How To Make Any Sample Fit Your Project Tempo in FL Studio 20
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 27 июл 2024
- In this quick video I will show you how to make any loop fit the tempo of your project automatically.
This technique can sync samples and loops to your project BPM so that you can use loops at a different speed or tempo in your project without adjusting the pitch.
It works for both percussive loops and melodic loops, so it's great for both drum loops and instrument stems.
Join The "In The Mix" discord server: / discord
Step 1 - Find the sample tempo
Step 2 - Use the "fit to tempo" tool to automatically sync the sample with your project
Step 3 - Manually adjust any loop or sample if it's not working as expected
Tips -
Be sure to select or deselect "Stretch" at the top left of the playlist when adjusting audio clips
Try experimenting with pitch, Sometimes it's okay of the pitch of a drum loop increases or decreases, it can create a really unique tone!

How many of you produce with loops?
I sometimes experiment with it and really like the results, but it doesn't always sound like "me"!
Sometimes it not sounding like you can work in your favour though..
I usually use a small part of a loop that I think would be useful, but I don't usually use loops as loops xd
marry me.
I don't really like to use melodic loops. I think it takes away your originality and signature of music production. It almost feels like as i am cheating. Idk if u can relate but thats how i feel about melodic loops.
@@jinchuriki397 I can totally relate. Very rarely can I make it fit my sound, but it is fun
Dude, You're the reason I can use FL Studio so thanks
same 100 !
Shut ur mouth
Ain’t lying bro 😂 true king
Yeah I love this dude
Yo same tbh.
In the mix: let's hear the unsync one.
Me: Actually, it sounds good
In the mix: Pretty awful
Me: Guess I don't have sense of beat and tempo.
I see you are a polyrhythm boyo
I promise I was like that aye that’s pretty good
Don't worry, he didn't really give it much time to play, so it really just sounded like polyrhythm. I'm sure if he had played the track for longer, it would have sounded more awful. The vocal loop he used was really slow, so you didn't get much of a feel for the tempo in comparison to the drum loop. 122 BPM and 114 BPM are pretty close, anyway.
I swear i thought the same thing bro lol
What happens when midi is not syncing as played on midi keyboard
U just solved the biggest problem in my love life with my daw
Glad to hear it, Daw counselling services every Saturday on In The Mix!
Can i give fixing your life a try too? Use Ableton
jk
@@KendaBeatMaker bro,it's not about daw,all about talent (FL users-Martin garrix, avicii, porter robinson, brooks, etc)
Sonu Jolly of course but I don’t think you should ignore that some things are just more intuitive and easier to master in other DAWs. Besides I wasn’t being serious, yes use what ever you want. The listener won’t care which DAW was used.
This guy reads manuals.
For real tho 😂 good one
Manuals read him
He does so we dont have to
You're the number one resource for FL Studio. Honestly, I finally learned compression, buses and EQ because of you.
Glad to be of help Tony :)
me too mix is a godsend!
If you use the scroll wheel on the time stretch knob it will autosnap to the grid for a really fast adjustment
That's a brilliant tip. I had no idea!
@@inthemix Always happy to help
Nice tip
This thread is plot twist where someone gave a tip to mike
duuuuuuuuuuude thank you for this!
I must say this has been the best tempo loop stretching tutorial I have seen yet for FLS. Tried testing every single tip you provided and it worked every time. Saved me a lot of time and headaches bruh. Appreciate it so much!
Just cant describe how much value your Videos have. Your channel is literally pure Gold for learning Producers or anything else Music related. Thanks alot for making them and keeping the same good Quality through all your Videos.
Your FL Studio tutorials are the best on the web! They're well-organised, well-produced and easy to understand. Head-and-shoulders above the rest!
After searching for a straight answer for weeks, on internet, on how to do this I found your video and it was PERFECT! Thanks for leaving the video up. It was spot on.
I've seriously been struggling with using samples and lining up my kick drums. I can't tell you how much help this was, I was able to do what I've been struggling with for 2 days in 2 minutes. Your videos have been helping out, but this one especially was extremely useful, thank you for all the help man! Genius!
I knew about time stretching and BPM switching, but I didn't know all of that stuff in depth. Thanks Michael !
I was just struggling with an acapella to line up. You just saved my life, ... as always. Thank you so much!!!
I want you to never stop releasing the FL Studio tutorials... Helps a lot!!!
Big thanks for all your soft-spoken and thoughtful tutorials they really helped motivate me to start producing again
That's great, keep going :)
I kept going around this by sending loops to a slicer and then doing some adjustments there. Your method is relatively quicker and more convenient.
Always amazing info brotha, I'm taking lots of notes, thanks!
I had so much trouble trying to sync up a sample and lock it into the grid and you described it PERFECTLY here and I was able to resolve my issue and continue my project that I was hung up on for hours. THANK YOU.

