I think if you are a person who hasnt accomplished much in life arent particularly good at anyone thing the older you get you ask yourself what's your purpose an so I think many people begin to think having a child will give them a purpose. I personally would rather find purpose in other things, because I see the People with children an I know for a fact I can find purpose in alot of things other then that

And sad to say a lot of them didn’t really accomplish much in life prior to that. Ofc there are a lot of parents who did accomplish many things before they had kids but like you said, many ppl who had nothing going for themselves seem to have kids so that they do have smthn going for themselves
