Minute 1: you can pretend you're petting the dogs Minute 9: the divine beast tracks have SOS and SAD morse codes thrown in there that some of you have never noticed
9:04 I think revali's morse code happening later and being faint is due to him being arrogant and not wanting help, really symbolises him as a character
He desperately wanted to prove that he could handle this on his own and only used the Morse code when he was certain he was going to die. After all, he had no idea the other Champions were dying too. Revali probably felt ashamed that he had failed the biggest thing he had trained for.
I think it tells a more interesting story if we match the signal time stamp to the story of the fight more than the personality. Like quite a few others, I think there’s more to it than just arrogance. I think he’s boastful, but not to the point of arrogance. His boasting is proportionate to his skill. It seemed he was able to hold out well until the end, hence why the SOS signal was later. Considering his skill, I wonder if it was really foolish arrogance. I think the tides turned in favour of the blight late in the battle, hence why he then sent out the signal. Other enlightening comments in the comment section add to the debate. One shows Medoh was the furthest away and Revali accessed his respective beast last . Another suggests he was able to hold out despite the disadvantage of not being able to see well in the dark until he began running out of arrows. For such a theory- heavy franchise, the simple labels of Mipha as meek and Revali as cocky have really dominated. I like how the themes recover the depth of their personalities a bit more than just ‘cocky’ or ‘shy’, but I’m too much of an analysis nerd I think.
@@Cappyboom you can also see it as a shark tail's fins are vertical (like Sidon) and sea mammals tail fins are horizontal (like Mipha) so yeah Mipha is based on a dolphin
ikr! revali's story is so underrated, not a lot of people talk about it but he really was struggling along with everyone else, he just felt the need to hide it because everyone in his village was counting on him. not much unlike link tbh
Unless we get some insight as to how exactly the Blights ended the lives of each Champion, it's also equally as likely that he may have sustained an injury that prevented him from accessing Vah Medoh's control terminal located at the top. Perhaps he couldn't have flown up there to send it out as soon as possible, but as you said it is totally in character for him to have waited longer.
songs try to convey feelings through creative ways, rythm for example the horse sound steps are used in that song that plays in horse betting, heart beats are used in popular music, "staying alive" its an example of perfect rythm to give Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation. Melody is another way, "duel of the fates" has a melody that goes up and down all the time, ending in a neutral tone, because its the fight of good vs evil but none of them is prevailing. And of course the use of leitmotivs are the favourite of profesional composers.
Oh my god I just listened to that bit and I absolutely agree. That music- and that beat/part of it specifically- always stresses me out so much and I never understood why. My face did the surprised Pikachu meme hearing about the Morse code because it just works SO well to be creepy- even when you don't know what it really is 😬
The musical storytelling in the Divine Beast themes is phenomenal, the amount of detail packed into this game makes me ever more excited for what we'll see in TOTK
I don't know if anyone has said it yet, but the reason the star fragments look so similar to the gratitude crystals (and, for that matter, the stars in Mario Galaxy and Animal Crossing) is because they're based on konpeito, which is kinda like little chunks of rock candy and are popular in Japan.
8:58 Revali didn't have trouble sending off his distress signal... He was probably too prideful to send it in earlier, thinking "I can handle this on my own" but then he was quickly overcome by the force
12:53 The so called "suggestive statues" are likely based on jizo statues which are commonly found throughout japan. The statues are dedicated to Jizo, the Buddhist deity who protects children and travelers and are commonly found on roadsides. 38:10 The rubber helm is likely a reference to namazu, a giant catfish from japanese mythology who lives deep underground and causes earthquakes. Namazu was also referenced in A Link to the Past where, when you throw something into a pond in the dark world, a giant catfish appears and gives you the quake medallion.
@@AllegedlyHuman bro, i thought there was some kind of crazy lore/mistranslation reason. It just looks like penis? That's not even something to be cagey about.