Dude you just totally show what Iam suffering to know over the past few years
thanks much bro, Am now and always be a fan of your's
Didn’t know about the realtime stretching macro. Thanks I always learn something from these videos
Thanks MIke: Before What I Actually do is FInd the tempo of the sample by detecting same process as you did and then I use that BPM to the current projects Tempo value , then the whole track went messed up some unrecognizable way.. 😆

Excellent best FL tempo tutorial on the internet. I produce ONLY with loops, so this tutorial has been invaluable since I just migrated from Reaper. Thank you man!!!!
I needed this. Youre the best at explaining things
"we have to type in the bpm of the sample, not of the project"
Finally figured out what i did wrong
Thank you! :D
Somebody send this to Busy Work Beats and get him to quit Ableton lol
He has tasted the FL fruit, and he will come back, just like an ex.
LMAO, Is he on Ableton now?
Besides using FL I tried Ableton, Studio One and Bitwig, but FL Studio is love ❤️
@@myke.p Yeah he recently uploaded a video freaking out about how easy Ableton was to use and the first thing he mentioned was this topic lol
Guess he hasn't figured out how to use and tailor samples and loops inside FL Studio.
Thanks so much bro! I've been trying to figure out how to do this for a minute. Your tutorial helped me and was spot-on and straight to the point. 💯 👍
Been watching your channel at least a couple years just want to tell you your channel is like the MAYBACH of channels. Thanks for the professionalism awesome channel all the way around!
Hey Michael ! I have a question. Sometimes i like to use one shot samples for melodic parts and i use the stretch mode... it accomplish its function but gives a weird grainy sound and ruins the sample. It also happens with 808s.
What can i do ? How i fix it ?
Love your channel man, very informative and well explained, hope you can reply my question... Greetings from Argentina
Thanks dude, even after 4 years of FL this was really helpful
I've been using FL since version 7 and I still find I learn useful tips and work shortcuts from In the Mix.
Thank you for this video. You have been a major help in my career since watching the first video I ever discovered from your channel. Nuff Respect all di way from Jamaica 🇯🇲
Thank you so much for everything! Really appreciate your contribution to this community!
Maybe one video on "How to make a sample fit in the Key of the Track" still having some issues on that.
Found anything?
Whenever I try to detect, fit, or stretch my samples sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt, i've even tried tempo tapping and it still wont work for most, any help id appreciate not sure what to do about it at this point
Appreciate the help it was great been doing music since 1992 in I'm 43 always had a little problem with sampling but now I got you on this 💯
Completely different way to how I used to do it, I can say I will be doing this way from now on, cheers mate! Yours videos help me so much
In the first 5 minutes I learned so much that I couldn't do. Also, that type in BPM smh I always put the product BPM my life is a lie lol
I produce more like underground psytrance stuff so I don't use loops that much. But anyway an amazing video! 👍
Still useful for any type of remix or anything or just changing your own project tempo 👍
Thank you, your videos are really helping me in learning FL Studio so well. I give God the glory for your life brother. Am just a starter in music production but you made it seem so easy for me using FL Studio. This is my first project, its going to be my debut Gospel single, though it's difficult but am on to it and watching your videos are making my difficult encounters easy. Thank you for being there and God bless.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and for putting so much care into the quality of your video content.
2:10 most important part. I spent a lot of time doing fit to tempo and choosing the tempo of the song and wondering why it didn't work.
But How can we make any sample fit the KEY of our song?😕
Use traktor to figure out the key and then pitch it up or down in the sampler.
AK TK pitch it up and down
the amount of gems in this is crazy bro thanks so much
I have never gone for any course or training. I started completely a zero level. I've learned alot from you "in the mix". Now i can do many things in fl studio. Thank you
"Pretty awful."
I mean ... yeah xD
1:01 not gonna lie it sound almost on sync lol
I was like "damn it's ok I guess" InTheMix: "pretty awful"
the snare is off beat

THIS is useful! TYVM. Yes, loops are greatly useful, esp. if you custom slice and dice them to make them "yours"
I’ve never really thought to test all the different resampling/mode options. I might have to try that out.
I bought recenlty "basic tutorial" and it was Ok and I thought: I understand everything. Now when I watching your videos, they are much better than paid ones! Great job man!
Hey Micheal... I really struggled in that bpm changing issue... I've always tried to find a way temporarily... But now you've taught us the correct way in a beautiful manner... Thanks for this valuable information..
I knew the set to bpm option was there but never really figured out how it worked, major thanks for this video
