its just key programmers. trust me i know some idiots doing it. the problem is gm chrysler and a few other brands can be taken with those tablets. a ford, mercedes, bmw are different. some u need different cords and have to rip the glovebox off to add a cable etc. a bmw or mercedes wil take 30 mins at least to remove the dme and open the circuit board and a plug to computer to steal it. but a gm can crank up thru an obd as he did in the video, you dont even have to program a blank key. for dodge, you need a blank key to reprogram and takes about 2 mins. but those keys come free with the tablets lol. i researched all this stuff myself. there are enough cars you can steal in under 2 mins that you can make decent money. then start getting the deep stuff like the $3000 device he mentioned to steal toyotas/lexus. devices like that come from organized crime groups overseas and are made by actual smart people. but majoroity are just using the tablets to take them. the tablets Tommy was holding is an autel km100 and the blue one is a Autel Im508. can take alot of cars with just those and both of those are 1200 combined on amazon.

My fuel cut off switch has already done its job twice ….And if anybody does steal it well then that’s what insurance is for.
lmao yeah the technical aspects in this video are lacking - Discord doesn't use end-to-end encryption and never has. also they're focusing on how you can buy "off limits" tablets but if your security model (as a car manufacturer) relies on no tablets getting out ever then it's bad.
There are some plugins for 3rd party discord clients out there that basically simulate E2E by encrypting the messages on the device prior to them sending to the servers so to anyone without the plugins they just look like garbled messes of letters and numbers. This is how the iphone jailbreak community started out. All the manufacturers have to do is patch it but the next version will also get spoofed and cracked and the cycle repeats unless there's a brand new hardware method implemented but the companies won't step up to it unless they get a kick back from the state or raise their prices.

Ya as a consultant, he could make some big bank. But at the same time, he's not engineering new devices. He's only exploiting current gaps in security.
22:40 - "CANBus attack", CANBus is the protocol which lets the car communicate actions to the electrical components, this is why old cars had massive wiring looms as each wire went direct to the component, but now it's all through CANBus. That is also why you'll have loads of electrical faults over something simple on a modern car. I had ABS, TCS, etc. shut off over a single ABS sensor failure, I suspect their devices do a similar thing where it throws a false flag to the security system and it just takes it as a legitimate command. I had to do some developing on CANBus at my old job working on HVAC systems as a software dev.

@@kassidymua yeah it is, but as far as I can find its first time being said was by the IRA way back in 1984.
@@kassidymua the IRA said it after an unsuccessful bomb attack on Thatcher. In this context it meant that it was far more effort for her intelligence services to stop threats, than it was for them to make one. I have looked around a bit and it is attributed to them, but Im not a historian or anything.
This is a way better video than the kia boys one. This guy is very intelligent and took a while to truly learn how these tools and cars work. He isn't just breaking into kias with brute force, he's using vulnerabilities and making it a genuine skill that could get him into a serious position to work for car companies and figure out how to stop these things from happening.

its just key programmers. trust me i know some idiots doing it. the problem is gm chrysler and a few other brands can be taken with those tablets. a ford, mercedes, bmw are different. some u need different cords and have to rip the glovebox off to add a cable etc. a bmw or mercedes wil take 30 mins at least to remove the dme and open the circuit board and a plug to computer to steal it. but a gm can crank up thru an obd as he did in the video, you dont even have to program a blank key. for dodge, you need a blank key to reprogram and takes about 2 mins. but those keys come free with the tablets lol. i researched all this stuff myself. there are enough cars you can steal in under 2 mins that you can make decent money. then start getting the deep stuff like the $3000 device he mentioned to steal toyotas/lexus. devices like that come from organized crime groups overseas and are made by actual smart people. but majoroity are just using the tablets to take them. the tablets Tommy was holding is an autel km100 and the blue one is a Autel Im508. can take alot of cars with just those and both of those are 1200 combined on amazon.

To be fair, as an owner of two lexus cars, I knew about the canbus attack method for a few months myself. It's just a matter of time before stuff like this becomes common knowledge. This is how the iphone jailbreak community started out.