The term “Namazu” also means catfish in Japanese just generally, and I’m saying this as a Japanese here. Although I’m uncultured when it comes to Japanese mythology, so I didn’t know about that there was a mythological creature based on catfishes
If you walk your horse into Kakariko, you can easily buy your horse's friendship by trotting over to the carrot field, dismounting, and waiting for them to finish eating.
I like to believe the reason Revali didn't immediately call for help wasn't that he couldn't, but that he chose not to, he wanted to prove himself capable, able to take out Ganon on his own, he never needed help before, why does he need it now? Unfortunately, this was not meant to be.
for the while morse code thing, i always took it like this: Revali is very stubborn and wouldnt want help, until its too late. this is why his distress signal comes in late. mipha and urbosa didnt notice anything until ganon attacked, but in daruks memory, he notices that death mountain is active all of a sudden, noticing something off way before anyone else.
I think Urbosa probably knew something was off, but maybe couldn't pinpoint it until it was on top of her. She could tell those two guys were Yiga, so she wouldn't be oblivious.
The music for the Devine beasts always makes me feel so scared for some reason after learning that they tell a bit of the story. It’s one thing to just be told “they died” but having unique times that they sent out distress signals or possibly were taken over and did SAD signals just feels so much more dreadful and scary to me for some reason. Like it’s more grounded or real somehow?
The spots in the Great Plateau that were restored in Age of Calamity were honestly so gorgeous, I was immediately sobbing when I first got to that point in the game. And to a lesser extent, the Lanayru Promenade. The villages prior to being murked were looking super nice too
16:42 it's actually quite common for stars to be represented like this in Japan, you see it across other games like Animal Crossing and they have a type of sugar candy called Konpeito with the same shape
Mario Galaxy references it with the Lumas, Pokemon references it with Minior, and Zelda references it again in Skyward Sword, with the Gratitude Crystals. They're part of the military food supply because they're a good source of necessary sugars and because their colorful designs boost morale.
I think most of the skull bases are carved rather than actual skulls, based on the fact that the "teeth" don't resemble the dental structure of any real creature. The horned reptilian skull might be that of Stallord from Twilight Princess. And it makes sense to me that the giant footprints could be from King Dodongo.
@@Myzelfa A bunch of Moblins working together could probably move a finished carving to wherever they want. The exact relation between Bokoblins and Moblins is kinda fuzzy to begin with but they might be either closely related subspecies or different developmental stages of the same species.
There’s a fun theory that Link DID pass from the guardians 100yrs ago and that the Shrine of Resurrection restores this particular Link’s soul to his body when he’s supposed to reincarnate. Could explain why he’s so foggy and starting out so weak as he’s actually not supposed to be the hero running around but has been forcibly yeeted back to Hyrule to finish what he started.
I am now actually freaked out by the Divine Beasts themes, I never realised that they had Morse Code in there calling for help and, considering what happened, it’s very, VERY creepy. Like what you’d see in a ‘Top Ten Scariest Messages From Beyond The Grave’ type videos . . .
8:50 i heard a tiktok theory that vah medoh was the farthest away from where everyone was so revali got there a bit after everyone else did. by the time he got there and got in control, everyone else was already gone. so basically, revail was the last divine beast pilot alive, and died shortly after
I wanted to include that but ran out of time. Also the rito have poor night vision and it was getting dark as calamity first appeared, so revali really was at a huge disadvantage
I remember hearing somewhere that Revali was actually the first to arrive as he could just fly straight there while everyone else had to travel on foot. Assuming the Blights were sent out at the same time, I think that Revali's pride prevented him from calling for help until he was close to losing the fight.
my personal interpretation is that revali was able to actually fend off windblight for much longer than the others could fight off their respective blight, but began to struggle as he ran out of arrows (similar to the illusory realm fight)
@@alexsmith-oo5kb This is partially backed up by AOC I think :O Windblight, personally for me is, the hardest blight within AOC. Even if people disagree, at the very least windblight is definitely much harder than its BOTW counterpart. This goes for every blight within AOC of course, but it seems to me that this implies Revali managed to deal a great amount of damage to Windblight for its state in BOTW to be significantly weaker even after so much time to regenerate it's strength a little
To expand upon the Divine Beast music shifting tone after a minute or so, this change actually happens in game when you activate the terminals in the beast.
