Owned a 2006 Vic Interceptor until 240,000, got totaled. They don't rust out at all outside of the rust belt, heater controls never fail, blend doors never failed for me, zero suspension issues other than a blown strut (pothole in Mich) & sway bar links & bushings. Also, the plugs rarely blow out on these cars, It's usually trucks & mudstains that have that problem because of their more cab-forward design limiting air flow to the rear cylinder so it runs hotter than the rest. Almost any blowout on these cars is from over-tightening. Great cars, basic as hell by todays standards and shitty mileage but it will run for 500k and is cheap to fix if you take care of them.
Put the 18 yr old run it out of oil I mean empty 3x & 6 yrs later poor car can make it 50 mile trip to local town engine light on off on off ....I'm gonna put new motor in it 180,000 They run 300,000 easy, keep your 18 yr old away from them😂
I remember when you could find crown vics for 500 dollars nowadays people want two to four times that price for these damn things but at least you can still find them cheaper than what people want for their caprices and impalas.
Yeah I have 06 grand marquis, had blow resistor and blow motor issue. Also, alternator issue but all those issues were minor and so easy to fix. I love this car
My fathers co worker was a taxi driver because my dad worked there for a little while and they used old crown vics, and the co worker was driving the taxi when a pickup truck rear ended his crown vic and he smashed into a toyota in front of him, the PICKUP TRUCK and the toyota had to be towed away and the crown vic was able to drive back to the job, my dad ended up buying a crown vic for himself, you’d never find a more reliable car.
A 200$ tent/carport can have your car rust free for for decades if you really care. Of course you have to spray out the underside the suspension and engine bay if you live with salted roads or in an area with high salinity in the atmosphere and preventative maintenance will keep your vic tight. All models and makes have common issues. The Vics issues are the cheapest. My 97 had 380k miles on it and drove like new even looked near new.
You can’t judge a car by rust. Every car will eventually rust unless you live somewhere like New Mexico where it is dry pretty much every day. If you live where they salt the roads anything over 10 years with 0 rust is considered a win in my book.
They were only discontinued since average people stop buying them but still had a market with every police agency still wasn't large enough to keep them in production.

Blew through brakes 10x more frequently, and motor mounts. Heater cores and trannies. All before 50k - junk! Even in bad snow storms with the roads all covered in snow, the CV sled made it to every call!
I live where no one knows what rust is. I just bought a ‘93 crown vic that has been in one lady’s garage since new. It has 28000 miles on the clock. I haven’t picked it up yet but I can’t wait.
Only issue out of my last three cars 03, 04,05 is alternator water pump and transmission on the 05 which was replaced for free since it went bad on the I bought it!
94 marquis now my idiot 18 yr old ran it empty of oil 3x in 6 years ...at 180,000 miles I am now getting to local town 25 miles with engine light on too frequently at 50 mph & slower. So I will put a new motor in it don't care if it costs ?? 3-4-5000 cheaper than..new payments of 3-4-500 a month x12 months will cover 1yr payments.. These cars are the BOMB our secrets. Don't Advertise how great they are🎉
A few of mine have more than 250k miles on them and they run perfect and don't burn any oil. If I wanted them to blow by 120k I'd take them to jiffy lube because they'll eventually forget to put new oil in which, according to their own statistics, happens every 3rd or 4th oil change...

I’ve had 4 of these cars they’re great plenty of room but sad to say will not buy another my newest most recent one 2005 mercury grand marquis GS 95,000 miles catalytic converters were first to go bad both sides.. then the ECM went out got it replaced now the overdrive in the transmission is out.. we own a junk yard I’ve grown around cars all my life I take care of my vehicles all maintenance records I’ll never buy another one.
I own a 02 grand marquis and it is the best car i ever had i did have to replace intake yes but thats all the trouble that thing gave me i mean who doesn’t want one of these!
My 1999 Mustang GT 4.6 NA pushing 300hp has needed absolutely nothing in 25 years to date and 84k miles? I live in the rust belt but since it's a summer only convertible GT that's always covered rust is also not an issue. I believe the Crown Vic is identical minus being a 4 door but as you can pick up a clean example for 10k I would buy another one if I had room too!

