This is part of us fixing a customers G35 that had gotten a "new" motor installed that happened to be from japan. We were able to get it up and running.
U can tell they take their job seriously and enjoy what they do. It's cool to have a team willing to learn how to get the car running, and the leader not only shows how it's done but also works with them, giving them advice along the way . Well done. This is my dream as well. I hope one day I can achieve a job like this . Unfortunately, I had to learn some things on my own, but nothing sounds better than a nice car that starts up .
@STAYTUNED69yea on VQs the crank sensor has a reluctor on the flywheel which if not aligned with a hole it’ll cause a bad misfire (quoting what they commented)
I think he means flywheel, but even if the dowel was missing and the flywheel was installed incorrectly, it still would have gotten spark, so the “fix” for this is a bit confusing
@@carwerks101not necessarily, every car is different. It’s like as if the crank sensor is broken. It will cause a no start with no spark at all, or fuel depending on the vehicle. If it was out a few teeth then yes spark may have been erratic

If you put an after market lightweight flywheel such as a chromyl lightweight one from Action Clutch, you gotta put a small copper washer inbetween the crank sensor and the bell housing. The fly wheel is just the smallest bit wider than a stock which makes the teeth too close to the crank sensor. I had he same problem on my G35 but found out quick enough.
Thank you! I am planning a Rev Up to Non-rev up swap with a JDM engine here in a few weeks. (ECU update to run it is in the works.) Then engine has been out for some time while I figured things out. I am very handy but feel like a novice at most things. You likely saved me from a hang up or two! The steps you took in figuring out the issue were very helpful, also!
engineers design things and these guys fix them and take them apart/put them back together very rarely will you see an enginner doing the physical labor

I do mechanic work on my own vehicles but I won't do shotty work just to get it running. Here's example: I have led headlights with a chip on each thin side and 1 chip was out of 2 I replaced cuz I can't stand to see shotty work.
Easy to bleed cooling system from air bubbles. Use an over fill funnel like they did with the yellow one. Turn the car on after filling and have it overfill. Air bubbles will work themselves out that way, also can squeeze the hose to help. Simple😊

I see that it's standard practice to use the cardboard to keep the trans bolts in order. My question is, if their is any difference in the bolts at this time to make them not a not standard spec, weather it be stretching or whatever, shouldn't they be considered "damaged" and then replaced? I never understood this. If they're gold bolts they should fit the same Into any spot

Id assume yall have to charge for all those hours diagnosed right? I hate working on things that other people have already tampered with because you always assume they did things correctly (because they said so) so you spend forever looking for problems unrelated to what they could’ve done, only for for you to have to redo stuff they already messed with
@@johnthecarguy only distilled water should be used when mixing concentrate coolant. Im sure spring water is fine, but tap water or hose water has alot of minerals in it that can deposit in the cooling system.

Easy way to test for this problem is to unplug the crank sensor and fire up the car. If it idles fine, its a misaligned flywheel
Could have just unplugged the crank sensor and if it starts then the fly wheel was on wrong