I'm sure somebody's commented this before but I must note that calling a bird a cannibal for eating poultry is like calling a human a cannibal for eating cow meat. There's a lot of bird species just like there's a lot of mammal species
I like to think the morse code isn’t the champions just sending out morse code endlessly until someone hears it but rather they only start when they realise link has entered the divine beast. They all detect links presence and start sending s.o.s except Revali who might delay asking for help due to his pride or maybe he just is in disbelief link made it up to the divine beast…
The Dragons Farosh, Dinraal and Naidra are considered physical spaces by the game. If you point at them with your sheikah slate, you can place a pin on them. They will keep moving and the pin will stay in place, even after they left, which is the only way I know of that way you can create a pin high up in the air, attached to nothing.
If you take the lord of the mountain to the stable where the guy and his dog survived an encounter with it and talk to him while riding it he doesn’t react at all despite telling you if you see it to give it a stern talking to implying he originally may have had a unique quest for it
36:00 Frita eating poultry isn't weird at all, plenty of birds of prey eat other birds, describing that as cannibalism is like saying that it's cannibalistic for a human to eat a cow because we're both mammals.
11:45 The giant horned skull is actually really similar to the Barbarian helm, particuarly the horns. I believe the Zonai either saw or some way interacted with that one when it lived.
It could also be a volvagia reference from oot tho volvagia wasnt actually that big but the head shape was the same. And while im at it i think the Skull rocks are Just carved from Stone and dont actually belong to some dead creature and we've Seen a similar Design to those Skull rocks before in skyward sword you know those weird Skulls you could collect from enemies i think those were carved Ritual Skulls so the Monster Camp rocks could also be a callback to that
@@Tofu_va_Bien The horn structure is way off to be Stallord. We can't assume it's identity by looking at the sword; there's another skull, the generic one on top of woodland tower, with a sword in it. I don't think it's Volvagia either, but at least the horns match up a little bit more than with Stallord. Death Sword also has way different horns, and the size difference is not marginal, so I doubt with every fiber of my being that skull is a reference to Death Sword.
16:41 I forgot which stable, but I believe there is a quest at one of the stables involving a little girl talking about people in the sky (Skywayrd Sword reference) and asks you to make a barrel fly. As a reward, she gives you a star fragment.
The one genuine use that I found for tossing items is distracting the Yiga guards from a safer distance with bananas during the hideout infiltration - it's actually a really nice way to keep out of sight without having to wait for their backs to be turned.
59:00 The ancient arrows and Urbosa's fury probably work because only divine power is needed, not the light arrows or master sword specifically. This has implications that the Sheikah were able to replicate divine power with technology, essentially surpassing the gods themselves. Calamity Ganon taking over this tech to destroy Hyrule is equivalent to Ganon getting the Triforce from the Sacred Realm in the A Link to the Past, leaving Hyrule a post-apocalyptic land of monsters until Link defeats him and returns everything back to normal.
I thought the Silent Princess symbolized the fact that Zelda was incapable of using her magic. Like how mages get "silenced" in RPGs and can't use spells.
That's not a bad interpretation, but I always felt it was because Zelda's desire to research Sheikah technology (something she was passionate about) was being "silenced" by her father's demand to focus on her spiritual training. The flower's description of not being able to thrive in captivity parallels Zelda's development being held back by trying to force it.
21:05 I'm not sure if it's been stated otherwise, but I think it's more likely that all NPC's speak a single language (likely Hylian) as members of different races interact with each other fairly often and never address any form of language barrier. Maybe the languages are only used in written form? It's also worth noting that Link most likely does not understand ancient Sheikah text, as the text for tabs before they are obtained (Album and Compendium) are not legible and stated to be corrupted, but are always labeled correctly in Shiekah text before Link first learns about them. It's not confirmation, but I think it's worth noting that the Slate does seemingly translate the texts from Shiekah when they are shown to the player in English. Zelda lore is crazy! Video was great, just wanted to leave my two cents.