If it's an earlier one with automatic climate control and it's stuck on defrost, it's time to replace the o rings inside the unit. My 03 Crown Vic had that issue with only 70k miles but it was almost 20 years old.
The dog legs are completely gone on my 95 Town Car that I've daily driven every winter since 19. At least I'll never have to replace the intake manifold on it.
What's with the paint on some of them? My 2003 Aspen Green Metallic Grand Marquis has the finest factory paint job of all my Panthers and withstood being parked outside in the Florida sun for the first 16 years of it's life with only minor clear coat damage on the roof but the rest of the paint is still super shiny. My light silver 2003 Crown Vic only has 70k miles but was obviously repainted and the paint on the hood still came off but the primer sure is on there good. It had those cheesy fender flares on it and when I removed them there was a ridge around them from where the paint and clear coat had stopped since they weren't taken off. Going to wrap it in vinyl Blue's Brothers style.
Brother explained to me, being that he is a police officer that old police interceptors are often subject to hard use, and in colder environments they're never shut off except to refuel. It's buyer beware if you buy an old crown vic interceptor. Civilian Vic's, Grand Marquis' & Town cars don't have that problem.
I had the spark plug hole issue on my 06 P71, the threads blew out because they didn't put enough on it from factory. Oversized the hole with a tap, used an insert sleeve with internal m18 threads for the plug, and outside was like ~20mm? To fit my newly tapped threads. Red loctite on the outside, antiseize inside. Lasted over 30k miles until I sold the car and cost like $50 to fix. My worst panther problem and I've put over 500k+ miles total on over 11 different cars, Town Car 5.0, Grand Marquis, and various P71s.
I am 20 years old and I have an 06 MGM AKA Mercury grand marquis and I have gone through three catalytic converters and I still don’t regret my purchase. And so far my car has 80k miles on it. I am also not to afraid to drive it either. Also have you heard of panther magazine it is a great channel about panthers.

These cars are still so durable compared to most because they're built like the battle wagons of the 70s and 80s.....massive with big gas loving underpowered V8s and can take nuclear bomb and crank up and drive away.
That model of crown Vic/grand Marquis doesn't have a vent door actuator, it's vacuum operated with solenoids in the climate control unit. Solenoids are about $5 a piece, if all 4 click with power supply then check for vacuum leaks. The worst part about crown vics/grand Marquis are the triton heads 🤢. The early 90's models with the modular V8 aren't so bad. later models (after 2008) that fixed the triton spark plug issues were better too.
Blower motor resistor, door lock actuator and hood struts hit too close to home. Had it 3 years, and have done headlight bulbs(day 1), a starter and oil changes. Thats it.
Lucky to live in a state that doesn't salt the roads so rust isn't a huge issue here. Blend door actuator was fun. Rebuilt the suspension and ac system at 180,000. Always carry a spare coil pack. Still don't know the code to my keyless entry.
Ive owned a couple crown vics and most of the other rwd boats available and experienced a lot of issues but i did also with my gm stuff mine ejected a plug ive had to do timing chains the transmission in these is weak and the intake manifold gasket will go bad lol
My Crown Victoria is a P71 and has, as of yet, none of those problems. However, the paint is another story, none on the trunk, major areas on the rest of the body is gone as well. But it is a desert car all it's life. Rustoleum and a roller here we come!

I'll take a 2013+ Explorer/Taurus over a Crown Vic. You get the all wheel drive option for winter climates. 20 years ago, I used to buy Crown Vics by the truckload. I know them inside and out, and would not own another one.

The cardinal rule is not to purchase a rust bucket to begin with. There is lots of 6 or 7 thousand dollar Panther cares from Florida with low mileage.

I've got some front fender rust on my 2011 CVPI. But damn. That cars a tank.

Im going to have new engine and rear axle installed in my 99 P71. No rust issues on mine but i do wish it had the ifs front end.

And remember to fluid film the bottom of your car every year and wash it off when summer comes.

That’s all normal wear . I own many crownvics interceptors and they have been great cars

Literally problems that can happen to any car. It's about how long repair intervals are and how easy it is to work on.

I love the vics!! I learned how to drive in my mom's. Man that thing was so awesome. Especially that smooth gas acceleration.
Absolutely not the best car, they are ok for that niche of owners,,, the Camry doesn't have any of those problems with way way better gas mileage
