    Awesome set-up. I love my 22' sportsman 120 pdl. I just added my new J2 Bixpy PP 768, with the Bixpy rudder kit, which is the vibe Gravity rudder. I purchased the matte black platform for the deck, from Navarre fishing. And I believe he makes the bow mount for just about any kayak. But depending on where i'm fishing, sometimes I'll leave my PDL at home plug my deck and just use the now high powered Bixpy. But that bow mount trolling motor is coming. So I'll have 3 different setups. And the Oldtown is built so thick and rugged, the bow will not sag on the water. Stay safe my friend. 🌊 🛶 🎣 🌴

    I do a lot of marsh / coastal fishing in South Carolina out of my Auto Pilot 120. I've been looking for a secondary (backup) propulsion system in case my Minn Kota goes down while I'm 5 miles from the launch in the tides and wind. My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

      Thank you David! I try to DIY as much as possible. Except things like changing my oil 🤣 I’m hoping by next winter I’ll be able to go down to Florida for some fishing when it’s cold here 🧜‍♀️🎣

    To me it's like electric why u want I bike that does the work the enjoyment come from peddling and paddling otherwise I be in motorcycle or boat

    • @finsandfossils
      @finsandfossils  Год назад

      I still do plenty of pedaling, but sometimes it’s just too much. It’s a great way to assist with pedaling when the current is strong.

    Nice addition to the kayak , 1 question ,when you are peddling does that recharge the battery ? There must be a device that is available ? If not , I'll invent one .
    Love your accent , maybe wings on the kayak 🛶 could be next addition? Lol

    Don’t understand why u don’t just strap a trolling motor on the side of your kayak for $199.00 or u can drill and cut into your kayak and install a bixby fOR $1600.00 ITS A NO BRAINER For ME

    • @kennethrogers1129
      @kennethrogers1129 11 месяцев назад +1

      There is a considerable weight difference, but that’s what I did, fabricated a mount and stick control for an old trolling motor, light weight batteries are so expensive though

  • @knowsbetter1
    @knowsbetter1 Год назад +3

    Isn't leaving peddles in creating lots of resistance on the motor?

    • @finsandfossils
      @finsandfossils  Год назад +4

      Not really. If you pull the pedals up, water pours in and creates more resistance. I mostly use the pedals and motor together.

      @@finsandfossils I use a side mount trolling motor on my PDL 106. I remove the propeller from the PDL when I am trolling and lock the assembly in place. So, I don't get any propeller drag or water drag from having the PDL in the upright position.

    Great video! Have you heard about senate bill 686? It's going to give the Marine Fisheries the power to shut down fishing even for just catch and release. The truth behind where and how it originated and it's actual purpose will blow you away. You have a big voice in the community and we need this to be heard. If you're interested let me know and I'll send you my email or social media. It's way too much to cover here and some aspects are confidential.
