For some reason, you feel both sadness and nostalgia whenever you come here. But you don’t know why. Maybe this place had a special place in your heart, in a past life?
Although I've never played any zelda games before, this actually made me teary eyed I know this franchise holds a special place in a lot of people hearts, and I know a lot of people grew up with these games So seeing something everyone loved as old, decrepit, and ruined, is quite depressing I feel like everyone felt older as their nostalgia and childhood memories resurfaced
Even though the comments are filled with nostalgia of tears, i cannot help but feel at peace. Filled with joy, not sadness; growing up to come full circle - it feels good.
"The flow of time is always cruel... its speed seems different for each person, but no one can change it... A thing that does not change with time is a memory of younger days" Damn you Sheik! I'm crying.
I swear I wasn't sad until I heard the music playing.... omg 😣😞 It got me emotional after that I'm legit holding back tears. Some people may think it's childish to get emotional over this video, but it's because we grew up playing Ocarina of Time & now this is how it looks like after years. It's in ruins. Of corse it's 100 years later or 10,000 years later but it kinda makes you think about how much time has passed. Ocarina of Time really impacted us as 90's kids & that's why so many of us are emotional from this video. Yes OOT can be overrated to others but it did impact a lot of us, especially games from back then. I think it's still my favorite Zelda game along with Majora's Mask. Me personally, I do not think it's overrated because the game just had something special that brought back smiles & memories I had when I was a child. Not giving a shit about my responsibilities & playing games all day. Hearing the song of the opening title screen as Link rides Epona, it really meant a lot to me as I'm an adult thinking about how much the game brought joy to me & how lucky I was to play it. The music, the sound effects, the voices, nothing can replace the feeling the game brought us. That's why OOT has a special place in my heart. & That's why this video does make me emotional. You truly will never play OOT the first time ever again, even if you play it the second or thrid time... the magical feeling the game gave was special. I always wished they had made a sequel after MM, because I really loved the Hero of Time.
OoT truely was a legendary game, I doubt many would say it's childish to be so emotionally attached to those memories. 1998 was honestly one of the biggest years in gaming with releases of OoT, Metal Gear Solid, Star Craft brood war, Half Life 1, Resident Evil 2 ect ect. I played through OoT and Majora's mask before BOTW came out and It brought back a lot of memories of my childhood. Majora's mask is my favorite Zelda game, I can say that with conifidence even though I probably beat OoT 20-30 times. Majora's mask has such a unique atmosphere and OST, there's no game that sounds or feels like it, and it also had some of the best side quests in all of gaming. I think one could argue that the couple's side quest in Majoras Mask might be THE best side quest ever, there's so much to it and it took me forever to figure it out when I was little, tons of optional cut scenes like if you steal the goron's room key at stock pot inn, you can peek through the crack in the wall and listen to Anju and her Mom talking. Also you can wait and peek at the black market vendor in Kafei's hideout. There's tons of neat secrets in those quest chains
micman963 YES. I was scrolling through some of the comments saying how OOT is overrated & not a good game. Of corse if you compare the game to the most recent games, it's not as good. BUT for it's age, OCARINA OF TIME IS AMAZING. I totally agree with you, & this video totally broke my heart! Cause we loved these games & seeing it in ruins totally makes me sad! The side quests in MM is so meaningful. It's the first game that makes you feel so happy doing the side quests & yes the anju & Kafei quest was very emotional. I cannot agree any more with you. 😞 It totally pains me I wish they made a game about the hero of time cause his games were so legendary...... 😿
Yes OoT for it's time was legendary. It's world map inspired many games such as elderscrolls to make something even bigger, and the lock on system is used in many games even today, like Dark Souls or varias action games. also the ocarina itself which had fast travel to teleport from place to place was essentially fast travel which you see in many games now, hell you were basically hacking the game by using the ocarina when you speed of the day using the song of suns or w/e. Majora's Mask is so tense, gloomy, and even dark/depressing, yet it's so interesting to watch the world end over and over because you have to keep replaying the song. Like in the couple's quest when they get reunited they are actually waiting there to die when the moon falls in just a few minutes later. One of my other favorite side quests was when the aliens are abucting the cows. It's very creepy to see the way Malon and her Sister act when you don't help them save the cows, but then also see the difference when you save them and get to do that milk-run chase sequence on the wagon. Then after that sequence you go to farm again on the final day and find Malon's older sister giving her the special milk that is implied to have alcohol since the world is ending and she wants to get her little sister drunk before everyone dies. If you don't give kafei's pendant to Anju she will take refuge in the farm as well, but if you give it to her then she'l wait for kafei in stock pot until the world ends. Man I just love that game, such interesting quest chains :D
micman963 you took the words right out of my mouth. I get so sad when I was watching the comparisons of the BOTW Link & the hero of time here cause it makes me feel so sad!!!!!!!!!!!! Ugh the feels. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 I AGREE THO. Esp with the Majora's mask comment you wrote. Cause after saving Romani's Ranch from the Aliens, the feeling of relief just comes to you. 😭😿 My eyes though......... 😓😿 I WILL PLAY OOT AND MM ONE MORE TIME

this is like going back to a place where you were very happy and seeing everything different with strange people living there. beats a fucked up melancholy
I always go to Ranch Ruins to take in my surroundings and I started to tear up the first time exploring the remains of Lon Lon Ranch while using Epona and Link wearing the Ocarina of Time costume.... My heart broke into a million pieces! 😭💚
I know this is supposed to be somber, but when I got here I cried cause I was happy to be home once more. Lon Lon Ranch is my home, and I will always go back there.
