I am grateful for growing up in this exciting time of TV mornings.
I loved this show when I was a kid. This was back when every kid got up early every Saturday morning and watched cartoons and kids shows like this till around noon then went out to play the rest of the day, for some reason networks stopped doing this.
"Saturday morning cartoons" gradually phased out partly because of laws prohibiting and limiting advertising to children, combined with an international trend towards specifically targeted children's programming channels(even on basic cable which itself became more accessible), in the last decade of previous century and first of this one(this is the period i knew as a child). Today, there is also the trends with online platforms and shorter content.
Networks, stopped doing this probably because people stopped consuming content this way. Also, although i relate to some of what you wrote about "saturday morning cartoons", which somewhat survived into this millenium of ours & playing outside both for me depending at which parent's home i was in. I remember "saturday morning cartoons" having a connotation of relative economic disadvantage.
Ummm so cable.
Yep, w/a bowel of cereal then the tv went off when "Soul Train" came on, around 12...but always watched the intro cuz it was cool...
Cable TV killed Saturday morning for kids.
i loved this show as a kid. the Sleestak were my favorites. truly no kid knows how good we had it back them. TV at its greatest..
Oh, Holly....(sigh).... I was only seven, but you were my first love.
i remember in 75 being 5 years old and loving this show..chaka the sleazetags and those scary dinasaurs for a 5 year old boy.
I was 4 years old and I remember this show. I was scared of the lizard people but I still watched it😂😂
Loved this show. I think this was one of my all-time favorites.
I loved this show as a kid! Watched every episode!
I used to love this show as a little child and only had a memory of people climbing up to get into that cave high up to avoid that dinosaur but completely forgot the title until last week when I saw the complete dvd set of Land of the Lost on amazon.ca and then I said out loud, "oh now I remember this show, that was the one I was thinking about that cave high up there". and I also remembered how much I loved that Holly girl because shes so pretty cute.
I remember the show... I didn't like the lizard people 😂🦎
she's also in this video ruclips.net/video/HXEUNh4dCmc/видео.html
Top three 70s crushes:
3. Kathy "Holly" Coleman, Land Of The Lost.
2. Kristy "Buddy" McNichol, Family.
1. June "Julie" Angela, The Electric Company.
For me it was Kim Richards. Sheesh, what a mess she's become! I wish her well, though.
Mine were the cartoon character Melanie from Josie And The Pussycats because i was so mesmerized by her giggles. 2. Penny Robinson from Lost In Space even though she was in the 60s show but it was constantly run on local networks during the 70s. 3. All the girls from the Short Circus Group on The Electric Company. 4.Julie Barnes from The Mod Squad. 5.Diana Prince/Wonder Woman of the TV Version. And 6. Lets not forget Jamie Somers from The Bionic Woman. Oh those ladies.
Oh! Kim Richards too from Escape To Witch Mountain(70s Original)including No Deposit No Return. Poor lady. Im praying for her to get well. It happens to us all. Addiction is terrible and it sucks.
Saturday mornings have never been the same since.
Agreed
yes, Super-friends
You are absolutely right my main cartoons were in the '70s and maybe a little 80 and 81 I was born in 66 so Land of the Lost was one of my main ones. Cartoons used to be only on Saturday mornings up until about dinner time but they were so good and there were so many from 5:00 in the morning till dinner
Damn right. We are paying for it now at our age. But I don't know if there was a better time to be alive. We were lucky
Ioved this show. Watched it with a big bowl of cereal and in my PJs, ah, the memories.
I love this show as a kid I still do couldn't wait for Saturday morning with a bowl of cereal in front of the TV
Being chased by a T-rex is one of my all time nightmares. Thanks LOTL!!
Loved this Show!
The Sleestaks scared yet fascinated me!
Sid and Marty Krofft dominated the TV during this time.
Land of the Lost
The Bugaloos
Sigmund and the Sea Monsters
Dr Shrinker
H.R. Pufnstuf
Electra Woman and Dynagirl
Far Out Space Nuts
Lidsville
Lost Saucer
And a lot more
Yep
About 30 years ago, I was fortunate to be invited to the 50th b-day party of one of the brothers. It was held outdoors in a new Los Angeles health food store parking lot. The best smoked salmon served. Every other party goer was obviously from a professional modeling agency! Two of the models got on top of a tiki hut and "posed" for an hour as the sun went down behind them. I never saw anything like that before at any party. It really was a great party.
Some great shows back then i remember Captain Kool and the kongs, man Saturday mornings in the 70's were the best!!
Wirra and Orry all grown up!!
Takes me back to my childhood..that damned dinosaur scared the hell outta me as a lil kid! I loved this show!!
I GREW UP WITH THIS SHOW AND THE KROFT SUPERSTAR HOUR!
OH MAN THOSE WERE THE DAYS!
I loved this show so much. 👍🏼
Still my favorite show!
Grew up in the 70s watching this show
My Dad moved us from Huntington Beach California to Stratford Missouri in 1975, I was 6 years old.. There was a float parade of some sorts in Springfield near my Dads grocery store he opened, Wesley was in the parade waving from either a float or open top car, I was so excited to see him in person… it was my favorite show! Great memories
I used to live in Stratford; Springfield now!
@@johndesade126 sorry, it was Strafford MO, not Stratford..
Watched it all the time as a kid.
I loved watching this show when I was a kid. Those were the good old days.
THERE WAS NOTHING LIKE THE SUPER 70'S ON SATURDAY MORNINGS FOR US KIDS GROWING UP. CLASS OF ROCKIN 84 HERE. AND YES KATHY, I HAD A CRUSH ON YOU!!.
Omg I loved this show as a kid. Was the best
Born in 1965 I was raised on Sid& Marty Kroft shows. They were exciting
Great Show .. Thank you !!!!
