I have the bixpy j2 pod mounted to my big fish 120 and I have my yak loaded down with all my fishing stuff and cooler and tackle box etc, and 3 mph is about top speed for me but non the less the bixpy is very efficient and has been a big game changer for me, I mainly do alot of trolling and have caught alot of fish, and what I like about bixpy is that it's as simple as plug and play, very easy to install on any yak, it may not be the fastest or quietest motor but it's so simple to install that it's a winner in my book, I typically troll on speed 1 and 2 all day, 6 to 10hrs and still have 3 or 4 lights left on the battery, and the unit is very light weight so it's perfect for yaks, I have had my bixpy for 3 years and have been on the water many many times and have no regrets about it, it will change your fishing game 100 percent I simply love this little thing
Thank you. Your video was the tipping point. I'll be installing the K-1 on my Hobie PA12. Now to your video, it was clear, clean, and directly to the point. A great thing when looking for info! 👈🏽👍🏽
Nick, It'll get up to 4.5, I think it was windy. But, all boats are different, our setups, and conditions. Speeds 7-10 should last you all day. You'll love it bro. I have the PP-768 J2 Bixpy, with my fins, and it's the perfect setup. I've never run out of battery. In the future you can always get a 2nd battery. They're Bluetooth compatible. And you'll never run low. 🌊 🎣 🛶
I’ve owned and utilized the Bixpy Jet on 3 different kayaks and feel it is very lightweight and robust, especially when used in a non-steering, rigid setup. Although quiet, I can see how its motor might spook fish so I would not use it once I’m on the fishing spot.
I think as we get older those of us that are hardheaded need to realize from time to time we need a little extra help. If I do not get a Oldtown with a motor already on it I think that I will set up a kayak similar to what you have. Great video as always.
Thanks for this video! I just ordered one and opted for the cassette mount instead of stern mount. For me, I intend to only use it for making long moves, or “just in case” scenarios, or fighting heavy current like in a river, etc., so I did not really feel like I needed the option to pedal + motor at once. But we’ll see!
the best of both worlds.... just wondering if the Hobie wings could actually be a friction drag when running electric.... test with vs without them deployed????
haha, I just got my Bixpy today. Still unpacking, Charging, Setting it up. Haven't mounted it yet but it's going on my Lynx. I got the larger battery but I'm wondering if that was a mistake and maybe I should have gone with the smaller battery.
😎What it do?! Nice to this vid with the Bixpy. It should make a big difference for you , especially on those days when you need that extra push to get back. Looking forward to more awesome content. 💯👍
I really want to put this on my vibe sea ghost 130. Vibe makes a rudder replacement that accepts the bixpy motor. I think it will be my next kayak upgrade.
Mounted on my Impulse 120 rudder and still being a kayak newbie I’m really feeling spoiled with the Bixpy. I think I use it more for getting out to my spot then cut off and peddle while fishing. Sure made a difference in how fatigued I was after 3-4 hours.
I tried putting the controller on my wrist and didn’t like it. It occupies two hands to operate it. I strap it to the right side H rail (that little slot at the back). I can operate it with my right index finger will controlling the rod or rudder with my left hand.
Let us know how you make out when you are fishing, and if the motor puts them down. I just put one on my kayak, I usually troll and get 30 fish or more (white perch) and I only got 3 all day. There seems to be an issue with the sound of this motor that was confirmed by a few other owners of the K-1 that just turns the fish off. Hope your results are different - subscribed.
As I get older, motorized is becoming a must. By the time you have the weight and cost of a Bixpy and outback id be considering something like the milha lite skiff or something like trailerchasers setup that will get you further faster.
@@TheFishingMommy plus the 100lbs kayak, plus his fishing tackle, plus his sonar, and anything else he's bringing. The weight and the cost is not small. Unless you have a truck youre trailering the setup. The setup is also $6k. Nick stated the reason he wants the motor is to reach more spots and do less work. That could be accomplished more efficiently with a different setup for the same or less money.
@@ETuss713 right! I was just giving a fact because you mentioned weight & Bixpy. I just ordered a Bixpy for my Outback & can’t wait! Since you mentioned it though, that Milha skiff is a complete nonstarter in my opinion. Firstly, the weight capacity is a joke, it’s limited to only transit by trailer, and there’s no option for human powered motion at all, it requires some sort of propulsion. It’s really just a big plastic Jon boat.
@@TheFishingMommy you can push pole. I mentioned outback and bixpy when I said COST and weight. The capacity is much higher than what's stamped on it due to USCG regulations. Most large kayaks like the outback get trailered too.
You might look into this Lite Skiff that just unveiled… has quite the deck and might opt for the reputable combustible outboard tiller handler motor. Been watching you for years thought this lite skiff would fit your style and fish more comfortably.
If you have your papers with the serial number that’s all you need. Otherwise they want a picture if your serial number. You have to title the kayak ($50) and $30 for two year registration.
hey have the motor, it ok a bit underpowered compared to other motors, and customer service for the bixpy company is TERRIBLE!!!!!! just wanted to throw that out there for anyone thinking about buying this expensive motor.

I like that you have both pdl and power!
Very helpful on long hot days. Especially if you go deep into Surfside/Freeport marsh system 4 miles in each direction.

Yes on the battery runtime video. Good video!
Nice Ty for the review builds my confidence for my own purchase
Yes I am considering a K-1 so any info regarding battery life would help. Thanks for the info.
Yes we want to know about the battery life let's do it brother

Once you go motorized, theres no goin back

I love the Bixpy set it to 1 or 2 and you can pedal all day with low effort and go 4 mph. No worries about running of battery power this way.
Perfect speed for trolling along the surface

That’s awesome! Just ordered one for my ORU

Great motor and battery
Any idea how long the battery life is?
As I get older, motorized is becoming a must. By the time you have the weight and cost of a Bixpy and outback id be considering something like the milha lite skiff or something like trailerchasers setup that will get you further faster.
The Bixpy plus the standard battery weighs

Exactly. The rotonolded milha lite skiff looks awesome.
Polycraft 300 too
Thought you were selling that kayak Nick??
You got a New code for September for Digitaka ?
Ty for the video Nick
I found it hard to control at high speeds
Yes please used it all day if you can to see what the battery life is
Will it go faster if you remove the padels
Not a huge difference however if you pedal with motor you gain a good bit of speed
duration and battery life video would be great
Speed is dependent on physics of your vessel. HOBIE OUTBACK not gonna go much more than 5 mph. It's a factor called hull speed.
Why didn't u go max speed ... labor+electric
I'll get one when I get the kayak..still ahopping!!...b
Was it hard to register the kayak now that you have motorized? What did you need?
If you have your papers with the serial number that’s all you need. Otherwise they want a picture if your serial number. You have to title the kayak ($50) and $30 for two year registration.
You're going to be very happy with the addition of the Bixpy. It will take a lot of work off you legs during the day.
Excellent!
Yes battery time please!
Battery life test 👍… why not just go with the old town???
Thanks for the review, Nick! I'm going to buy one for my revo.
Nice! Make sure you hit that direct link in description box, so Bixpy knows you came from my channel.
awesome
Don't forget now your motorized you need to be registered with Texas
Damn I wanna find a fast motor shame nobody makes anything
