I usually just tell people to stick with the Nintendo Dock because Nintendo will warranty the bricking issue. Then again I guess you could always just say you were using the regular dock lol. Anyway good video :3

I did my research and pulled the trigger on this one. Skull & Co made sure that it's completely safe to work with the Switch. I have personally used them in my oversea trip. Worked flawlessly. It certainly saved a lot of carrying space there.

Do you use the official switch charger for the dock?
With third party docks I recommend using the official charger as it’s designed for the Switch and has its own built in protection. However you can use third party chargers too. Skull and Co sells a good quality one.
I was wondering how his setup is, I am planning to do something similar, but the switch adapter doesn't support (qualcom) quick charge on phones, so I'd like to know how's using the switch adapter on dex

At this point, I really do appreciate these 3rd party docks and how it helps to charge your switch and move it around from TV to TV. This dock being featured today is pretty nice. However, there could be more new portable docks coming in the way so I’d keep an eye out just in case. The Skull and Co Jumpcate dock is amazing that my friend even has one. He can set up his switch on my TV under 7 minutes. It’s quite hassle-free and safer than the others.
Thanks for sharing your experience with it Serayanie! I do hope Nintendo makes a smaller more portable dock but I don’t see it happening. If it does happen it would probably be Hori or PDP but even then I’m not sure about it. But hopefully 👌

I’ve ordered a Genki: Covert Dock. For portability I don’t think you can beat it. They have also done a lot of research to prevent bricking too.

I've been using the C-Force CF003 dock for over a year and it's been really good. It's very portable, which is great for me because I take it to other places on holiday, or to friend's houses. I use it for Samsung DeX as well.

I was one of the Kickstarter supporters for this, and it has saved me multiple times as far as taking a dock with me without it being too bulky. Also, unlike the official dock, this can be used for tabletop play as it won’t look for an HDMI feed unless one is plugged in between the dock and input source. I’ve also recased my official dock into a smaller shell, thinking that it would also work as a tabletop play option, but unfortunately because of how the dock’s motherboard works, as soon as you dock the Switch into it, the Switch immediately tries to look for a video out feed from a TV or monitor, even without an HDMI cable plugged into the dock.
The Skull & Co. dock will also fit into the middle compartment of the carrying case they sell, albeit a bit snuggly.
That’s awesome you were one of their kickstarter supporters! And that’s really interesting to hear about the tabletop thing. Didn’t realize that! Just another great benefit of the JumpGate. Thanks for sharing your experience! 😁👍
Do you have issues when working with MAC? The card reader craps out all the time.
@@yotaiji012 I’ve never personally used the Card Reader so I wouldn’t know. Check to see if it’s on the latest firmware and if not, update the firmware on the dock, but I can’t give any more help than that otherwise.

@@yotaiji012 Then it’s more than likely either the Card Reader is defective, or your Mac has issues detecting that portion of the JumpGate. I use it just for my Switch and nothing else. Sorry I can’t provide any real solutions to the problem :(

(not a portable hub mode) There is no effect on power and TV connection, but there is no response from usb port. However, it works when connected in core mode. Is there a problem with my machine?

I nearly bought the Gulikit myself. My hold-up on the Skull & Co dock was its Amazon absence. Finally I bit the bullet, and ordered the Jump Gate directly from the company. Little did I know that it had to make its way here from Guangzhou, China. Ha! It finally arrived yesterday. Took 16 days. I'm going to set it up in the living room. That was the whole purpose of my quest for a 2nd dock (which started with a shock over the gouge pricing of the official dock on Amazon, and its general scarcity). I didn't want to have to transplant my Switch dock every time I want to use it on the living-room TV. The core would do nicely as a travel thing if needed; but really, I don't travel around much with the Switch.
Would have been nice for you to show us all the features being used. Like the pop-up thing for docking stuff, rather than just quick 3 second snippets of each feature you were talking about at the time.

Hi! My PC monitor screen is still using a VGA cable. Is it still possible to use this dock? I have a cord that converts the VGA cable to HDMI, so this is the one that connects to the dock.
I bought a 3rd party HDMI adapter on amazon for $20.97. The seller name was yaeye. It does work. Only problem was when it heated up from use, it would not work sometimes.

I have a USB C cable that came with my LEPOW 15.6 portable display that I can run off my Sense 8+ 30,000 mah battery. The USB C will dock the switch directly to the portable monitor. Or you can use the HDMI from the Switch dock to the mini HDMI port on the monitor.

Directly connecting through USB Type C to the monitor without a dock will only screen mirror. Meaning you'll only end up with 720p.

Yes it does, it has up to 100 watts of charging but when plugged into switch it will charge the full safe amount for the Switch. It’s optimized to work exactly like the regular switch dock.

The jump gate dock is safe. I’ve watched thier video on what causes the bricking. And thiers behaves exactly the same as the oem dock

I ordered mine a while back from their website and it just shipped out today. I really want one for my home set up because using the original dock with the Skull&Co gripcase blocks off the USB ports for GC adapters and this one won’t. Have you tried using a GC adapter with your jumpgate?

YES! It actually does. For a second I thought it didn’t but then I checked and it fits perfectly. Great idea, I’m going use this for my Switch and Switch Lite now! Also this is good for table top mode as well.

The Mumba battle does not work unfortunately 😞 you could try getting a dock extender for the official dock!

