once i saw a video of some rando who was obsessed with collecting raggedy ann dolls. and whenever i see a raggedy ann doll, i always remember that one video.
Remember watching this with my dad growing up. I remember loving the part where they slip the heart into Raggedy Ann's mouth lol It looks like at 15:28 that there's a scene or two missing, where Raggedy Andy gets their names and is reunited with the camel. I looked at other versions of the cartoon though, and it doesn't exist there either. Also unfortunately there's a racist "mammy" character at 15:30 that I never noticed before I always cried at the scene where they have their hands sewn together. Just so sweet!
@kayc_x3 According to other comments about this video, the "mammy" character is Beloved Belindy, a character from the Raggedy Ann books. My sister's Raggedy Ann Magic Pebble card game from the 1970's (which is kind of like Old Maid) had a pair of Beloved Belindy cards.
I don't think it was meant to be racist. The doll in window is most definitely the doll in the books called Beloved Belindy and she was one of the most respected of the dolls next to Raggedy Ann and Andy. She was like the mother to everyone and made sure things ran smoothly. Her character was never belittled in anyway. She was treated with great respect. I actually have a Beloved Belindy doll created by a doll maker and she is one of my prized possessions.
It would be strange if it was a mammy because the fleischers were known for being very progressive for the time, painting black characters and musicians in a bright light such as Cab Calloway, either when their cartoons would be banned in some states

The book rights to Raggedy Ann and Andy are currently owned by Simon and Schuster, a long time sister company to Paramount from 1975-2005 and again from 2019-23, when Paramount Global sold S&S to KKR. The rights to make the dolls themselves are owned by Hasbro, which has had several of its properties adapted to film by Paramount, such as Transformers and G.I. Joe.
It's pretty standard for a cartoon of this time. 1941 was the year Tom & Jerry were given their own series, the year the Fleischers (who made this cartoon) made their first Superman cartoons, Bugs Bunny got his name, "Dumbo" was made at Disney. (there was also a massive animator's strike at Disney this year that would result in lots of Disney people going to other studios and the styles of American animation evolving in a short amount of time)
Why cant you believe this cartoon was made in 1941? Well, it wasn't. It wasn't "made" in 1941. The model sheets and production notes have a 1940 date on them. It was made in 1940, but Paramount did not release it until Easter 1941. I've always felt they missed the opportunity to develop this into a Christmas feature for 1940. They had the time, but for some reason this wasn't realized. It it had been a feature, the presence of The Paramount Studio Orchestra would have been something great as can be heard in the two Fleischer features.
The lack of communication that caused them to make Raggedy Ann and Andy lovers instead of siblings always irks me but the animation is so visually pleasing 😭
The animation is wonderful even though this Raggedy Ann and Andy are different from the books and media. The song at the end, i will admit the singing is great
Now, I wonder if the little girl is suppose to be Marcella from the books who had Raggedy Ann and Andy. Though, in the books, Marcella finds Raggedy Ann in her grandmother’s attic and after her grandmother sews her up a bit, she gives Raggedy Ann to Marcella.
Nice to see someone who remembers the story correctly. And no. Considering how the person who wrote this particular cartoon never read the books, I think that little girl is just a random character. Just like the blind girl in another old Raggedy Ann cartoon.
That was heartbreaking and cute and I like the way it ends with the little girl holding both Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy by bringing them home with her. I will get that for Christmas this year! 🎄🪆

