I cannot stop laughing because i just imagined that revali smugly looked back down at link to see his reaction after he flew away, only to look on in terror as link is rapidly running his way through the literal air up to revali with a completely straight face
nah, he flies up there, looks down all smug but doesn't see Link, turns around, scared, and there he is, hair blowing in the wind "wEll ExCuUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUsE me, Princess"
Revali, in whatever the afterlife is like in Zelda: I sense a disturbance in the force Link, flying high in the skies of hyrule in his custom made zonai fighter plane:
and the reason why Revali is able to get up their on his own is because he can fly and hover barely above the ground allowing him to be up their on his own
I recently learned he's even more of a clocahole in the Japanese version. When the Divine Beasts attack Ganon he says to Link "I'm not doing this for you, but for my own revenge." Also Yasuaki Iwata, the composer for the champions' themes, disliked Revali so much he had a hard time making a theme for him and he tried to write one that would make him slightly more tolerable.
@@Chubby_Bub i completely believe that. if i hated a character i’d write them a beautiful theme out of sheer spite, like “fuck you, you’re gonna be at least tolerable”
Ravali is having some edge lord alone time up on his divine beast, suddenly in the distance there is a sound. "Is that thunder?" He wonders as a distant rumbling reaches his ears. No the sun is bright with nary a cloud in the sky. He begins to look around as the sound continues and seems to be getting closer. He is left dumbfounded as a chaining fiery explosion crests the side of Vah Medoh. Just as suddenly as it began the explosions cut off and with a sick wet slap a bloody and blackened body lands on the divine beast. Ravali is taken back as a fairy pops out of the corpse, Link stands up drawing his sword ready for their 1v1.
Imagine being him, looking down with satisfaction from Vah Medoh knowing that there's no way the pitiful flightless ape will ever be able to reach... wait, are those explosions in the distance?
I'm imagining Link trying to explain each of his methods to Revali, and when he gets to the moon jump he's just like "don't ask me, I jumped on a horse, jumped on another and then I started flying"
"and then things got... _weird._ i jumped into the air, and i fell back down, like you'd expect, but the air under my feet... didn't feel like air? it felt like solid ground, and if i tried to jump off of this... air-ground, it would work. i would stop falling, push off of nothing, and rise ever higher, despite the fact that _that makes no sense. that isn't-that's not how air works._ i could do this as many times as i wanted."
"Or there was the five hundred and fifty explosions method... yeah, don't think I'll be doing that one again. I've never felt such fiery pain in my life, yet there was no relief from it... not to mention, bomb arrows are expensive!"
“I also stole Zeldas Sheila slate and did some weird stuff with that… I yeeted myself with a wooden box, a metal box, flew with bombs, that sort of thing, ya know?”
Revali trying to prove he is better than link by doing something link inherently can’t do is so silly to me. Like what if link challenges Revali to a thumb wrestle…
Someone really sat down and played this game so much that they figured out you can set off 500+ bombs to propel yourself towards a giant mechanical beast because a rude chicken called you a loser
the bomb arrow method definitely sends the strongest message. Who's going to mess with the dude who just spent three hours setting grenades off with his face to get to you?
What’s worse is that revali is always using bomb arrows himself, imagine showing off that not only can you make it up to that divine beast on your own, but you can use bomb arrows better than him
@@ThatGuacamolyGuybut the apparatus made him immune to the explosion damage, so it's just a flashier version of sonic bouncing on infinite spring pads. He's fine.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity has time travel, and it creates a timeline where the heroes use knowledge from the future (BotW) to fight back against Ganon and prevent the Calamity. Time manipulation shenanigans are not only possible but actually canon, thanks to the Sheikah.
@@dreadburnz3522 It was canon even before that, too. Time travel obviously plays as a core component of Ocarina of Time and Oracle of Ages, but it's also featured in Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword.
I can picture Link bombing himself onto the beast as Revali watches in horror and Link landing in front of him, bloodied and skin charred and blood dripping from his nose, and Link going “you were saying?” before collapsing dead on the ground
Except that the apparatus fuckery made him immune to all elemental damage, including explosions, so he would just land up there completely unharmed and proceed to kick ravioli's cloaca
Revali standing on the Devine Beast right after insulting link, looking down at the village chuckling to himself, all happy in his insult, only for his eyes to grow wide. He sees link rapidly jumping in mid air, eyes locked onto Revali, a permenant scowl on his face.
