The drag queen called Latrice Royale was regularly taking other queens to church and lifting their spirits at the start of every day with that phrase ("Jesus is a biscuit, let him sop you up!"). So, as much as I'd hate to ruin r/menwritingwomen's day (I wouldn't), this is yet another case of a women writing women. Fred Haley was a pseudonym for a woman named Monica Roberts. I imagine a lot of the "men" writing these books were actually pseudonyms for women, because the only thing more scandalous than lesbian erotica is lesbian erotica written by a woman.
EDIT: Oh god she actually did research into the provenance of the book.