image the sadness and despair of malon when seeing the ranch in flames and chaos and not being able to see link, you see that part of the ocarina of time you tear so much nostalgia:(
Some houses, a fence, an archway, and a tower in the back. Yep. That's the ranch I know. All reduced to ruins… Maybe someday, we'll see it restored to its former glory.
To make it worse, this was most likely links home(Considering the fact that he seems to have been adopted into malons family in the botw timeline)so for us this is us nostalgic of our childhoods but to link these are the ruins of what’s left of his home(and to make it worse it’s pretty much certain that after the long timeframe in which link slept his family died)
@@Repudiate okay but its bad It ruins story set by ocarina and minish cap It plays like poo even before Motion controls Less memorable characters than adventure of link Three stikes youre out

This game is the best zelda game ive played but oot just still has that childhood feel and seeing this place in ruins made me sad and i felt so much nostalgia
I will NEVER forget the moment we found the familiar shape of the ranch on the map in BotW. We stopped doing whatever we were doing in that moment and just rushed to Lon Lon Ranch.
Fun fact, this was legit the first time I've ever seen my brother tear up. I showed him this, I teared up. As for me, different reaction. While the ocarina zelda wasn't my favorite game, I did have a rush of nostalgia, given how Lon Lon Ranch was my favorite part of the ocarina game. Had Me Like Edge when he just saw that crowd in the 2020 Royal Rumble. Huffing and puffing but keeping it together.
i was actually really sad to see it in RUINS. i saw ranch ruins on the map but the name didn't register in mind and i just saw "ranch" then immediatly rode over because it's my favorite place in both ocarina and majora's mask.
i can see a little boy playing this his first zelda game having fun but he looks up and sees his dad standing watching and he asks him "dad? why are you crying?"
I Ocarina of time is my favorite Legend of Zelda game. Malon is my favorite Legend of Zelda character, and my favorite area in The Legend of Zelda? You guessed it; Lon Lon Ranch. Ah, the memories. Makes me sad Malon isn't in Breath of the Wild. It saddens me that the ranch is all run down now. It's a shadow of what is once was.
I met a traveller from an antique land, Who said-“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand, Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed; And on the pedestal, these words appear: My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair! Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.”
I wonder if it wasn’t in ruins before Calamity Ganon attacked. It should be a pretty famous establishment due to their milk, maybe Malon’s descendants were living there, going about business as usual and then fled when the Gaurdians attacked and destroyed the ranch; which was left to rot in the 100 years it was abandoned before Link awoke from his coma. After all, I’d doubt there’d be any wood left after 10,000 years. The stone structures, sure. But the gate entrance would definitely have fell apart well before 100 years let alone 10,000. I’m not old enough to have grown up with Ocarina of Time or Nintendo games in general but I get this sad feeling similar to nostalgia when I think about Malon, the bright little girl who used to run around this very ranch singing songs, enjoying her life, meeting Link, the things she went through. All here. In this open field peppered with rotting wood overrun with overgrown vines and weeds with the remnants of stone buildings standing almost as stalwart as they did 10,000 years ago despite the shape they’re in. I get teary eyed just thinking about it. I like to think she settled down with Link and lived a full, happy life together. It’s what they both deserved. Looking back on happy memories can be sad, and it can be even sadder knowing those memories will all be forgotten one day, almost as if they never happened, but they did happen. Those moments existed at a point in time and space and while maybe no one will remember someday, so what? Your time is and has always been now. Time waits for no one yet it marches on for us all. That is the valuable gift that the universe, God- if you’re religious, has allowed us in the conception of our beings. Time. If nothing else, you can’t say that the universe itself didn’t give you the time of day, hehe.