I love the idea that behind that emotionless face lies a hidden rage so extreme and palpable that it allows Link to bend- nay, *break* the laws of physics to his will.
Balloons - Makes sense. Flying machine - I understand how that works. Bodily-harm 1&2 - Seems perfectly reasonable. Wind-bomb - I understand how that works. BTB - I'd love to know how many attempts it took to aim that right. Rock - uh... what... Moon-jump - Common enough that it doesn't phase me much. Horse - WTF Bomb arrows - Why? Also how, but mostly why.
Besides the times of me being silly and not jumping from high enough to get a bounce at all, the BTB only took 1 try. Moblins are quite consistent in the angle they send you; being the direction they're facing.
I like to imagine link repeatedly went back again and again to ravioli's beast with a different method each time, starting the day ravioli said he couldn't get up there.
Link: Maybe we should just settle this one-on-one. But when? Oh, I know. How about back then? Revali: ...? Link: OoOoh, you must PARDON me. I forgot you have no way of _splitting the universe and changing the course of time_ on your own Revali: ...????
but like. imagine being revali hanging out on the divine beast wondering if that comment about not being able to get to the divine beast might have been going a little too far. you haven't seen link in a couple of days, after all. did he take it too hard? you're starting to get worried. you look out to the landscape below and notice something weird on the nearby mountain. it looks like a fireball, slowly rising into the sky. you stare, entranced. you pass over it and notice that it's really loud. is that actually some kind of... extended explosion? you aren't close enough to see what's causing it. vah medoh soars away from it, much to your disappointment. you want a closer look, but trying to fly over there on your own power seems... ill-advised, so you'll have to be content with watching it from where you are. sure, vah medoh will circle back around eventually, but what are the chances that the fireball will still be there when it does? it'll probably fizzle out or fly away or something, right? halfway through its flight path, the fireball is still going strong and you start to rethink this assessment. maybe you will get a closer look at it after all. three quarters of the way through its flight path you realize the fireball might actually crash into vah medoh. you're not particularly worried - this thing was made to survive much stronger attacks than some random self-sustaining explosion or whatever it is - but you are excited to get a closer look. a few more minutes pass and you hear not only explosions but also something that sounds like... yelling? but that can't be right, for there to be yelling there'd have to be a person in there, and no person could possibly survive that long being continuously exploded and/or set on fire. well, maybe a goron could, but it doesn't sound like a goron. you watch as the strange yelling fireball rises up just high enough to pass over the leading edge of vah medoh. you try to look at it and see something in there. it looks like a person. it sounds like a person. it explodes one final time and then stops exploding, collapsing to the ground and revealing itself to be _link._ for a moment, nobody moves. link is winded, you are astonished. he slowly pushes himself up into a sitting position. he looks up, grins triumphantly at you, and chuckles smugly. _link exploded himself several hundred times, breaking every law of physics you can think of in the process, just to prove you wrong._ you don't even get the chance to try to process this before he kicks your cloaca.
this has to be one of the comment Kleric will read in the next video ! I want to listen to that calming voice narrating this masterful little piece of fanfiction !
But just imagine the Rito in the village below Link watching him go up to the divine beast over and over again, defying their knowledge of the universe and it's gravitational laws, only to phase through the stone bird and fall.
Takes the "easy way up", Divine beast: no collision Glitches hes way up, Divine beast: no collision Blows himself up 550 times: Divine beast: He is worthy!
I like to imagine that link did all of these one after the other, continually braking the laws of ohysics and his bones to come up only to jump back down before revali can say anything, just to proove a point.
I have waited two years to watch this video, trying to avoid spoilers for the game. And now, finally, after just finishing BOTW just last night, I can truly confirm it was worth it.

Imagine being Zelda watching that goof you hired as your 5th Champion spend dozens of hours getting 550 arrows and bombing himself in anger to fight a sassy bird.
