I feel that what bugs me here is that it’s the same type of character design the studio has used for over a decade now. Isn’t the benefit of stylized animation the freedom to do anything with how your characters look? It just feels like the added the watercolor look halfway through making it.

This movie is meant to celebrate the 100 Year anniversary of Disney Animation, as you saw it mentions not only Frozen and Moana (newer movies) but also classics like Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. So of course the characters will reflect their classic look. That is also why this film has both 2D and 3D style. It's a perfect mix of all of their animation eras. Maybe they will experiment more with future films.

My first impression was that it looks like TV animation with reused/slightly altered backgrounds from Tangled or Frozen. And I think that could be because they're trying to make something to represent "Disney magic" as a whole with this movie, but their VFX departments have had their budgets slashed repeatedly over the last few years too.
It's really going to come down to how well it's written I think. If it's a clever, refreshingly unique story than it will probably do very well. But if it plays it safe and sticks with a basic plot, it will fall flat.

I'm gonna be honest: I am HYPED for this movie. Some of the reasons include:
1: An original story (seeing how we get so many live actions from Disney, it's refreshing to see that they still do original stories)
2: A pretty art style, I think it looks amazing, the water color looks great, and some of the shots are epic
3: (last but not least) A real DISNEY VILLAN!!!

Only thing is, I hope that Disney isn’t only doing this to cash in on the hype behind the animation styles of movies like Spiderverse and Puss in Boots and will continue to make movies with intriguing stories and visually stunning, but also artistically unique animation in different styles. Like the style difference between movies like Hercules, Mulan, and the Emperors New Groove. Disney (and Pixar) have been really bad lately about making all their human characters look the same save for a few feature changes.

I think that this might be Disney's jump into something new in the same way that Tangled was, and, in that respect, I am very excited. I am cautiously optimistic about this and hope for a story that feels new while also harkening back to why the classic Disney films have stood the test of time in a way that many of their more modern films just have not. Having said that, the only thing that concerns me is the animal sidekick. In many Disney films, the sidekick ends up being a waste of time/tries to be the next Genie, something I hope Disney does not try to recreate. Genie was and is great, but we do not need any more Genie knockoffs; there were enough of those in the 90's with many of them actively harming the film they were in (Hugo from Hunchback, for example). In conclusion, I hope it is good because the art style, lighting, and concept look great.

Every acetate cell was drawn and painted by hand and took a lot longer, so they put more thought into each project, which is why the old classics are classics. This looks great, I'm looking forward to it for sure. Puss n' Boots 2 blew me away for sure, and the animation style was great. Seems like the renaissance is happening which is neat. I don't mind live action Disney in terms of Maleficent (Love that movie) and Alice and Wonderland (yes, I know many people have mixed feelings on that one). The other ones though I haven't really watched since they're not that interesting. I think that Live Action can work if there's a retelling, but not the same story. I'm excited to see an animated movie from them though, I like animation as a medium far better personally. Adults can 100% enjoy animation too, and I think it's good the world is starting to realize that.

I will never ever stop loving that Disney can do whatever they want they will always have to go back to a classic princess fairy tale story for success.
Snow white started the company with a massive hit that changed the animation genre, then whne other projects didn't work out as well as they wanted they made Cinderella which saved the company again.
In 1989 Ariel the Little Mermaid saved the whole Disney company by starting the Renaissance. Beauty and the beast was another game changer for the whole animation industry and Frozen took the entire world by storm.
That's not even mentioning almost every single other princess movie, which almost always turn into instant classics as long as Disney isn't actively doing something from doing them dirty (like Princess and the Frog)
One would think that after 100 years Disney would finally understand what they are loved for and what always, ALWAYS works out for them in the long run. It's classic Princesses stories.

Not trying to put Disney down here, but the animation style looks like Disney junior’s Elena from Avalor and Sophia the first regenerated. I’ve babysat with my sisters with these shows on in the background. The animation style looks recycled from their younger audience shows, which is fine. But with the marketing attempting to reach the level of Frozen & Moana (bc let’s be real from a marketing perspective that’s why they chose those mentions) the movie itself I feel falls flat in comparison. This doesn’t mean the storyline and visuals won’t hold up in the end, but this trailer feels lackluster in the sense of it’s set up. What is her one wish or contemplation of wishes? Including that in the trailer would have given us a deeper connection rather than a blank sense of wonder. What is she running from that leads to the star’s entrance? Sure we’ll figure that out in the movie, but there’s little to no introduction that grasps us to her storyline.
Overall I think there was a lack on the marketing end of the trailer. Disney has again shown us that they push visuals above storyline, and potential character merch before character development. Eager to see more promotional videos from them once we move closer towards November. Loved this vid overview❤

The most iconic Spanish representation goes to DreamWorks (obviously) with El Dorado, Miguel and Tulio (historical background, correct fashioyand looks...).. I really hope this is just a theory and it is set in a mythological land (because the story seems awesome), but if this is supposed to be Spanish representation I'm going to cry . Honestly, it's alright in the complex, but in scenes like the one with the princess and her pet on the balcony, the contrast between the 2D background and the 3D characters doesn't convince me. It almost looks like the characters are moving in front of cardboard or a green screen. If you end up reading this, hey britney! I love hearing your thoughts and wanted to share some of mine with y'all just cuz I really wanna discuss!
First off, my personal positives on this trailer were basically the animation, and the backgrounds. Holy fucking shit those backgrounds are really something else bro. I'm so happy disney is diving into animation again.
The princess is super pretty and she is a great way to represent without being overbearing about it, just like how they did with Encanto.
**Alright now that's out of the way XD let's do some constructive criticism**
    1. The villain looks boring/generic as fuck. Now this could change as the movie gets closer to the release date, but from what it seems like now the "wish giving king" evil dude looks uninteresting to me or he'll have some uncreative motives. Not trying to BE negative, but....not exactly pumped about him lmaoo
    2. The goat guy sounds like he is gonna be another Olaf but more annoying. Especially with the Patrick Stewart sounding voice...it just doesn't fit. Like I can't word it any better than that tbh. I hope the star is more of a wise or playful divine being but by how cutesy they look they might just be a silent helping star friend haha idk
I really hope the goat isn't annoying, especially with how it seems he won't be talking for awhile until the star baby like sprinkles dust on him, but yea.
    3. Music. I'm not really enthralled by the music in the trailer BUT YALL IF WE GET A VILLAIN SONG YOU KNOW IM CHECKING THAT SHIT OUT BOI YESSSS GIVE US ANOTHER POOR UNFORTUNATE SOULS PLEASEE DISNEY
    4. Predictable plot. So, I'm not sure if this one is more of a nitpick or not but like....I think it is worth mentioning.
Being predictable isn't necessarily so bad, cinderella and snow white 99% of people knew what was gonna go down in that movie after reading the fairytales. However, they stan the test of time because they did an amazing job using music and grand scenes of animation to tell the story.
I feel like this movie is gonna go for more of the "Raya and the Last Dragon" route where the story is gonna be teaching us a whole moral lesson? Again I'm not opposed to it but it just makes it seems so predictable...like
for example, i could see rn the princess ends up trusting the bad king dude with her wish, he fucks her over, star baby may have to sacrifice themselves to save them all and bada bing bada boom happy ever after.