I know growing up doesnt make sense to much....and i was one who didnt realise just how much time keeps moving forwards and im sad for it.....i grew up playing wind waker, majoras mask and ocarina of time. I literally gave up my later years in life during HS to pursue what i thought i wanted but wasnt nearly any bit close to what i wanted and what i knew id be happy with... the point im trying to say is that choose and chase wisely of what you would truly be happy about later in your years....
I wish that instead of Tarrey Town, or even in addition to, we had a quest in which we could rebuild Lon Lon Ranch in the game. That would’ve been amazing.
Only thing that crosses my mind when reminiscing is how sad it is to think once we pass we will never play our favorite games again, listen to our favorite music or anything like that time is a crazy thing! So play your favorite games and listen to your favorite music while we all can 🥺 i been playing alot of OOT and majoras mask lately just 😩
This is how reality works, ever been back to the neighborhood you grew up as a kid? I did for school and damn did I feel the nostalgia, how things have changed. I used to be a kid playing outdoors. All I saw now was old buildings, no kids outside, maybe one or two on their smart phones 😅
Wake up 100 years later and seeing everything in ruins, remembering your friends only to find out they are now dead. The king's soul lingers in hyrule, realising his fault to Zelda but too late to salvage it. Heavy stuff. And the best part, it's not heavy handed.

Man, this would've been amazing in the actual game. As the player walks through the Ranch Ruins, this remix starts playing as Link starts having flashbacks to the old days when the ranch was whole. As the player explores the ranch, the game alternates between two worlds: the past and the present. Eventually, the music ends, and you remain in the present. However, as Link encounters the Epona of the past, a transition to the future reveals that Epona is still there. And that's how you get Epona in Breath of the Wild. :)

micman963 in Majora, rewinding time made me feel so sad. I love these games so much. 😞😞😞😞😞
😓😿 I WILL PLAY OOT AND MM ONE MORE TIME
I got depressed for the rest of the day when I found this first time.
donaldthescottishtwin (DTST) On my way to that, haha
Same
I was super sad when I found this place :(
felt like playing music. "This Perfect World" by Freddie Johnston from Kingpin. Like Munson when he goes back to his place he grew up to. Queen's song Forever also fitting to this too!
Oh man didn't get a permission slip for that feels trip. 😭
this is like going back to a place where you were very happy and seeing everything different with strange people living there. beats a fucked up melancholy
Jesus Christ, I don't even have nostalgic memories or experience with Ocarina Of Time but this still got a tear out of me...
That just remember us that Malon and Epona of OOt are DEAD.... I didn't think that ruins could make me sad ;-;
Well, in Breath of the Wild they've been dead for thousands upon thousands of years
@@Optyzma Dude, they literally said 'Epona of Oot' -_-
Right in the feels, man. I almost cried seeing this old place again.
This is some Fallout NV Nipton level shit.
Seeing Lon Lon Ranch all destroyed like this made me genuinely so sad
0:27 STOP RIGHT THERE. DO YOU SEE THAT!? ARE YOU TELLING ME THIS WHOLE TIME NOBODY NEEDED ANY EPONA AMIBO BECAUSE SHE'S AT LON LON RANCH!?
(Sorry but) no, this horse really needs his amibo. He just came at lon lon riding epina
It'd be cool if you could get epona near lon lon ranch.
chewy matsu that'd be sad :(
chewy matsu like she's sleeping in the middle of the field and immediately runs up to you when she sees you
yeah exactly romy, but then epona fades away ;c
I think you mean Malon? Right. You can get Epona there.
No jim you cant it's only an amiibo.
This is so sad :'(
SheikLee XD Por qué? Porque no le puedes ver los pies a Link?:v
@@sekaiz4091 wtf keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
All reduced to ruins…
Maybe someday, we'll see it restored to its former glory.
Makes me laugh to think some people thought this would take place right after Skyward Sword.
I love the fact that you're like the only one not being emotional in the comments lol
First rule of Zelda Club is we do not talk about Skyward Sword
Second rule of Zelda Club is we do not talk about Skyward Sword
@@misterturkturkle I like Skyward Sword
@@Repudiate okay but its bad

@@misterturkturkle I guess it's because Zelda was never meant to be a coherent series, it's more of an episodic series. And the controls were fine! If you're not left handed! lol
Can't decide whether to be happy or depressed...
Wish I could have created a scene of Link and Zelda reaching Deku Tree. We meet a girl (Salon or whatever name you want). She could be 19 to 20 years old and she is a descendant of Malon's. We can dream can't we? :) :) :) :)
Sadness. It's like real life. Things and people change to barely recognizable sometimes.
One last leap. For the old times.
...
Man. What a beautiful memory
This game is the best zelda game ive played but oot just still has that childhood feel and seeing this place in ruins made me sad and i felt so much nostalgia
It feels so unfathomabley sad that Malon, Talon and even Ingo all died long before the calamity...
