    Excellent video, well explained and scientific testing as opposed to all of the other videos related to bricking which mainly are just rants and have anecdotal evidence. Looking forward to your next tests. I recently bought a dongle dock similar to the cfans model and it worked fine but decided against using it again after all the bricking news.

    In a perfect world, we can save all the Switches which were affected by poor electrical design and lack of compliance with the standards. In this world, we also would have expected that Nintendo would never follow electrical standards, even at the risk of their products when used with other accessories.
    Even if this world is not perfect, I, as a fellow systems engineer, am glad that a team out there who finds that it's worth the time to look into a critical issue like this. I hope your kickstarter goes well, and I look forward to seeing a well designed product on the shelves soon!

    I'm curious about something- the Genki Bluetooth adapter originally wasn't going to include pass through charging due to concerns with bricking. Eventually they said they did research into what causes bricking and found a way to do it safely, leading to pass through charging on the production model. I'm curious to see your analysis of the power supply that the Genki provides. If you could include that in a future video I would be very grateful.
    Thank you for this video! I found it very informative. I had wanted to get a compact portable dock and had planned on getting a cheaper one on Amazon at first. However, after watching this video I will be much more careful what products I get to power my Switch. I'm glad you're doing so much work to ensure the jumpgate safely does what it's supposed to. judging from this video, charging isn't the real problem. it's docking the switch. it looks like the switch wants to switch 'modes' when it knows it's in a 'dock'. Then it tries to do something interesting and when the power supply and electronics cannot match that it damages the console.

It can only be fixed by replacing the chip, which cannot be done by yourself. You can contact Nintendo to enquire about a repair. Best of luck!

      You might be good if you use a reputable brand. Don't cheap out, you might brick your switch; a $300 value. You can spend a bit more to make sure your switch is protected. Also, something you can do is buying a dock shell and ripping the official dock apart and transferring the parts to the dock shell. This has no risk of bricking your switch but it could ruin the circuit boards of the dock. Wulff Den has a great video on this titled: The Only Safe, Portable Nintendo Switch Dock.

    I think this Jumpgate is awesome, I see myself using this mostly for my Switch. However, I wish there is a built in LAN port ; all docks offer hdmi and usb expansions, rarely do they include a LAN port. It's frustrating when on a competitive online game and that jolt of a wifi slow down just happens to time on you. GRRRRRRR!!!! :)

    • @skullco.supportteam5747
      @skullco.supportteam5747 5 лет назад +3

      Unfortunately, if there was a LAN port, the Core Drive would not be portable. Also, WIFI is developing rapidly, and LAN is pretty old tech, which is why most companies have stopped making products with LAN ports.
      It's not difficult to find an Ethernet adapter on Amazon or eBay, but please make sure it supports Switch before making your purchase :) If you have further queries please feel free to email us at support@skullnco.com

    Wulff Den says, Bricking is also caused by using the wrong Power delivery Protocol, so this is not a 100 % sure Thing, am I right ?

    • @skullco.supportteam5747
      @skullco.supportteam5747 5 лет назад +1

      Bricking is caused by using the incorrect cable or by incorrect PD protocol. Not sure we understand your question...

    • @i8u2manytimes
      @i8u2manytimes 5 лет назад

      Rewording the question for thus person: there were people, including a RUclipsr called Wulf Den, who states that the switch does not use the PD protocol that everything else uses but instead uses something weird. How does yours work if it uses the pd protocol while the switch uses something different

    • @skullco.supportteam5747
      @skullco.supportteam5747 5 лет назад +1

      As far as we know, most companies amend the PD protocols to enhance the performance of their products. As long as they do touch the main frame, their products should work flawlessly with other accessories. The PD protocols in the Switch have been amended too, but the main frame does not change. Some 3rd party companies made portable docks with bad PD protocols. What we do is hire experienced engineers and work with professional PD suppliers.

    Edit: no. It was a system crash actually ;)

    • @skullnco
      @skullnco  2 года назад +1

      We apologize for your inconvenience. What has most likely occurred is a system crash, not a bricking issue. This can happen even with the official Nintendo Switch dock.
      This can sometimes happen as the Switch does not follow standard PD protocol and when it was connected to the Jumpgate is shut down as it could not read the Jumpgate's PD protocol.
      All you need to do is hold down the power button on the Switch for 10-15 seconds and it should re-boot. It's unlikely that this will occur again.
      Please check out information about the bricking issue here: switchchargers.com/nintendo-switch-bricking-faq/ ruclips.net/video/u6INIHrZBGg/видео.html Please let us know if you need further assistance.
