Since I live in Malaysia and sundried tomatoes are fully imported and pretty expensive here, I just made my own sundried tomatoes using cherry tomatoes. Really worth the effort and perfect with this dish. Your pasta recipe is just delicious!
I did not do the traditional sun drying method. I only did it in the oven. I cut the tomatoes and removed the pulp, scatter them flat on a parchment paper and dehydrate them for around 2-3 hours in a 100 degree Celcius oven. Then, switch off the oven, and leave the tomatoes overnight in the oven to dry even more. Store the tomatoes in a bottle filled with extra virgin olive oil. I stored them in the fridge. The first time I left it at room temperature, the bottle was filled with fungus in three days. So, fridge it is.
You need to follow Donal's steps of preparing this if you enjoy smoked salmon as it is. If you add the smoked salmon while the sauce is still thickening or even just right after you turf off the heat it will get slightly cooked

Oh it's interesting you use creme fraiche. I use sour cream in mine, might give the fruit a go. This looks amazing! Great recipe! Love your energy in the kitchen! :0)
They're not exactly the same. Crème fraîche can be translated from French to Fresh Cream and it's cream that's remained untouched. Sour cream on the other hand is, by definition, sour. That is due to fermentation with lactic acid bacteria. I'm French and I've never tasted Sour Cream so I don't speak from experience, but I'm pretty sure there is a slight difference.

My mom makes a similar dish to Taft every now and then for my sister - she LOVES smoked salmon like no second person! And she uses parsley instead of dill, and that works so well! If I have a bit of the sauce without pieces of salmon, I like the taste of it, funnily! But she uses very finely chopped up salmon and no peas or tomatoes. And only cream, more than you do, but without the creme fraiche :) It's a bit simpler than yours, but when you want to eat it, but want even less effort in cooking, try it out!:)

I'll be making that, Donal...looks good...have you ever tried oven-drying tomatoes (when there's a load going cheap in the supermarket)...? I just sprinkle them with s&p and dry them in a very low oven with the door open (oven door, not kitchen door)...if you've any variations on oven drying I'll love you to share... :)

Looks yummie! I like the combination of smoked salmon, samphire and cream too. BTW, I think parmesan cheese goes well with smoked salmon and tuna. But don't tell anyone. ;-)
If you despise smoked salmon (I despise smoked salmon) I'd add a small grating of smoked gouda to the sauce to bring that smoky element but without the terrible salty overkill of smoked salmon. and then use fresh salmon
