    Good to see you back. UK. Yes, a tool to help you see how you are breathing would be good for me I am sure.

      Hi @timothycook5880 Nice to see you! Thanks so much for stopping by to say a quick hello. Yea, I think this device will be really helpful for my people who need a little more guidance to know if they are breathing "correctly" or not. Or maybe, to know whether they are getting the desired effect or not. Maybe that's you? In any case, I will make a few more videos on the Oxa, so that you all can feel a bit more informed about it and ask questions. I hope all is well with you. Have a great weekend!

    Great to see you postin again Tara! My question is, can you use the Oxa device as a biofeedback device to learn to do coherent breathing without the device?

      @winfielddixon5166 So nice to see you here, my friend. I've missed you! YES, Win! Definitely! My next video will discuss the pros and cons of the Oxa (in my humble opinion, of course) and one of those pros is to use the device to develop greater interoception, so that you can do your coherent breathing practice WITHOUT having to always rely on the device. I think you just nailed the perfect use case, in fact. You're a step ahead of me!😉Hope you're having a great weekend. Talk soon!

      @@BELightTT wow you are very attentive towards your audience. Was probably a look alike down south of England, I've only just stumbled across the channel, you cover such a niche field so I'm curious, As I'm a competitive swimmer I was wondering if you know about anything breathing wise that may enhance my performance for racing?

    • @BELightTT
      @BELightTT  3 месяца назад +2

      @@ForwardFilms121 I must have a bunch of lookalikes running around the globe. You're not the first person this week to mention this! 😂😉That's great that you're a competitive swimmer! How old are you? How long you been at it? My older brothers were competitive swimmers - one of them actually went to Olympic Trials. And my dad ran a swimming and diving team for about 45 years. He's a great coach. I asked him recently if he ever coached his swimmers' breathing in any way, and he said he never messed with it so much. But I believe we can use what we know about physiology and modern sports science to maybe find that extra competitive edge. I don't teach a ton of "performance breathing" on my channel, only because it tends to come with a number of contraindications and some of the techniques are not appropriate for a general audience. But I do teach a lot more performance-based strategies in my 4-Week Breath Boot Camp. I have a free video training that gives you a sense of if you are a right fit for my program or not. You might be interested in checking in out. Here's the link, if you're at all curious: www.belighttt.com/breathetofeelgood Otherwise, if you maybe have a more specific question, Nathan, you can always feel free to let me know. I hope you have a great day and thanks again for stumbling by the channel.💖

      what a serendipitous occurrence, that's amazing that you're brother qualified for olympic trials though it does always help to have a dad who's profession is teaching high level swimmers. About your questions: I have been competitive for almost a decade (however off and on with COVID) and I have lived a measly 17 years, the club that I swim for was once among the top three in the country with several national champions however due to internal affairs it has significantly declined over past years.
      I suppose performance breathing isn't really a thing especially in my favourite events which are fly and freestyle sprints there is minimal breathing involved in the race.
      What you mentioned about physiology and sports science made my ears prick up Tara, as it's something I have been considering studying at uni for sometime especially the ways in which you can apply it to real life. I'll check the video out but in the meantime you've been a very engaging host with an evidently vibrant and inquisitive soul, I wish you and your family well

      @@ForwardFilms121 Firstly, I want to say how amazingly mature you are for only 17! Wow, I thought I was speaking with someone much older. I must admit, I've met a number of UK teens since starting my channel, and you all are mature beyond your years. Not sure why that would be, but bravo to you!
      Secondly, in terms of swimming (or any sport really), it's not so much about altering your breathing DURING performance. It's about training your breathing OUTSIDE of performance, in order to create positive physiological adaptations that enhance your performance when you need it. Does that make sense? So as a swimmer - especially a sprinter - I wouldn't touch your breathing. As you said, you barely breathe during those events. And actually, a breath-hold practice might even offer you a performance boost. But more importantly, we'd want to work on your breathing outside of the pool, to optimize it as much as possible and to improve overall recovery and longevity in the sport. Does that make sense? Just like you might train in the gym to improve strength/power/endurance, your breath practice can offer similar benefits.
      Will you be starting Uni in the fall? That's so exciting! So much hope! So much potential! You're at an age where you can literally do anything. If it's interesting to you, I highly encourage you to go into an exercise physiology program. I'm sure you have some great ones in the UK. Exercise science has really exploded in the last decade. We know so much that we didn't know, and the discoveries will only continue. I think it's a marvelous - and quite practical - area of study to go into. Truthfully, I wish I had done it!
      Thank you so much for the well wishes. If you think of it, please stay in touch! I'd love to hear what you decide to specialize in and how you get on with your studies! Take care of yourself and have a great night.