Imagine being Revali and seeing Link doing these things like the moon jump or the bomb arrows. Also 10/10 job with matching the explosions to the music and beat.
Revaldi: "Haha, can't catch me by yourself, loser!" Link: *grabs a rock* Revaldi: "wait, no-" Link: *untethers himself from the binds of physical esscence*
Link killing octoroks to balloon his way up too revali on a wooden box and kick his ass is my favorite interpretation of his character, days spent systematicly hunting monsters to near extinction just to disprove a smug bird and beat him in combat, truly the path of a dedicated hero.
I love the idea of link stealing Zeldas sheika slate, going all the qay to goron mountain, stealing two minecarts and punching the laws of physics in the jaw just to prove Revali wrong and kick his ass.
If I were Ravioli and saw Link survive 550 bomb arrows, get launched into the sky, and land on the Divine Beast that only he can reach, I would give up right there.
All of the champions are great. Mipha is a caring, loving companion Daruk is a cheerful, courageous rock eating dude Revali And Urbosa is a badass warrior who cares deeply for Zelda
I think a lot of people forget why Revali is such an ass to Link. It's not just because of his crush on Zelda. From our perspective, he has no reason to dislike us other than jealousy and selfishness. But if you look at it from his perspective, it actually makes a lot of sense. All the Champions were born with their powers... except for Revali. Revali was a talented individual among the Rito, hailed as a local hero for his work ethic and archery skills. Everyone loved him, praised him for his diligant work, and he only aspired for greater heights, it was never enough, he could always aim higher. And with that, he created something entirely new: Revali's Gale. When Link came along, suddenly Revali was no longer in the spotlight, and he wasn't used to that. Some kid from a little town in the country got a shiny sword to kill Ganon, all because he was born destined for it. That left a bitter taste in Revali's mouth, Link didn't earn his title, not like Revali did. In fact, none of the other Champions did. They all had their powers from birth. Revali invented his.
In Link's defence, though, according to Zelda's diary, Link never wanted that power to begin with. He probably didn't even want to be a knight, but was pushed into it by everyone around him because "he was a skilled swordsman at a young age, plus his dad was a knight, had to follow into his footsteps". Maybe he wanted to do something else, explore the world, use his skills to help people on the road, but we never got to know because Link merely accepted his fate and that caused him to change drastically (queue Mipha's diary where she says how Link used to be a spunky, lively kid, and on the next visit he was quiet and withdrawn, hinting that he was desperately trying to fulfil all the expectations placed on him). Only around his friends did some of the old Link shine through, as we can see in Daruk's diary where he exposes Link as a glutton, and Zelda herself gets to slowly know him as she too begins to open up to him. Revali is an ass to Link because he thought Link had everything handed to him, but he never stopped to ask himself whether or not the kid actually wanted all of that or not. And fact is he didn't, but he took it anyway because he didn't want to disappoint anyone, didn't want people to talk and whisper behind his back, even though that's exactly what they did (again, queue Zelda's diary). On closer inspection, Revali and Link are two sides of the same coin; Revali wanted it, but had to work for it. Link didn't want it, but got it anyway. Ironically, if they had different personalities, i.e. Revali wasn't so arrogant and Link such a quiet tooth, they may have been really good friends. BotW is very intricate with its characters and that's why it's one of my favourite games ever.
@@Raiigen Yeah yeah yeah!! All your analysis is also true; I never said it wasn't haha. I actually write Link like this in my fics/rp, so I agree with everything you're saying. I love the lore you can find when you dig, nice to find another like me. Great insight, I love when discussions like this open up!! :D
@@Raiigen I agree w u but, tbf to Revali, he acts petty and childish because well... He IS a child. At most he's a teen, like Zelda, who was also petty and rude to Link, until she grew out of it. In Rito village, all of the little children have pink blushy circles on their cheeks. None of the adults do, not even the one Rito from the town who is potentially a teen/ young adult (acts v stereotypical teen by talking ab how he needs to get away from his mom and build his own life)(the one who joins Tarrey Town lol). BUT, Revali has the little cheek blushies!! He's a kid! He's obviously bigger than the kids from Rito village, but he's also a lot smaller than most Rito, which further lends itself to him being young. Revali was the youngest champion to die, poor thing (Mipha was young by Zora standards, but not actually young). Does that excuse his behavior? No, he was definitely a jerk. Is it understandable? I'd say so.