Personally I like the official Nintendo dock. I've not had any problems with it and yeah while it might scratch my screen I could care less (maybe) because I mostly play docked anyway. I would love if Nintendo actually made a dock where it wouldn't scratch your screen because I'm a little reluctant on purchasing third party docks. But great review!

Is it possible to get faster LAN internet speeds by plugging into either USB 3.0 port?
Nintendo has it on their dock but the 3.0 USB hasn't been turned activated to use 3.0 speed.

Do physical games Update and gets dlc’s or do you have to go to a store or something?
Updated and DLC go onto your system memory or SD card. You update by hitting + and you get DLC in the eshop
I've been using it for months I take it everywhere with me. Got it from the original release on on kickstarter. Haven't had a single issue with it. Dock it at work, the inlaws pretty much anywhere. So I completely agree and they test it every time a new update comes out.
The other thing not mentioned is it gets rid of the heat build up issue with the original dock. Since when you pop it up it let's the switch breath. Which is a major fail of the original dock which caused the bending issue with heat build up.
Oh yeah that’s a good point, I figured it had better cooling but I wasn’t sure so I didn’t mentioned. That’s good to know! And thanks for sharing your experience. That’s awesome that you were an initial backer on Kickstarter. Also I love how they post a video testing it every single update, that really helps you put your mind at ease.
I'm a just going to mod my dock, as you can buy cases to transfer it into which are a lot smaller

I personally only use my Switch docked. I have the dock crammed in sort of a tight space in my AV setup, which makes docking kind of awkward, so I'm kind of interested in third party docks, but it's not a big deal to me since I use the Switch exclusively like a traditional console.
Honestly for a cramped space the official dock is probably going to be the easiest method for docking. There is a height advantage with the JumpGate but it’s wider so it might not fit in all the same places. Since you don’t take it out of the dock I’d say stick with the official 👍
I bought the Gulikit Portable Dock since I use their Bluetooth adapter & attachable Power Bank but since this case can support most cases, im returning the Gulikit Dock & bought this one.👍🏽
Oh nice! Yeah the compatibility with thin cases is a great feature. Gulikit is definitely a good brand too though, I need to check out their power bank. Do you recommend it?
TimeLag Gaming - i enjoy it. I have 3. I did super glue the attachment on back of the mumba case I have though.Lol Thats my only issue with the Gulikit Power bank, that the Switch is naked with it attached but with the attachment glued onto the mumbacase, problem solved.

What about The gulikit dock. I havent heard any issues with that. I saw someone saying jumpgate bricked their switch, so should i buy jumpgate or gulikit. (Gulikit is 20$ cheaper tho)
I've used the jumpgate since day one with 0 issues. The one person that I saw say it bricked it on reddit was an idiot. An the switch was just in that b.s. mode where it gets stuck switching for a moment. He rushed to say something and later corrected that it wasn't bricked.
If you wanting to be thorough always update in handheld which info anyway. An you can see on their website where they always test the latest update with it on the jumpgate.

I’ve heard good things about the Gulikit dock as well. I’m going to reviewing that one and few others in 2020. And yeah as Enate said that person on reddit who thought it bricked was wrong and it was just in a certain odd state where you can just power it back on. There hasn’t been a single incident of bricking on the JumpGate. I personally would trust the JumpGate dock more than Gulikit but I’m going to do more research into the Gulikit for that upcoming video I mentioned

Mine doesn't seem to be able to porperly connect with the skull and co grip.. Even tho it's advertised to do so... It seems the border is to thick so that de usb c doesn't go in far enough
You have to turn it to case mode by adjusting the setting on the bottom

I really want a Mac for christmas, I know that doesn't really have to do with the video but my windows 9 is so slow and a laptop would be great. You ju8st put a mac in the video and it just reminded me. Also, I'm trying to get gamecube emulators going but my pc is just too old. And also I'm just saying you should make a video on emulators and stuff.

Well this dock does actually have better ventilation so maybe go for it. But if you don’t trust it then don’t. But I completely trust third party docks like this. It’s up to you. But honestly you could just buy a new V2 Switch and sell your old for the same price. The V2 runs cooler.

They actually do but none of their stuff is available right now because of everything going on. By the way you can order most stuff from Amazon US and have it shipped to Europe for free. But you can also just order off their website.

Question: The Nintendo Switch Lite got this Nintendo flip cover which looks incredible practical for those of us playing while traveling. I want that one for my Switch. Do u think Nintendo will make a flip cover like that for the original Switch?
I have that flip cover and it’s my favorite accessory for the Switch Lite. I don’t think they’ll make it for the regular Switch unfortunately. They totally should, it’s really easy to take the Switch out of it so it wouldn’t be a problem for docking. So I would love it if they did but I don’t think they will because I feel like they would have already made it. But hopefully I’m wrong.
@@TimeLagGaming If I could afford a Lite, I'd buy it just for the flip case and the simplisity for when traveling. But yeah, for once I do hope you're wrong and that they'll make one for the Switch. If they don't, do you think a petition would help?

I've never even heard of this dock until now. I have been wary of using any third party docks, but it would be really nice to have one a portable one to take with me. I play docked probably 80% - 90% of the time.
I personally trust a lot of third party docks now, most in fact. It’s definitely nice to have for portability or to hook up to a different TV in the house. But of course it’s up to you if you find it worth it or not and if you trust it.
