Great question. Per the Texas Parks and Wildlife, it’s red on the left and green on the right. I had to triple check myself because I thought it was the other way around as well. tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/boat/safety/vessel_requirements/
Chris Payne lol I use to be in USCG and I’m embarrassed if I get into night fishing I’ll look this company up. Will subscribe from one Hobie junkie to another
Great video, but a word of advice, do not touch the surface after cleaning, your finger print oils can hamper the bond, also it is best to clean, abrade, and clean again, then apply your tape. 3M VHB Tapes are one of my product lines at 3M.
Came across your video great video nice kayak it looks good but just one thing that’s confusing on your NAV lights on your porch side the NAV light is red then you have a green one beside then on the stern of your kayak you have a green light on the port side not sure if you’re running a stern light but then you’re confusing I’m coming boats I am not trying to knock your video you did a great job on everything you might wanna look into that
How are you plugging the switched sae plug of the y splitter into the control box? Because all of the control box outputs are regular sae plugs not switched.
Great video! I have looked at darn near every video available regarding Yak-Power and cannot find a single video that has the external LED's (i.e. 20" & 10") as well as an anchor trolley system. Is this coincidence or is it a one or the other situation?
Eric Gadson I have a color deficiency in my eyesight and red light at night makes all the colors black. With green light I can see all the shades I need to.
Awesome video .Once you inserted the wires for the front lights could you have fished them in at the same time you inserted them in the hull? I am asking as a newbie?
@@ChrisPayneReviews can you post a pic of that side? I already have the Hobie trolley on my yak. I have the button lights on the bow and in the seat area. I want to add the strip lights on the side like you did but interference was my concern. My Hobie trolley is mounted above where you placed the blue tape. I have 2 guides but the lower half of the trolley cannot be in guides. My worry is that when there is something attached to the trolley like a stringer or anchor or stake out pole, the cord would snag the light.
@@jeffcarter5244 you may get some interference if you mount too far forward. Going to be a bit before I can get a pic. You could always run additional pad eyes to reduce slack near the midships.
@@ChrisPayneReviews My trolley was mounted when I got the 2019 outback. The pulleys are very far forward and aft. I had nav lights on the bow but since I am not under power, they are not legal here. I switched to blue. Have red lights in cockpit area. Yakpower spotlight (usb) and yakpower battery box with 2 10Ah lithium batteries. I have the 5 way switch with bluetooth adapter. Is green best color for lighting water and banks? If so, why?
The green and red navigation light could be very confusing when traveling on the water for others. Especially since they’re both on at the same time. How come you did it that way?
Dude, so I have the Yak power LEDs the guy that owned it previously took the power system all I have is the AUX Jack/SAE. When I plug them in nothing happens and it blows a fuse in the battery box. Is there a specific way the AUX end has to go into the SAE. Negative/ Positive ?
Without the power system the positive and negative are not routed correctly. You should email or call the company and ask them for guidance on the easiest way to remedy.
So after installing all mine and trailering my yak to the philadelphia fish show and back some thoughts. First off and mainly the adhesive strip on the backs of the LED strips suck. I prepped the area with alcohol waited for it to dry and stuck them to the hull. They held for about two days and even then the tip would start coming unstuck. I did not put in the screws at the end to try to cut back on holes in the hull but now it is not gonna be an option.
Do you mind posting video of the kayak on the water at night? Would like to see how the lights penetrates the water. Also do you need the lights on the pockets, can you get away with just the two on the rear of the seat, do you mind just showing the difference or can I send you a DM so you can send me some pictures? I'm very interested in doing this to my hobie.
Great vid. So glad they went with a smaller hole for the control module that's mounted above deck.
Appreciate the vid! I am setting up my yak power system in my Native Titan 13.5 this week.
Question what would be your recommendation for my hull lights playing well with my anchor trolley?
I love this vid and how user friendly the yak power products are! Cant wait to do this to my yak! Thank you for the great content!!
Tip: Place a submersible potentiometer on the power wire to create a dimmer for your interior lights. (Bourns has one IP64&65 rated)
Great video, appreciate the information. Do you happen to have a “shopping list” that you could provide of all of the components for this build?
Always wondered how those installed great video
how big a hole do you drill for the Power Port 12v Outlet?
I’m wondering the same, the thing is oval shaped and not round, anyone?
The red/green lights, aren’t they supposed to be green on port/left red starboard/right? Great video either way

kcliff907 man, if I had a nickel every time I misremembered lol. Live that everyday. No need to be embarrassed. Tightlines my Hobie brother!
One day perhaps I could do that....thanks. Great video

Thought about buying a Nilight led whip light like for a jeep and make it my 360° white light for my Yak.

How do you turn off the Bluetooth light?? Mine blinks. Real battery drainer
why do you use green instead of white light?
What its the bit size?
Great setup and breakdown on the process! Just curious, what made you use green lighting instead of red within the deck?
Eric Gadson I have a color deficiency in my eyesight and red light at night makes all the colors black. With green light I can see all the shades I need to.
@@ChrisPayneReviews Gotcha and well understood!
@@ChrisPayneReviews I've heard the green lights don't attract bugs as bad either? Could you tell me if that is true from your experience
What other colors do you recommend for button deck light that will not mess with your eyes night vision thanks
i was wondering the same thing. I think red or white would probably be best for deck lights it would seem.
Can we get that shopping list like the guy below me asked for haha
DUDE LOOK'S GOOD ,,,,,IM DOING MINE AS WELL GREEN LIGHTS ,,,,,AND WITH A TWIST BLUE LIT UP ROD TUBES
Looking for yak upgrades and who do I find my idol baitmaker 🤣🤘🏼💀🤘🏼
Awesome video .Once you inserted the wires for the front lights could you have fished them in at the same time you inserted them in the hull? I am asking as a newbie?
Yep
Did you ever put an anchor trolley on this yak? If so, how did it work with the light strips in the front/rear? Did it snag on the lights?
I put the anchor trolley above the lights and used the YakAttack HD with the guides so I could keep the line out of the way.

Kenton Lemon it’s state law in Texas to be done that way.
What are your thoughts on the 10 inch strips for the navigation lights instead of the 2 sets of buttons. You can buy 1 green and 1 red.
Kenton Lemon those should work fine and be able to be seen without issue.
Awesome video
Thanks 🙏

Brian Thomas what kind of kayak do you have?
Native Titan 13.5
Brian Thomas can you email me some pictures of the lights. Paynefish@gmail.com. I’ll get in touch with the company and see if they have a solution.
I’ll take the pics tommorow and shoot them to you

Nice job . Thanks for sharing
Sweet, I’d like to do mind but afraid of messing up.
Rev BigJohn's Backyard Fishn start small and work your way up! That first drill hole is the hardest.
I couldn’t find the 2019 kit.
Rev BigJohn's Backyard Fishn sorry about that. Should see it up on the yak-power.com site sometime around Spring Break.
Nice as long as you don't capsize your yak
CHRISSSS PAYYYNEE!!!!!!!!!
Tim Wisener keep clicking replay. That’s what all the cool kids are doing.
Red Right Return 😮
you can buy a fiberglass rod at a hardware store that will work instead of a fly rod.
Super nice and easy but very expensive.
awesome
good job
