my opinion.
Beautiful! Your girls did an amazing job decorating your tree! Our tree goes up tomorrow! We are only having a 4 ft tree with Dollar Tree ornaments because we have 2 new (rescue) kittens! We've had kittens before at Christmas and we know better lol!
We do most of our shopping before December, and that's helps us not to stress as much. We don't even touch Christmas till Black Friday.
