If there isn't a 4hr video on the hybrid system I'm going to very upset.
Totally agree !! It should be documentary style
Camhin1 agreed, with all the details too. Sasha does some interesting work.
Seconded, I agree whole-heartedly
I'll bet that's classified info and extremely difficult to reproduce without being affiliated with an electric car company. An electric power adder kinda feels like contamination on such a nice engine. And all-electric is flat-out uninteresting in comparison.
@@NickKautz I'm sure it's classified, but Sasha isn't affiliated with an car electric company, he does work with a company that builds controllers and such. Also I don't think it would be a contamination as anything that makes a vehicle quicker is cool. Electric is the future.
u guys seriously deserve more subs. i came here to listen to a sweet sounding VQ motor to end up learning a few things here and there. as i always do. I prefer you guys over all these car vlogging kids out there all day.
I enjoy your videos as well 😎
Thanks, we enjoy your channel a lot too! Hope to see you at GridLife this year.
Upload more daddy
dad why no videos
wow you havent been to Japan for ages... we miss you champ.. come jump on Sammit's Discord...
i think its safe to say that this car is beyond using a plenum and throttlebody spacer
pablo cardona Lol
holy shit what gave it away? The ITB?
They should call it the 420z now 🚬
BlaZe it

We can only hope the next gen z is similar build/power to this
Hahahaha facts!
@@Smoki501 too bad it’s the same speed around a track
Crazy numbers! That's over 89Hp per cylinder or 127hp per liter out of an N/A V6.
You mean a 4.2L V6
@@stezenast5878 why do you open your mouth to say dumb shit
Honda did 120hp per liter in the S2000
@@Baerschi100 right….is that somehow important to my statement from 5 years ago?
What an awesome Engine.
600hp NA VQ...
Thanks for not spoiling the video, idiot.
@@Kj16V *lol he didnt say what type of Horsepower..* So I had to watch to Video to see If it was Crank or Wheel Horsepower
Kj16V Didn’t say torque, didn’t say wheel or crank, didn’t say anything about the torque curve, pull that stick out of your ass
Who reads the comments before watching the video hahahaha

Hoooollyyy fkk. Sasha is a canadian treasure. Gawd damn

Congratulations!! Huge accomplishment, should be very proud. Great work!!
I LOVE the content! To the point, no scene boy music, no delays, just good info and AMAZING VQ MUSIC 🎺🎺
Awesome!! Been following your car since the DE days! Thanks for all your hard work on the all motor VQ platform!!
Sickkk!! Nisformance in the house!
This is so beyond impressive. Jim Wolf Technology and Sasha thanks for what you have done for the VQ community.
Honored to say I have been in this room and hooked up to that dyno. You guys rock!! Still loving the work you did to my 370z roadster!
Man this sounds great, it wraps up so fast and whines down faster. amazing build man.
"Those are some very attractive holes right there". Keeping it classy, Dave! 😂
OMG!! That's beautiful!! Awesome guys!!! I'm subscribing right now!!
Amazing result! Congrats Sasha and JWT!
Great work Sasha. Great work Speed Academy for the coverage. Maybe I wait a few years and hit up Jim/Sasha for a motor. Lol. Damn way to set the Nissan world on fire and be so open about it how you did it. All we've had for years the GTR's. Too bad it took this long to get VQ's up there. This is refreshing.
The fact that this is all motor blows my mind!!! Congrats! Ground breaking stuff guys!
What a great uplifting video to start my day. Thank you all :)
Congratulations to everyone involved! Such a great achievement in the development of this program.
A theory on the glowing header question: the middle cylinders are getting less air then the side cylinders because the velocity stacks have less space to draw from, making them run a little bit more rich and cooler
An idea to look into
O2 sensors on each cylinder would be very interesting
Usually they use exhaust gas temperature sensors in each runner.
I think it's actually less back pressure because of firing order.
Make them run different length like church organs maybe...just a suggestion
I am a gear head at heart and in mind... But, I am not good with some things, so I have a hard time with the kind of math to do something like this. Every day I think of doing this with a Vq and to see someone actually do it gives me hope. Awesome job Speed Academy, congratulations.
Sasha literally never fails to impress us. Keep up the great work!
Awsome video guys! Can't wait to see you rip it on the track.
