    Love my fish & chips. We have an amazing chippie van that pulls up outside my skatepark every Tuesday. I might have to give the van a swerve and rock your Fish & Chips. Rad recipe, sizzlechest.

    That's awesome! I'm born and raised in Sweden and my mum made hassleback potatoes all the time as I grew up. I had no idea it was acctually made elsewhere as well! 👌

    Made this yesterday night for my wife and kids...they loved it. Did not have cod, I used Swai, pretty flaky, not as firm, but tasted great and sustainable. Thanks!

      UnlistedInvisibility New Zealand Fish is just above and beyong any other fish I've tried. Have to agree. I'd spend all that money to go back just for the fish it was just so good.

      I usually cook with the skins on, i think he said without the skin because if the batter can slide off the skin if it isnt the right consistency

    Hi Donal! Neat trick in cutting the potatoes with a knife and not cutting it all the way through, the spoon really helps!. I always make the mistake of slicing them all the way through when making hassleback potatoes but not anymore thanks to your tip!

    I made this today and I have to say that this is the BEST fish and chips I've ever had in my life!!! :) It was such a hit, everyone LOVED it!! I'll make your pad thai recipe tomorrow and I seriously can't wait!

    I wanted to make this but I drank the beer and my cats stole the fish when I wasn't looking. I also forgot to buy potatoes at the store. The question is; can I just use butter?

    Made the dish tonight. It was freaking awesome! Made a small twist on the potatoes. Par-boiled them and added some paprika and garlic powder. Thanks for a great recipe dude! Indeed the best fish n chips. Woop Woop :-)

    You can substitute ice cold club soda for beer if you want. Slightly different flavor but still really good. I do my F&C in Canola oil heated to 325. I use a digital thermometer instead of a wooden spoon.

    Dang, my doctor just told me not to eat seafood and eggs for 2 weeks due to my injury and yet this is the first video on the top of my subscription list as I got home from the hospital. Come on, how could I not watch this after YOU said it's the BEST fish & chips?? And now I am dying to make this RIGHT NOW!!

    Well done. I've seen quite a few fish and chip recipes, but this one definitely is indeed one to beat the rest. I love this version of sliced potatoes...almost seems like a Damien Hirst art installation.

    OMG, now you are talking. A great idea for a fun way to serve fish (especially to kids). Thanks a bunch Donal. For those who want to get this effect without using beer, try seltzer water and chickpea or gram flour as a batter ( works a treat for those who need to avoid gluten or beer or both)

    At the fishmongers you can get some sort of flour especially for baking your fish, cause normal dough wouldn't stick to the fish when putting it in sunflour oil. However, this seems to work fine!

    I have always enjoyed fish and mashed potatoes you might say it's the Irish in me! Also for the fish I like plenty enough salt and malt vinegar! Mushy peas? That's greek to me but willing to give (almost) anything a try and mainly would just have a bowl of split pea soup as a side instead....I was sure fish and chips came from England..

    I was surprised how crispy, golden and jucy the fish was. Just like the ones at the fairs at our beaches, yet much cheaper. One question though: i thought the batter needed more seasoning. Any idea how much salt/pepper i should use in terms of tea or tablesspoons? Thanks again for a fantasti´c recipe!!