9:15 I love that you can see the equipment used in this shot.
I can't believe this cartoon was made in 1941! 😯❤️
Wow this is beautifully restored!
The lack of communication that caused them to make Raggedy Ann and Andy lovers instead of siblings always irks me but the animation is so visually pleasing 😭
Before 2023: Nostalgia
2023 (and over): IS THAT RAGATHA FROM DIGITAL CIRCUS 🗣️😲🗣️😲🗣️😲🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️😲😲🗣️
Is pinochhio not digital circus
Beautiful movie. I’ve never seen it until now.
The UCLA watermark's a shame, but it's still exciting to see after decades of faded, washed-out TV prints.
why?
This is also a Family Show, And I Love It A Lot
Oh raggedy andy i so happy 🥹❤
Me to 💘💓❤
The animation is wonderful even though this Raggedy Ann and Andy are different from the books and media. The song at the end, i will admit the singing is great
15:14 I love how the monkey is just being silly and Andy is just shaking his head at maximum speed
This is just so cute- and the Camel with the wrinkled knees sounds like goofy-
That’s what I was thinking!.. Is he actually voiced by the actor who originally plays goofy?
Yes he was!
The canals voice actor is the same as goofys. IF YOU DONT KNOW WHO GOOFY IS THEN YOU LIVE UNDER A ROCK!
To be fair, you mean the original voice actor for goofy. Not bill farmer, the 80-90s known goofy.
Are the original books avaible to read online? I checked them up and they're like 700$ for each lol. Well my country's economy sucks so yea
I'm not cryin'...
We all cry
Seeing this restored is amazing
That was heartbreaking and cute and I like the way it ends with the little girl holding both Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy by bringing them home with her. I will get that for Christmas this year! 🎄🪆
11:30 I get Ann BUT WHY IS BRO ALSO CRYING
It's a fact
If ann cries
Everyone cries
amazing they are clothed in green and yellow . my dolls my grandma made me in the seventies had blue jean pants and pinafore and red and white gingham shirts …tysm this was cute
Hearing the voice of goofy in another cartoon,
Oh my gosh 😍
@animejunky2003 and @aaronatkinson177 ruclips.net/video/-BUr9CVDwt8/видео.html
(And this video is missing some cartoons, including "Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy".)
So happy to see this!
"what's your name?😊
I don't know😋"
I was 5 years old when I got my first raggedy ann and andy board game remember it always of my childhood
Raggedy Ann and Andy are the Kagamine siblings of old
I made a reel with their pic and the song _Electric Angel_
i love boyh
I wish a doll cost 50 cents nowadays 😭🤚
Fr
andy randomly dancing is so funny to me
My old Raggedy Ann is in storage with all my old stuffed animals.
why is this making me cry
WOW, that camel is awesome.
The flora scope looks like a modern day iPad
I really think that it is so beautiful and so lovely animation show video in the whole world 🌺
The fact they mistook andy and anne as a couple even though they're a brother and sister
Blame mickey and minnie, lol.
Ngl it’s kinda sad how Andy fell in love with that Hispanic girl I cried a little at the moment
Thanks so much for this video.
I Love This Cartoon Movie The Most
Andy song is so Sad 😭😭😭 oh my little raggedy Ann Raggedy Ann I love you 😭😭😭😭
The ending song made me tear up 😭❤️
I had a collection of Raggedy Ann books as a little boy but I don't recall reading them much. Disney films, Sesame Street, Electric Company were all more my tastes as a small boy.
Even they’re not supposed to be a couple but to be honest.. it’s a better love story than twilight😅🤷🏻♂️
OH HELL YEAH, Just when I had found out about the existence of this :)
Whoa whoa
Everything is very cute and beautiful until you remember that they are brothers
And that's why always read the book first
But the movie is still very cute and beautiful
I love this verison of Raggedy Ann and Andy ❤ (Even though I prefer the 1977 movie.) I like how they made them lovers instead of siblings.
Which was unnecessary to make them lovers because they’re Originally Brother and Sister

Why do u like that
The planet that has Ragland has an unbreathable atmosphere.
You'd die in less than a minute if you went there!
these types of cartoons feel so wholesome.
YO HOW COULD ANDY LEAVE HIS OWN SISTER TO GO RUN OFF WITH AN EXOTIC DANCER, man says he’s no girl’s toy and the proves himself wrong
Yeaaaa, uh, in this one ann and andy apparently MARRIED .3.
apparently the animation studio didn't read the books and assumed they were a couple
Sweet Home ALABAMA! Like WTF Andy and Ann
There was a raggedy Andy too!
I feel like there's a scene missing.
The camel with the wrinkled knees ❤
8:58 banger of the century
so sweet and innocent. nice backgrounds as well. thanks!
Ok i love the animation but in the book it said that they are brother and sister but if they we're in the vid then i would have liked it even more and its okay if the animator did not read the book
What a coincidence my mom grew up watching raggedy ann and andy when she was a kid!
I'm planning on drawing them :)
Films like this prove that people DO like nice things. People like more than just gun fights, car chases, explosions.
This is so Awesome
"Incest is Wincest" - Raggedy Ann
Also such a sweet and beutyful story.
This is so clear.
17:12 Nah cuz that little girl fr went 😦 She was like "I really just tried to seperated them!"