For years I hoped that someone would make a serious big-screen version of my favorite Saturday morning show. I was devastated when I heard that Will Ferrell was going to be starring in a comedic remake. Yet, although the movie wasn't what I had hoped for, I did end up loving it.
It was the greatest show with real plots and storylines.
Thank you for sharing this. 👍👍👍👍😊💝
I learned many years after Land Of The Lost went off the air, one of slezaks was a then teenage Bill Laimbeer, former 2x NBA champion with the Detroit Pistons and former WNBA head coach.
My Saturday mornings as a child.
I LOVED this show. Sleestaks scared the poop out of me. I still hear the hissing.
Love this show I wish I can go back to the 80s
It was on in the '70's
Yeah it was but on repeat into the 80s
Me too!
the sleestack went on to be the olsen twins
I can remember watching this on Saturday morning being in elementary school this and the Bugs bunny Rhode runner hour great memories of being a little kid
As a kid, I crushed so hard on Holly.
i really loved this show
Loved that show
a staple of my '70's youth! :)
I sometimes thought the effects were cheesy even as a kid in 74' , but as a kid I didn't care because I had an imagination.
Pylons, Skylons and Crystal Matrix Tables. The Four Crystal Colour combinations to make force fields, power up time doorways, aiming lasers, with further study you could produce water, light, fire and a gentle humming tone that calms when you sit with them for a few moments. TV shows will clue you in if you pay attention.
This is Jurassic Park b4 Jurassic park I wouldn't be surprise if Spielberg got it from here.
Used to love this show.
So many great and ICONIC TV 📺 SHOWS back in the 70's! Oh those Sleestacks.... yikes. The girl was inane of my crushes. Ugh I was a goof!
Love it
You didn't have to watch this show high..... but it sure did help.
loved him on Days of our Lives too.
favorite
Listen to Dad, watch out for Grumpy, make friends with Chaka, take care of Dopey, do your chores, try to get along with your sibling and always be on the lookout for danger. It wasn't too different from real life.
Had a big crush on Will
Sad thing though that Will boyfriend was Richard Chamberlain
Petrie screams: AAAAAAAAHHHHHH! Sharptooth!
I'm 51 yrs. old & still have nightmares about the Sleestack. As a kid I thought "Why do they keep going in the Sleestack's caves?" Of course, that's what made it so fun to watch.
It was 'in the script' for them to go into the caves...LOL!
I had a colossal crush on Holly! Glad to see she grew up to be a good looking woman!
👍 great
I love a movie that Valerie Bertinelli was Wesley Eure's girlfriend and Conrad Bain was her father. The movie was called "C.H.O.M.P.S."
I grew up with this show. Looking back at it is quite creepy. But I still love watching it. I'm still a kid at heart. I had a crush on Holly. And I yrs ago was wondering that when the cast changed. They altered the song lyrically to fit the change. The very first lyrics in the first song was I think grammatically wrong. Can someone talk to me about this please?
I watched it.
I am surprise Will had any time for his boyfriend Richard Chamberlain. Will was on Days of Lives during the week and Land Of the Lost on Saturdays.
I watched this every Saturday. There was also a another show right after this some bigfoot thing
My favorite show on Saturday. I had a colossal crush on Holly.
I watched it
Scully looked like Tom Poston.
My long hair earned me the nickname "Chaka". I kind of liked it ;)
😎👍
Kathy Coleman in Mike Curb Congregation.
Ahhh. The good old days. Had to be every kids favorite show. The will Farrell remake didn't do it justice. Imagine what they can do with the sleestack and dinosaurs with today's c.g.i.
The "Holly" actress has aged nicely!
Holly
Was so cute. Still have a crush
They got it wrong this is the land of the lost in 2022
There were two versions.
I have always wondered what exactly is "Routine" about an "Expidition"???
I kinda remembered this and thought it was ok until i clicked on it and those ass-hats started singing, i regret some of my childhood, i including this, we thought we had it so good, how dumb we were.
Wow! I loved watching this amazing show when I was just a kid and they did make a remake back in the early 90s but nothing beats the orginal! Also didn't like that terrible 🎥 that they made!
I had a crush on Will
No captain crud for me I preferred lucky charms because they were magically delicious and didn't rip the roof of my mouth to shreds.
If I understand the theme song correctly it says "Marshall, Will and Holly..." But what was their last name? They were the Marshall family, right? So was their dad's name Marshall Marshall? Am I wrong? Google tells me the dad's name was Rick so the song should have been "Rick, Will and Holly on a routine expedition....blah blah blah".
Enik wasn't a Sleestak, he was an Altrusian. There's a difference! :)
CHOKA LIKE ROLLY
SA-REES-O-TAKAH!
Where is chacha,...
The girl grew up to be beautiful! The monster looks the same.
When I was a kid, I wanted to do Holly😍😍.....haha..watched the show, but thought it was very stupid The Sleestak needed to move faster
All 3 of them having to repeat everything they say at every convention….UGH!!
I don’t understand why Kathy doesn’t wear a red plaid shirt at these things. Wil wears the blue shirt.
classic. they would be better leaders than modern day jerry springer politicians
Great Fuckin Show ! Too Bad they never got Back home like Quantum leap 😆😆🤣.
@Let Your LIGHT Forever Shine ❤️ 💃🕺
Chakka Koonie's brothers were mean to him. That's how brother's showed their love in the 70's. They kicked your butt. Bullying was a thing to make a man out of you. John Wayne types. Vietnam. Evel Knievel Muhammad Ali and Schwinn bikes. MAGA.
And black Trans Am's!
MARSHAL WILL AND HARRY
M error folks. Not creepy but cheezy.
The land of the looooooosttttttt
