Behind the scenes of possibly my favorite show ever!!!! Land of the Lost!!!! Thanks for making that show BETTER than its budget should have allowed!!!!
Man, such great history here. Totally took for granted the "stop motion" factor of Hamburger Helper, Pillsbury, etc, when I was a munchkin... Marshall Will and Holly... Thank you for this!
I love that he's got xp on his computer.
The interview was done in 2010.
@@piercefilm 🥳
Windows minus 1 version
00:19 to 00:24 , the CETACEAN from MAN FROM ATLANTIS with Patrick Duffy. Blew my mind when I saw that. I didn't know that was stop motion!!!
I ❤ the land of the lost. Never missed an episode when I was a kid.😄
Grumpy, Alice and Torchy...so endearing, so memorable, so 70s
Do you remember the living vacuum cleaners in that one universe Holly stopped at for a minute?
Seeing the Land of the Lost marquees is a very exciting revelation.
Such a great story about the rubber glove becoming a cow udder, LOL!!
I love this channel! Keeps me inspired to continue making videos all about the production of my favorite film: Waterworld!
Thanks! Have you seen my Waterworld segment? Amazing miniature work for that film.
I was on the Big Island, Hawaii and I met a local resident with a Waterworld prop rifle hanging on a wall in his garage. He said he saw it floating when he was fishing from his boat outside of Kawaihae Harbor so he scooped it out of the water without the film crew noticing. I don't know if that prop is in the film. It was a black futuristic rifle that was made to look weathered and aged. It's very cool looking. I asked him if it was for sale. He said no. Not for sale.
2:30 broke my heart (sigh)
Seriously fantastic! I've never seen (or read) an interview with Harry Walton before, who has had a pretty fascinating career and certainly deserves greater recognition for his work. The behind-the-scenes photographs he provided are treasures.
Such great background info (and *terrific* BTS shots)! I remember Harry being covered in Starlog magazine for the LOTL effects...nice to hear an actual interview. Possibly my favorite of the RUclips posts - thanks!
As a kid I read about the glove/water tank incident in _Starlog_ magazine!
So happy I found this channel, these are really interesting documentaries on miniatures and stop animation.
Thanks! More coming soon.
🔥
I really like those stop motion dinosaur figures.
What are those creatures at 5:00?
From the Star Wars Ewoks Caravan of Courage TV movie. They are also seen in the first season of Mandalorian.
@@piercefilm Thank you! I knew they were in Mandalorian but there they were cg, so I wondered where these practical ones could have come from - now it makes sense! I saw the Ewok movies as a kid but didn't even remember these creatures, though they seemed oddly familiar in Mandalorian 🙂
5:17 are those the aliens from Laserblast!?
yes
That movie….guilty pleasure!!! “I’m gonna during the hell out of this Pepsi”.. MST3000😆
Awesome
0:41 if you look ad the end of the show not sure what episode but this on the end credits like a temple area where trex is chasing them !
I loved this show as a kid for LOTS of reasons . Got it boxed on DVD these days... good stuff , great channel . Im a resent sub! :D
Thanks for watching. More coming up soon!
,,,,a cool video keep up the great content....
Thanks/Danke! More coming up soon.
Can some one please elaborate on the self illuminated miniature model pylons. How are they made?
can you give a timestamp of what you are referring to?
Just saw your comment on the devastating news about CINEFEX. Surely somebody in the industry could have helped, they were so much more than just a publication pushing for a story, they were an integral part of the industry, everyone read it religiously it always seemed.
People will have to go around like I did with this doc and just interview effects artists themselves.
@@piercefilm . Ha, ha yes, that’d be my idea of heaven actually as it must have been for you (well, apart from the hard work it must have been). I contacted Jody Duncan via a comment she made on RUclips and got an immediate and very frank response. They did campaign to the ‘industry’ asking for assistance and she was sad to say responses were rather lacking. What a terrible shame. Thanks for the reply.
The problem with Cinefex is that it became less interesting as effects became more digital.
The full season is on Tubi...You're welcome!!
No idea how I've missed this documentary for all these years, fantastic stuff! Can the DVD still be purchased? It's no longer available on Amazon and I'd really like to see the cohesive documentary, rather than just the clips here. If not, could we maybe get a Playlist that puts together the clips in their original order?
I think the DVD is sold out now. There is no particular order to these segments. Perhaps if you go by the year the films were made? There are so many segments and I haven't even finished editing some yet. Many more to come!
Huge Sid and Marty kroft fan land of the lost from 1974 one of my favorites saw land of the lost,lidsville,h.r.pufnstuff,sigmund and the sea monsters,Electra woman and dyna girl and the bugaloos they are my favorites too🤡
Big foot and wild boy
Anyone know what year(s) these interviews were shot?
Just fantastic stuff.
Most interviews done between 2010 and 2012. Some new ones added in 2021.
Maybe using a different mic setup, not clipping the mic to the person would improve the audio in all your uploads!
Apart from that complaint, great channel, really interesting behind the scene stuff!!!
When you have no budget you use what you have.
@@piercefilm Don't think money is your problem.
@@Zombie_Problem If you can donate a mic or find me a sound person who works free, let me know!
@@piercefilm No but you could place the mic so it doesn't rub up against clothing, surely that doesn't cost a thing!! Actually do have a mic I could donate but how long it would take to send from New Zealand is up in the air?
As much as I'm surprised ! i think this man made good decisions! but some of the worst as well ! star wars Dennis murrain ! turns down empire ! and the clash of the titan's oh my !
