Ugh this song gives me shivers, the lady performing as Ann is such a good singer!
This musical was such a big inspiration for me writing my own musical, it's a shame it got a bad rep back on Broadway and then later on forgotten pretty much. The concept is pretty good in this show IMO.
Ivy astuin is one of my favorite voices for raggedy ann, and i'm here for it
Thank you so much for posting this! All the best, Ivy a/k/a Raggedy Ann!
+IVY AUSTIN And thank YOU so much for posting "Rag Dolly in the USSR!" You were really awesome in the role and I sincerely hope that someday a video of the full play surfaces (according to old press, the Russian performances were taped).
Great performance here! You've got an awesome voice!
hell5309 Thanks so much for your kind note-I really appreciate it 😀 Stay safe and healthy, Ivy
@@IvyAustinSings You too!
If you think of it, come on back to the stage!
hell5309 oh for sure I’ll be back....just don’t know where or when! Thanks
I remember a version of this aired on television.
Wait, really? When? Was it the animated one?
@@cowsquidman5679 Yes. I also remember a song "What's in the Box".
Those Creepy Wooden Twin Girls: "What's in the box? What's in the box? Gotta find out what's in the box!..... WHOOOAAAH-WOO."
ANDY: "Ahh, somethin' DUMB I'll bet."
@@blaskostoneisdedAh! Raggedy Ann and Andy: A musical adventure!
Fun fact: Originally apparently Mark Baker ( Our dearly beloved Andy in the 77’ Musical Adventure movie), was actually supposed to reprise his role as Andy for this musical (an earlier unfortunately (we assume?) either lost or never taped version before this one in 1983 a year before this version’s debut, where the Raggedies are in the circus or something, (and Scott who got the part for this actual final version was his understudy as well, unfortunately, Mark dropped out of the whole thing and Andy again when finding out Ann was gonna become more of the bigger lead role and popular and Andy was gonna be minor, so Scott took over as we all know as Andy in the end, (but I’m assuming Mark was actually gonna get the actual part as Andy in this version later on as well if he didn’t drop out, it’s not confirmed, but I think it was really likely).
Presumably, there's audio waiting to be rediscovered. William Gibson remarked in his journal that he listened to recordings of the '83 songs.
@@VinnieRattolle Oh, wow, I really hope the Raggedy Team could find it! (Or footage if it exists!) That would be really cool! :)
Thanks for posting. I love this musical
Beautiful!
Thanks so much!
I love Raggedy Ann and Andy but they look like clowns to me but they are so cute now that I saw some cool pictures of them...
1:56 ~ Since when was Dr. Frank-N-Furter in this musical?!
That's supposed to be a bat.
@@tristanbray2184 If it's a bat, it was obsessed enough with Michael Jackson to make itself up like him!

This singer's voice is harsh compared to the voice actress from the 1977 film.
In Ivy Austin's defense, the tempo's slower here, plus she's performing in a childlike voice that's not exactly her own. The film's Didi Conn (best known for portraying the pink-haired Frenchy in Grease) naturally sounds like she's been sucking on helium.
@@VinnieRattolle Thanks for your support. I must admit the keys I sang in were very high. 😂
@@VinnieRattolle Actually, I never heard her like that, but the thing is that in the film, neither Didi Conn (Ann) nor the late Mark Baker (Andy) tried to make themselves sound like children.
i personally prefer Ivy's rendition. it's real sweet :)
@@gwynfromRARE I like both.