I will NEVER forget the moment we found the familiar shape of the ranch on the map in BotW. We stopped doing whatever we were doing in that moment and just rushed to Lon Lon Ranch.
This is A Sad Example Of The reality of Today and A Message That nothing Last Forever!
Malon and the lon lon ranch may be long gone by this point but considering Kass plays her song implies that her legacy lived on ever since
why did my eyes get all wet?
I use to sweat through the eyes too... dont worry bud :v
Seeing how the area has been brought to ruins makes me sad and happy with how Nintendo decided to let gamers know that theyve never forgotten
i can see a little boy playing this his first zelda game having fun but he looks up and sees his dad standing watching and he asks him "dad? why are you crying?"
Malon wouldn't've lasted 100 years.
The Frickin' Scout She's a Great Fairy now
This just makes me feel sad :'(
probably with the horse running with Link, Chariots of Fire is a song to fit this video.
This is probably my favorite video in the whole RUclips
Nothing last forever. Time, life goes on with or without you. But sometimes the legacy we leave behind are not the ones we intended.😢
Such an untimely and tragic end for poor malon and her ranch :,(
I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said-“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”
Well considering that the Hero of Time most likely married Malon, it is possible that they're descendants took care of the Ranch all those years.
Eu sempre venho aqui antes de dormir para ouvir essa bela melodia
Então...
I was so horrified and sad when i played botw and discovered Lon lon ranch.
R.I.P Lon lon ranch 1998-2017 😭😭😭
I wish that instead of Tarrey Town, or even in addition to, we had a quest in which we could rebuild Lon Lon Ranch in the game. That would’ve been amazing.
I agree
Missed opportunity in TOTK
Only thing that crosses my mind when reminiscing is how sad it is to think once we pass we will never play our favorite games again, listen to our favorite music or anything like that time is a crazy thing! So play your favorite games and listen to your favorite music while we all can 🥺 i been playing alot of OOT and majoras mask lately just 😩
The world design in BOTW blows me away.
I'm not even old enough for this to give me feels, BUT IT STILL DOES!
Harmonics, baby.
I have never been so sad about something in my entire life.
When the images started changing at the music's rhythm, that's when the feels hit me hard.
I teared up. Ocarina of Time was what got me really into Zelda
This is how reality works, ever been back to the neighborhood you grew up as a kid? I did for school and damn did I feel the nostalgia, how things have changed. I used to be a kid playing outdoors. All I saw now was old buildings, no kids outside, maybe one or two on their smart phones 😅
I remember discovering lon lon ranch in ocarina of time playing as a 6 year old. now at 23 and seeing this really hits me right in the feels!
The whole game has a sombre tone to it, but this is just sad...
Sombre?
Wake up 100 years later and seeing everything in ruins, remembering your friends only to find out they are now dead. The king's soul lingers in hyrule, realising his fault to Zelda but too late to salvage it. Heavy stuff. And the best part, it's not heavy handed.
*Gentle reminder that Malon and Talon died thousands of years before the Great Calamity.*
Although it serves as a great comparison video, the fantastic editing combined with the beautiful rendition of Epona’s theme makes this one of the most emotional videos out there
Bro, acabo de imaginarme toda una secuencia animada que compara la perspectiva del Link de BOTW con la del Link de OOT, y era hermoso😢
*Link would find himself approaching an abandoned ranch for some reason it looked familiar to him as he would walk to get a closer look his eyes would widen at the archway this was Lon Lon Ranch at first he was in denial that this was the same ranch he remembered when he went on his journey as the hero of time but what sealed the deal for him was a lone horse in the stable the coat the mane those eyes there was no mistaking it he was gazing upon his old friend Epona the one horse throughout the entire ranch he had befriended was all that remained of the ranch the horse would look at him approaching the stable and she would move towards him as well the 2 stood in silence until Link gently stroked her mane finally he couldn't take it anymore he hugged his beloved horse and let the tears flow as a subtle breeze would pick up* "You came back..." *a voice called out in the wind causing link to turn around that's when he saw her Malon the daughter of Talon although she wasn't part of the physical realm she lingered on as a spirit keeping the appearance she had as a young woman Link was Awestruck and grief stricken at the same time as there was a point in time where he might've loved her* "I knew you'd come back someday...Fairy Boy" *Link went to hug Malon only to pass right through her as the woman simply disappeared in a breeze Link would wipe away his tears finding closure that his friend was alright with a newfound determination Link would mount Epona and ride off to save Hyrule just as he did as the Hero Of Time*
That would be perfect of they adapted this story into a book or a movie or series

Instead they put her in a fucking loot box. 💢
I want to tear off the eggs to Ganon after this video
3 years later i still feel verry emotional and sad :( . so much memory