Seriously impressive. Congrats!
*Wow Awesome Numbers & Congrats!*
ITBs + Stroked = Heaven
Vicious VQ and 8000 rpm😍😍
Absolutely insane numbers... Looking forward to him tuning my BRZ in a couple of weeks!
That is an amazing built! Awesome sound
Congrats guys! Its mind blowing numbers. I'm proud to say that I'm using Jim Wolf ECU 🤘
Always with the great content, you guys never disappoint
Congratulations guys! This is an awesome achievement!
Awesome job on that VQ build!! Over 500 horses is really not too shabby!! :)
Holyyy shit its back!!!!! Excited for you, please more videos!!!
congrats Sasha cant wait for the track vids
Incredible. Very well done!
commented before i heard it run.. im so excited to hear this beast.
Gotta bump up these views. How can people not be stoked about this?
Oh wow, it makes more than 200 whp more than the majority of street-driven HR's. Congrats! This is a massive achievement.
So glad for Sasha, he deserves all that happiness!
Man I love this car, that engine is amazing. Sasha you are the man, I would love to take this car on the streets, lol.
This is crazy! Lovin’ the VQ Lovin’.
Amazing! Great job man!
In my TOP 5 favorite vids on RUclips!! what a machine.
Amazing build. Can't wait to see some crazy sasha race action 🤘
So wild. Awesome video and work.
🤣🤣 Sasha's reaction @ 0:05 is great, such a great guy. Respect for rocking the vq still.
I absolutely love this channel. I might even start giving you guys money lol 😂
I'd love to help you guys smash some lap times! Great numbers! Finally passing the IMSA engine power levels! Email me if you'd like to chat. Good work guys.
That is absolutely incredible! Will we see it running in any of the Ontario racing series this season?
LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats Sasha!
Congrats guys, this is incredible stuff. I never thought it would make this much! Any idea how much more a porsche rsr engine would make? I am almost as blown away to find out those engines still make more then this
just an absolutely filthy setup!! congrats sasha!
Love the sound of the ITBs!!
Holy shock towers, Batman! Those are huge.
Great engine, btw!
Oh lord JESUS! that engine! the noise! the power!
Sick!
Great job guys!
This is a dream come true and I have the q50 3.7 my goal was to trade that in for a Q60/G37 coup that’s has the VQ37 with the awd and build a NA motor to make over 450 awhp which as I see is def possible. This right here is confirmation of that if only there was more shops around like this to really get into that kind of build.
That is so freaking cool🤘 good work 💪 guys
I'm one of those rare birds who has an Injen CAI and Gibson stainless axle back on a 2004 Murano with 20" FX35 wheels. I cant leave anything alone.
Congrats!
Congratulations Sasha!
please follow a record braking sessions on tracks, and can't wait to see that hybrid system... great stuff
Can’t wait to see this thing fly!
truly awesome content
I put my headphones on for the pulls, was not disappointed.
Great video
the hill climb masters would be proud, this vq is a monster.... going to be passing ls swaps on the straight :P
Nothing like a NA motor kicking ass bringing power to the rollers.
this is just awesome, cant say anything else
AMAZING!!!
Just as a comparison, the Ferrari 458 is one of the highest HP/L production cars (N/A of course). The most powerful iteration of that motor makes 597 BHP from 4.5L of displacement (133 BHP/L). This VQ makes 537 WHP from 4.2L of displacement which equates to ~630 BHP = 150 HP/L
Looking forward to seeing this on the track...epic noise
Such a cool video!
Idea on the glowing headers
Middle header is either lean or rich compared to the outermost cylinders or possibly injector issues
Dude holding the camera has some serious balls! Standing so close like theres not a bunch of metal moving at high speeds right in front of him
Man. That car is gonna be a LOT of fun.
The sound is so good
Yes the LS3 6.2 has more torque at lower RPMs, but still what they have is an absolute remarkable achievement with a 'smaller' displacement engine.
I mean bore any motor almost a liter over with proper intake exhaust fuel system and tune and its gonna make a lot more power. Built internals so you can rev higher and get a wider powerband will do the same as well
@@E46TY hint LS7?
Or a junk 4.8 will have more torque than that with a tune and a few other goodies
@@timothyjensen3465 Still is a bigger displacement engine than the VQ - for countries that tax on displacement e.g. Japan and UK, that matters.