The fact that no collisions can occur with non-dev-intended approaches to Divine Beasts is likely one Nintendo made an absolute must in an attempt to stop anyone from engaging in shenanigans. And it's pretty hard to take, because shenanigans are our specialty. Our next goal is to figure out how to glitch the initiation of the divine beast quest. Then we should be able to use any of the methods to be able to land on the divine beast.
I love how to an outside observer, some of these are just Link glaring at the distant Divine Beast, probably going cross-eyed for a moment as he splits timelines, and just randomly shoots off into the heavens without warning. I don't know what would terrify Revali more, seeing Link speed past at mach 3 or explode his way upwards out of pure stubbornness.
The whole premise of this video is already wild but the DRAMA and the FLARE and the SPITE… and the time lapses of Link going upwards by ridiculous means… it’s perfect and I love this video
I like to just imagine Revali moving Vah Medoh in several ridiculous places in Hyrule in a desperate attempt just to prove this elf boy with supernatural climbing powers wrong on a bet
@@kigut7443 Yeah. That's why I don't know why the dude called him an elf. Lmao, hylians also share our short life span as far I know. They are not like elves at all.
I think I would feel actual fear as revali if I saw link blowing himself up loudly for over an hour until he lands onto the divine beast ready to fight.
Daruk: can deflect lethal blows with an invincibility shield Urbosa: can control the weather and can harness the electricity of storms Mipha: healing powers that can bring you back to life Ravioli: birb flies wooooosh
the worst thing about the phrase "kicking his cloaca" is that in addition to excreting bodily wastes, the cloaca also acts as the bird's sex organ, so link's essentially kicking revali in the butt _and_ nuts at the same time 😭😭😭
@@fullmoonshadow6967 you're wrong, OP is right. Some birds don't have cloacas, so they do have separate orifices. But since a cloaca is a one-stop shop, any bird that has a cloaca wouldn't need another hole
The presentation on this video is genuinely incredible. The delivery of each joke, the pacing, the musical choice, the knowledge of the game's glitches and mechanics clearly put into it. 11/11, subscribed on the spot.
Revali: "You have no way of making it on top of that divine beast on your own" Link: *proceeds to phase thru the ceiling of the divine beast from the surface hundreds of feet below with the help of magic green hand*
I'm surprised it doesn't activate a barrier and bounce you back. That's what happens if you try to land on Ruta. I once managed to land on the back balcony of Naboris. The doorway leading inside is blacked out so you can't go in. Its stomping leaves you constantly bouncing.
The thought of Link detonating 550 bombs under him one by one to slowly inch up to Vah Medoh, while staring Revali straight in the eyes is one of the most glorious things I've is one of the one most glorious things I've ever imagined.
Vah Medoh went through two flight cycles before Link reached it, implying that Revali would have seen a trail of constant explosions in the airspace below as it looped around the first time, and seen it approach his level as the beast looped back around the second time, eyes widening in disbelief as he realizes that it was _Link_ the entire fucking time.
So basically link breaks every known law of the universe through time travel, sheikah magic, and/or some horses, likely suffering grievous wounds in the process.... then fucks a bird. A worthy reward.
what Ravali *meant* by "you have no way of making it up to that Divine Beast on your own!" was that it would be physically impossible for Link to make it onto Vah Medoh due to the fact that it doesn't exist
Interesting theory. This may imply that when Revali "flies up to his Divine Beast", he in fact flew to a nearby mountain instead to cry. Interesting...
Revali gets jumpscared on Vah Meadoh when he sees the pillar of explosions that has been acending for 5 minutes actually be Link who just boarded his Divine Beast
Revali's arrogance likely comes from the fact that unlike the other Champions, he has had no important lineage, nor did he have a Champion ability to start off with. He instead had to work for it, training to be able to not only match the other Champions, but also come up with his own Champion Skill, Revali's Gale. Thus he quite possibily believes he is better than everyone else because he worked hard for it while everyone else was lucky enough to be chosen or be part of a bloodline. In this case, he would definitely be humbled by Link's creativity and resourcefulness in making it up to Va Medoh on his own despite being unable to fly.
