I don’t know why but I remember a gold lantern comic about the joy theme and him going insane and being the bad guy, he was a white human and the guardians looked like they were made of gold. I picked it up at a comic shop and really enjoyed the read. Must have shifted realities again
This reminds me of one of the stories in Grant Morrison's JLA where the villain known as The Key finds out that superheroes always win because reality in the DC Universe always bends towards "good" and "Justice". Maybe the Gold Lantern is tapping into that same energy
I think I’d be really cool if they went with “purpose” powering the gold lantern because it’s something that drives all the other corps indirectly. You could also tie it back to the “light of eternal justice” thing by saying “justice is the highest purpose of all”.
4:44 If you happen to follow Elden Ring Lore, your statment reminds me of a video by Hawkshaw about Color Theory in Elden Ring. While a lot of it obviously doesn't match with DC, I highly recommend giving the vid a watch, even if you just watch the segment on Gold at the end, but the whole vid would give it better context of course. Gold seems to play a similar narrative role within these stories and may give some insight on what may come next for the Gold Corps.
Just wanna say, there’s a dude in the comments of the wiki page you reference replying to everyone with a link to this video. 😂 It’s how I found this video, lol

Now we have Gold, Ultraviolet, a Phantom Ring, some kind of light blue sadness corps...things were so much "simpler" with only 9 colors of power rings.
I always had doubts about the golden lanterns being chosen by experiencing happiness their whole lives, since It should not be possible. The world is so messed up that there is NOT a single person out there who lived like that. Even the wealthiest people are not happy all the time, since they eventually realize that they are not content with their stupid money. I like the idea of them being powered by justice a lot more.
I like your theory because a gold lantern would naturally struggle with the concept of mercy (justice means getting what you deserve while mercy means not getting what you deserve) and that would make for some good stories.
I’m pretty sure the wiki you read was a fanon one, very common in fandom. It’s just someone’s OC Lantern Corp that happened to become “real” aka it shares a name with a new real one. So when people (or in the case of the videos you showed, AI) go looking for information on the real Corps they find the OC one instead. It was just some fans having fun, making stuff up for themselves. Then people started looking at is at if it was real.
The Golden Lantern is such an interesting idea and has such an interesting look. I love the new stuff DC is putting into the Legion of Superheroes and hope they keep doing it ❤
Justice seems like a reasonable evolution of will and a combination of all of the lantern colors; it also follows the trend of the "Golden" super heroes being their definitive or most powerful versions, Golden Wonder Woman or Golden Superman Prime One Million. Just recently, we had the Gray Sorrow Lantern introduced, and Ultraviolet previously with Shame. I do think the idea of a Sorrow lantern opens up the door for a happiness lantern, maybe rainbow or something.
I think it might be one of those wikis that people can post the histories of their fanfics... but they named it horribly as clickbait. I'm not sure about that specific one, but I've definitely come across many that fit that bill.
Makes you wonder, since you mention Wonder Woman Clad in gold during Dark Metal, if Superman 1 Million has the same powersorce as well. Given his visage was also covered in gold.
I feel like this whole comic was a missed opportunity. how do you make a comic of JL vs Legion that boring and call it the Gold Lantern Saga. the best parts were about Kala Lour but the majority of the comic was the teams just waiting around. Gold Lantern deserves better.

I heard something about their rings being powered by APATHY, but I haven't seen any stories referencing them. Now, with the Sorrow lantern being introduced, it's obvious that there's something "amiss," to say the least. I like the idea of apathy being a power to harness, but something tells me they were created by the same kind of guys that put together that golden lantern wiki garbage. Well I’d say that seeing as how the creators aren’t developing this character any further which i would love to see but you know we wont… thats why i dont have a problem with fans making up the rest as they go, clearly DC doesn’t care.
I'm curious what other results you could get by combining lantern colors. Like what would a Cyan/Teal Lantern combining will and hope use, or a Magenta Lantern combining rage and either compassion or love?
In the original Greek myths Justice was not blind by the way. In the 16th or 17th century artists began depicting Justice as blind to government commentary on corrupt judiciaries. Even in modern times there are depictions of Justice as not blind (Justice overlooking the sepulcher of Archduke Ferdinand in Gratz, Austria for example) Anyway… The only blind Gods were the Gods of wealth. This in my opinion is weirdest Lantern core because logically if its purely based on positive emotions in general, happyiness , justice, hope , doesn't matter to me what powers it.
