- In this video, we continue our journey with Dmytro, Svitlana, and their children as they prepare for the harsh mountain winter in the village of Samakova, nestled in the Carpathian Mountains of Ukraine. As the colder months approach, the family takes traditional methods to preserve their food-watch as they smoke meat and pork fat, an age-old technique that has been passed down for generations, ensuring they have hearty provisions for the long winter ahead.
In addition to their food preservation efforts, the family also prepares a traditional Hutsul dish: cabbage rolls (holubtsi). Using local ingredients and time-honored methods, they create a meal that reflects the rich culinary heritage of the region. Every step, from gathering ingredients to cooking over a wood-fired stove, highlights the resourcefulness and resilience that define their way of life.
Amid the backdrop of stunning mountain vistas, you’ll see how the family continues to balance the challenges of mountain living with a deep appreciation for their connection to nature. Their daily tasks not only sustain them but also embody the cultural traditions that have shaped their life far from modern conveniences. Cause in such village's, they have not nature gas to prepare food on it and also no water drainage and central water to drink. They only have electricity.

It is so interesting to see that some people does not understand that each culture is different.
Different way of cooking, different way of raising children, different daily routine, etc.
Just because someone is doing something different than you doesn't mean they are dumb, stupid or clueless.
How can western people boast themselves as being so "civilized" and fails to understand this simple fact?
Just because you live in a society that call itself "modern" does not mean that everything you do is right and all other culture are wrong.
And stop projecting your fears, frustrations unto the way these people lives. If most of you were being honest with yourselves, you would know that their lives are better than yours in so many ways.
Try to show some love and a bit of tolerance from time to time, you will be happier :)

Wonder who is paying them to do these videos ? Did you all notice the electrical kitchen appliances they have in background of this kitchen? She has white full electric stove with front door oven and on top of her counter in the corner a small black microwave oven with her tiny trinkets on top! But she uses the old wood burning stove next to her electric stove and oven ! Hilarious show and the children have television? People they aren’t living without modern technology they are