That's probably the best reason I've found to explain why Revali is an asshole, but if link used any other method than the balloons, Revali might just be more concerned than humbled
I mean, if you consider the fact Link is a privilaged kid and son of the captain of the Hyrule guard, Revali is right about him at least at first. It isn't until Link awakens with all of that stripped away and still succeeds in beating Wind Blight that he earns Revali's respect, because Link did it by himself. This makes Revali the best written character in the game.
Have you played Age of Calamity, by chance? Seeing how he fights in that game, to me, made it feel like he deserved to be smug. He was an absolute badass, I’d brag about it too if the only other champions had superpowers or a magic sword and I managed to beat them in combat without any special abilities
And if he was a little more humble about it, a little less of an a-hole to Link, or equally an a-hole to everyone else, he would be a much more liked character. If it was really about birth-powers or magic versus skill and training, how come he never gives attitude to Daruk or Urbosa? Oh, yeah, because fried Rito sounds amazing. And for being a "privileged kid and son of the Captain of the Guard," Link is a demonstrated savant with any weapon he puts hands on (in either timeline): he can match a Rito with a bow, a Hylian or Gerudo with a Sword, a Goron with a Claymore, and a Zora with a Spear, on top of weapons that no one else has ever used (Flails and the Master Cycle Zero, which he somehow taught Zelda how to use). With no race bonuses, Link manages to fight Revali even on his turf. Link may not be very well-liked by the fandom, but put some respect on his canonical name, let alone what we manage to do with him.
@@travisalexander6440 The only reason the fandom don't seem to like him is because most gamers are overly sensitive little babies. A good character doesn't have to be likable, they just have understandable. Also, Age of Calamity is non-canon. The characters aren't really pulling off these stupid weeb moves so acting like the other champions are super above Revali somehow is stretching it. There's plenty of other reasons he could have no respect for Link. Chief among them being BotW Link is weak as hell. If he was talking about any other Link like LttP Link or MM Link, Revali would be talking out of his ass, but he's not. He's talking about a Link that can get one shot by most enemies early on. Compared to his predecessors he's no hero of legend, but people treats him like he is and this annoys Revali.
Based on the fact that humans need the muscles of the gluteus maximus to stand on two legs, the Rito must have butts, as unlike normal birds they stand up straight and don’t lean forwards. In conclusion, Revali *does* have a butt to kick.
the construction of this video is otherworldly... the narrative and storytelling... the botw captions... the rhythmic bomb arrow montage... the homoerotic undertones... Truly superb from all angles... Thank you, for this...
I love how in Revali's diary it's revealed that he wasnt even sure Revali's gale would work in that moment, because he had just recently perfected it, and was frustrated that Link had "no reaction" to being one of the first people to witness it
I love the progression of this video - Step 2:Use a mine cart to lift another mine cart into the air and thats it, you're good to go. Step 8:Ok so, break the time line into two and make your other self go to the other side of the map while you stay in a position on the oposite direction of the beast, then reunite the dimentions and use the shock of the universes coliding to go to the beast and kick that birds ass.

but like. imagine being revali hanging out on the divine beast wondering if that comment about not being able to get to the divine beast might have been going a little too far. you haven't seen link in a couple of days, after all. did he take it too hard? you're starting to get worried. you look out to the landscape below and notice something weird on the nearby mountain. it looks like a fireball, slowly rising into the sky. you stare, entranced. you pass over it and notice that it's really loud. is that actually some kind of... extended explosion? you aren't close enough to see what's causing it.
vah medoh soars away from it, much to your disappointment. you want a closer look, but trying to fly over there on your own power seems... ill-advised, so you'll have to be content with watching it from where you are. sure, vah medoh will circle back around eventually, but what are the chances that the fireball will still be there when it does? it'll probably fizzle out or fly away or something, right? halfway through its flight path, the fireball is still going strong and you start to rethink this assessment. maybe you will get a closer look at it after all. three quarters of the way through its flight path you realize the fireball might actually crash into vah medoh. you're not particularly worried - this thing was made to survive much stronger attacks than some random self-sustaining explosion or whatever it is - but you are excited to get a closer look.
