I bought my De from top tier japan , the engine only had 47k on it and it was super clean like it was brand new , had it in my car for 3-4 months car running good so far
Eric P how much did you pay for everything ?
How has the car been still running good?
I just did the same thing, probably one of the easiest swaps there is! Nice video guys
Did you leave the transmission in place or pull it out with the engine? Thanks!
I think it was straight forward but it wasn’t easy.
@@CameronAlford I left the transmission in the car mainly due to space constraints. Since you have space I would probably pull the transmission. It'll make the reinstall easier for sure.
@@CameronAlford I made a couple videos on the removal if you need any info!
@@qweeftomeetu mine went super smooth
Phoenix,AZ represent!!!
I drive my DE hard with 130k and i burn a little oil this makes me nervous lol, I do check my oil twice a week though.
How’s the swap man
@@georgealmerco4159 No need for swap! Still on original engine burns the same amount of oil. Did 8 drift events last year and 6 so far this year, I went through a clutch, 3rd gear started to grind, and rear wheel bearings. Pretty good I'd say.
@@z33tanner really givin her the work lmao haha im at 128k and i dont burn at all
I just did my jdm vq35de swap on my 350z early this January! Got my engine from jdm west coast and I couldn’t be happier. Mine came with the clutch and clutch plate! Man it was a headache I ended up putting the engine and trans together at the same time aligning them separate was impossible.
So do you recommend pulling the transmission out with the motor and connecting them outside of the car?
Cameron Alford sorry actually I did end up putting them separate. The subframe and power steering rack wouldn’t let me clear the tranny to go down. So what we ended up doing was going under the car pushing the tranny as close to the engine as we could getting two bolts then bringing it down. Then we connected the drive shaft.(which was the hardest part)
Oh and it’s very important you put the upper manifold and the throttle body from your old engine back on
I’m just going to to state all of the headaches I had with mine.
To start I replaced all the sensors and wiring harness including fuel rail and injectors( put my old ones). Except my nox sensor. Changed my valve covers( make sure you guys check those!) oh and checked the compression. Everything was good!
When the head gaskets went on my high mileage DE, I dropped my z off at Z1 for upgraded cams/heads package, and headers install. You have options, but an engine swap is probably most reliable, especially when the donor car is low mileage.
Hell yeah! VQ life forever. 🤙🤙🤙
Swapped a JDM De from JdmOrlando about 3 years ago, burns oil but she runs strong, usually dust American De’s, could just be driver mod 🤷♂️
Vqs are like $500 or less over here in PA
Dat Boi find me one for 500$😭
I seized my de and need to swap it find me one for 500
im not doing a swap but im replacing the crankshaft and bearings. oil pump. chains and tensioners. and also the clutch yeah i got the whole engine with tranny out
I got lucky enough to score a low mileage HR. Looking at what I have to do if this engine ever let's go is go straight to a 2jz or ls. I appreciate giving some info on where to find some decent jdm engines!
jus to clear something up the jdm import motors all low mileage like that because of emissions in japan. after about 50k miles they wont pass emissions there so either they have to replace the motor or get a new car because they don't maintain there vehicles like we do here.
Cant wait!
Good luck guys 🤘🏼
I paid someone to swap a 2005 Infiniti g35 coupe engine into my 2004 Nissan 350z. It’s shaking crazy but the temp stays half way and it’s been running solid for 220 miles so far 💯. 🖖🏽
How did that swap hold up ?
I had this question please answer Which motor swap is good for 350z which will give more horsepower and torque to the 350z?
drop it in and send it!
Straight fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dude you’re super under rated
Haven’t watched it yet but exciting!!
Finnaly a long-ish video
Great video! Autos have flex plates instead of the flywheels. Keep up the great work!
Wait y’all in Gilbert I thought u were out in Mesa. I live right by the edge of gilbert
Lol I thought they lived more in the north Phoenix region
I've had absolutely terrible luck with Nissans. No doubt the previous owner rode it hard, but they're also not very reliable off the bat. Best of luck.
Niiiiicccceeee. Keep up the great videos bros!
I have a 04 350z. I was wondering why you decided to buy a DE motor Instead of the HR. Since the DE is much slower. I’m considering upgrading
I’m in love with the Z I want one so bad but can’t find one for a good price but I will get one eventually
Get a g35 it's basically the same car
Hyped like it’s mine lol
What modifications did you have to do when swapping the engine? Considering it’s a jdm engine.
I’m asking because I’m trying to buy an engine for my 2005 manual 350z. All of the online sellers claim modifications need to be done.
🔥
Hey Cameron, was wondering if you guys have ever sent proposals to various companies for car parts in exchange for maybe exposure/advertising/testimonials. Was looking to get into this due to being low on funds for my build. Let me know, thanks.
Cousin works there it's pretty legit
Lets gooooooooo
Hey Cam i am about to buy a Z but the gray top of the engine is like corroded any thoughts on why that is?
When is part 2 expected to drop?
We're almost done!! Hopefully later this week
What’s the difference from the jdm one to the Usdm one ??
Not sure yet.. we'll let you know! LOL
Makes me feel Self conscience about having 164,000 on mine
Mine has 178,000 running strong lol
When mine goes out I was planning on just rebuilding which is probably going to be a while anyway
As long as u keep up with maintenance at least
Just stay on top of your oil level and consumption and you’re good. My original motor went at 92k and I bought the car at 82k. Guessing previous owner didn’t stay on top of it bc I was. Lol.
vq_nyek9103 damn so early
What are the stats on the red Z's wheels? Fitment looks 👌
Ben Craven they came off the white z
@@Tray2400 okay, what are the stats on the white Z's old wheels? Fitment looks 👌
hahah
I wish I knew.. they were on the Z when I bought them and the owner didnt know.
@@CameronAlford ah okay, no problem man. Thanks for the reply and keep up the good work! 🍻

Btw that 350z look extremely nice I have one but in white :/
Obviously we know what you’re doing. Most of this video was pointless explanations 🙄
nahh not pointless, helped me out a lot since I’m just getting into this
Lol the 50k mile motor from Japan because there is some law that penalizes citizens for "milage cars" has to be the greatest advertising scheme in human history. LMAO 🙃🙃🙃!! I mean people have been saying this since the 90's and some how all of the sr20's still have less than 50k miles? 🤔🤔🤔... Junkyard motors are basically what they are. Do yourself a favor, you and the mad scientist rip apart the block and replace the Pistons rings so you don't have the oil consumption issue and turbo it