Just build for boost and call it a day, much easier and way more power.
So happy for Sacha,he must be elated with this outcome.
If he is we would never know...
Sasha thats just insane
Dude my boosted vq37 didn't even make that much power. I wasn't pushing it or anything but that's really fucking impressive
Sasha and kels are my HERO.
Imagine that engine in a Datsun 240z like one shown in Jay Leno Garage
Weak. People are already putting V10's in them.
Absolute madness. Hats off to Sasha, that man knows how to push the envelope.
Hello, supra daddy
@speed academy can you guys do a review and test on different types of race gas additive?
It's an AP2 350z!
The rebuttal episode 🔥🔥
Wow, I'm so happy for Sasha. Its an amazing machine. Porsche killer lol.
I'd love to know what that room temp is at as how many shops have a dyno setup like this to help keep the motor cool enough for these pulls. Most shops dynos get heat soaked. This is an amazing build for sure.
That’s quite impressive. Deserves a lot of respect. Especially in the days of turbo everything. Although my NA motor makes 700 horsepower, it does so with 9.4 liters at only 5200 rpm. But it has 500 ft lbs at 2800 rpm and 710 at 4700. But that’s just a mild 10:1 CR. Different strokes for different folks. Heh, literally.
Sweet Nissan though
This is how you build. Once you've experienced big NA power, you never go back. Turbos are fun but the real track weapons for sensitivity, longevity and reliability are high HP NA. End of story.
I run a dry sump LS3 with a custom Kelford cam, touched up rotating assy, custom SS LT headers and 3" exhaust in a T56 mag S2K. I have owned many litre bikes before that too, so NA is where I prefer.
never heard of anyone running a Kelford cam in a LS. What made you go that route?
Hell yeah!!! preach it brother. I'd take an NA engine every day of the week over a turbo one. I don't care if it makes more power nothing will ever replace the feel of a na v8.
U owned a liter bike in a straight line?! Or lap?
What an effort, serious bit of engineering right here. That engine note though... I suppose you can't have everything.
Right haha I was thinking the along the same lines. Meh put the air box on'er and a big catless exhaust, then hear those mega trumpets roar. But no really, I wonder how the exhaust sounds on this VQ.
Take it to the drag strip and set a all motor world record 😀
Joseph Flores
Cool motor but not a drag car. It would probably run mid 11s 😴
@@applebitefool Nothing wrong with that although ETs will be dependent on weight. It they strip the car out it will run 10's.
You 'd have to put that motor in a purpose built drag car, road race cars are not built for launches and straight line grip
Nick Kautz I mean there’s FBO e85 on tire stock engine/chasis/suspension/diff/axles with the VQ35DE variant running 11s that only made like 300ish whp.. I believe(RZGMOTORSPORTS). Now imagine a 4.2L at 500whp. I don’t get how this 350z would perform any differently? 500whp in a stock gutted 350z on tire would do a hella lot better than 11s no doubt. I don’t think I’m reaching if I say 10s either.
sage sokol exactly. Everyone likes to bash and underestimate the Z/VQ platform when it comes to drag racing. It’s usually V8 guys too. Maybe it’s because that’s all they have? It’s not too often you’ll catch a muscle/pony car drifting, auto cross, touge, track etc. Upsets them when they see a 350z, (which could arguably do it all), drag racing and getting 12s with a stock v6 engine and tire while there’s modern 6MT V8s out there that struggle to even crack 12s on the track.
2 wide bands and 6 egts would be most excellent, add pressure sensors to each Venturi to measure pressure differential between each induction horn.
No lightweight unorthodox racing crank pulley? Are they fine for mild na builds or do they destroy engines ?
This is amazing
Everyones sounds good with ITB's
So I can just call JWT and ask for the sasha VQ42 special?
Don't forget the blank cheque :P
Yes
Or Just get an LS throw heads/cam and make same power 😜
@@Smoki501 Yeah but do you know how badass it would be to use the same vq motor it came with? Major kudos. Anyone can make 5xx whp on an ls with i/h/c setup on any platform, but a vq? pretty epic
@@Smoki501 So when did an LS motor come as a 4.2L ?
Did you have to upgrade any of the timing chain/tensioner components? If so, what & how