a few more minutes pass and you hear not only explosions but also something that sounds like... yelling? but that can't be right, for there to be yelling there'd have to be a person in there, and no person could possibly survive that long being continuously exploded and/or set on fire. well, maybe a goron could, but it doesn't sound like a goron. you watch as the strange yelling fireball rises up just high enough to pass over the leading edge of vah medoh. you try to look at it and see something in there. it looks like a person. it sounds like a person. it explodes one final time and then stops exploding, collapsing to the ground and revealing itself to be _link._ for a moment, nobody moves. link is winded, you are astonished. he slowly pushes himself up into a sitting position. he looks up, grins triumphantly at you, and chuckles smugly.

@@SnoFitzroy Revali got that mothafuckin P L U M A G E.

It's kinda funny how even though you can't physically touch the divine beast, it still has text to let you know when you're close to it.
Revali's first mistake was mocking a lunatic who will blow up his problems and eat insects to spite demons about how he can't fly

And spite
what Ravali *meant* by "you have no way of making it up to that Divine Beast on your own!" was that it would be physically impossible for Link to make it onto Vah Medoh due to the fact that it doesn't exist
Interesting theory.
This may imply that when Revali "flies up to his Divine Beast", he in fact flew to a nearby mountain instead to cry.
Interesting...
@@KlericYT I can just imagine a random blob of pasta sobbing on a cliff. Serves him right
Revali gets jumpscared on Vah Meadoh when he sees the pillar of explosions that has been acending for 5 minutes actually be Link who just boarded his Divine Beast
Compared to his predecessors he's no hero of legend, but people treats him like he is and this annoys Revali.
i like the idea that Link is so angry at Revali's taunting that he just learns to jump off the air itself to get to him
okay imagine being Revali just chilling on the divine beast
and then you see Link slowly jumping upwards towards you
Based on the fact that humans need the muscles of the gluteus maximus to stand on two legs, the Rito must have butts, as unlike normal birds they stand up straight and don’t lean forwards. In conclusion, Revali *does* have a butt to kick.
I’ve always liked barn owls

Step 8:Ok so, break the time line into two and make your other self go to the other side of the map while you stay in a position on the oposite direction of the beast, then reunite the dimentions and use the shock of the universes coliding to go to the beast and kick that birds ass.
This was wonderful to read.
And then Link kicks him in the Cloaca!
Link: defies physics
Revali: retaliates by removing physical collisions
“Mom can we get ultra hand?”
“No honey we have ultra hand at home” Ultra hand at home:
What?
@@CoolGuyMan Ultrahand is a power in TotK that allows you to fuse different parts to create mechanisms that include straight-up airplanes and rockets
Now that we have that, something like the balloon box or the flying machine looks like a knockoff of one such mechanism
@@commentingchannel9776 yea ik I just thought they were talking about magnesis
@@CoolGuyMan in the first thing he does he puts stuff together which in the new Loz, totk there is something called ultra hand where you put stuff together

Imagine you're revali and you Look down, very proud of yourself, but suddenly you see link jumping off a cliff, almost jump wanna save him, but he starts blowing up over and over again
And now, with the discovery of zonai devices...
Link goes into the forbidden depths of hyrule castle, stealing Raraus arm, not caring about the consequences, hyper-focused on his hatred of Revail. Then he finds two fans and a steering stick. And the rest is history.
Vah medoh would have been so perfect for a smash map, It's position in the sky... the long symmetrical flat wings.. too bad it didnt get in.
SO TRUEEE
All the smash characters spawn into Vah Medoh. They fall from their spawn platform and was about to touch the divine beast's surface... before falling off to their deaths due to collision detection
imagine being revali. you tell link offhandedly this, cause literally speaking he cant fly to it. a century or so later, after your corrupted soul has likely long forgotten the comment, you see link rocket up with the speed of a tank shell, destroying windblight ganon before he can even react via slamming through him as a living canon ball. after freeing you he just gives you a knowing nod, before heading off to save the others
