Awesome bro thanks! The exact, much needed, info that I was looking for before buying a jdm vq. As easy as I had assumed, but with all the crap info out there on this exact topic I wasn't sure until now. The only other video on this swap was done by some clowns. Thanks again

Great content! I'm having a shop do a jdm engine swap for me... I was nervous until I watched your vid and you were awesome at explaining what's involved and what to look out for.

Did you had to swap any harness that is under the intake manifold for injectors and stuff? Also ps pump and ac comp swapped from usdm motor?

I've a question maybe you'd be able to help me. I have a 2002 2.4 V4 Toyota Camry. I love my car but recently I've noticed that white smoke has been coming out the tailpipe (Only for a couple of seconds and only in the mornings) . I had it checked out and my mechanic is saying my head gasket is going out. I've noticed that I've been losing coolant every so slightly. My engine has 134k miles on it. My mechanic is charging me 1500.00 to replace the gasket. I have many JDM shops that sell used engines around my area for 1200.00. Labor is around 1K to put it in. A total of 2200.00. I also found a rebuilt engine on offer up for 900.00 + 1K to put it in but I don't know who rebuilt the engine. I don't do any tuning and I'm not a mechanic myself. I just want reliability and I want to get to point a to point b. I live in So Cal. What do you suggest?

USDM motors have ports for the starter on both sides if you remove the little metal panel. JDM should be the same. I Believe the blocks are identical as far as castings are concerned.

About to do a 350z JDM swap myself for a higher HP setup down the road with the current motor. Besides wiring harness and iol pressure sensor, what else did you have to swap to make the motor behave? Throttle body, 02, water temp, cam position sensors, VTC solenoids, est.? If you can recall it would be a big help in making a game plan. I have a 3 day limit so any preplanning I can do would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That’s what I’m about to find out , bought a jdm engine and ima be pulling out my usdm engine in a couple days. I’m not very confident because the motor was from a guy who couldn’t start the motor after he attempted to swap , but i don’t think I got screwed yet lmaoo , the motor is jdm and it came with new z1/ Mishimoto silicone hoses and some shiny tomei headers brand new!

@@XRobo13X nice! I finished my swap, so I do have an answer. The only things you have to swap are the wiring harness, the electronic throttle body, the upstream O2 sensors, and the oil pressure sensor. The little harness for the knock sensor and injectors from the JDM motor can be left on it when swapping. Make sure to use your cars ecu and wiring harness though. Mine was an 05 DE non-revup. Might be differences for your year.

@@derekbrown7392 awesome bro , so the motor i bought (JDM)had a 15/16 size oil sensor and like 3 contacts , the one from the usdm is 1 inch and has 1 contact I believe, I wonder if that and possibly a wrong throttle body was enough to not let the engine start, I’m gonna drop it in hopefully tomorrow and find out !

@@XRobo13X good luck. Make sure to put the transmission in neutral when you put the motor back in or you'll fight forever to get the motor to mate back up to it. Also watch out for the power steering lin on the wrack and pinion. Really easy to break it on the way back in.

@@derekbrown7392 thanks for the tips I’ll keep that in mind , it’s my second time swapping an engine in this car . Last one was high mileage and the head gasket was leaking so it would over heat often. Wish me luck today lol