Interesting thoughts. Yeah, i just figure it's kinda like parts of Europe, where you might have a few boarding countries that speak dif languages, and generally people who live in those areas are at least somewhat bi/multi lingual
21:29 Many languages use one letter to represent multiple sounds. For example, every c in Pacific Ocean is pronounced differently. It's not a stretch to imagine other languages doing this as well, and the letter sounds just not mapping one-to-one to English
It's actually a mistake. The same script is used for A Link Between Worlds, which itself appears to be based off of the one used in Skyward Sword. Funny thing is, the SS version has different characters that repeat but they still match up to the same paired letters in the English alphabet. If you use half of them from the ALBW and half from SS, you get a full set of 26 unique characters.
The towers' heights are ordered to signify _the level of difficulty of unlocking them;_ the tallest ones like Hebra or Wasteland require not only a lot of stamina, but also elemental protection from the hot desert or the chilling winds of the tundra.
Akkala Tower doesn't require elemental protection, but the guardians surrounding it suggest preparation of Ancient Arrows at the very least. Avoiding the whole area and coming back later once you have the Ancient Armor Set is also a strategy that's suggested by the developers in Master Mode, where enemy HP scales beyond normal weapon damage and durability.
In comparison, Dueling Peaks Tower doesn't require anything to reach, but it also doesn't open up very many _reachable locations by paraglider_ *not also reachable by foot and/or climbing.*
Apparently the list in this video is by absolute height ("above sea level" as it were), not above the surrounding ground. I think the Gerudo Tower is by far the tallest from its base.
@@mathmannix yeah, the one that goes into the - let’s say - bottomless hole? I’d say that’s probably the tallest from it’s base. Makes you wonder where the Sheikah Towers end, and what their really bases deep underground look like.
@@joypink5599 well the holes aren't really bottomless, just full of mud that instantly sucks you in. You can see things clearly on the bottom with magnesis...
honestly I think the reason link couldn't have just had a good meal or a nap is because he literally fully died. Of course nintendo can't say it out loud because age ratings, but I think it was heavily implied. The shrine of resurrection took so long, deleted his memories and took most of his strength cuz it was healing and giving life back to a corpse.
I’m pretty sure the reason why Link had to go to the shrine of resurrection and not just a nearby stable bed for a quick rest is because he fully straight up died. Like, “Game Over” died. And if you have a fairy on hand, they don’t seem to work in the same way as the shrine. They protect Link from the fatal blow, be it in some magical force field way or whatever, and replenish a handful of hearts. Once you get a proper game over, no amount of fairies can revive Link. The shrine wasn’t just replenishing link’s health. It was reviving a clinically dead body, one that would’ve been dead for a good while considering the distance between fort hateno and the great plateau. And honestly, it did a pretty damn good job at it if he still has muscle memory of how to fight and was able to remember his name.
The reason panic blood moons happen is if theres a memory error or otherwise. Essentially, if the game gets overloaded. Ypu can trigger them with certain glitches, and they're more common on the wii u version as a result
57:18 Spectacle Rock actually also appears in Ocarina of time at, you guessed it, Death Mountain. It's never explicitly name dropped, but it appears as 2 smoke spewing hills in Death Mountain Crater. The Fire Temple's map design and position also imply that it was built inside Spectacle Rock.
I would say the gratitude crystals look much more similar to starbits from Super Mario Galaxy, which are based off of Konpeito, a Japanese candy. It's possible that they did it as a small Easter egg on both Wii games or just because they think the candy looks good. Animal Crossing New Horizons also has these things falling from the sky, I think.
A hawk eating chicken isn't any more cannibalism than a human eating pork or beef. Idk why people act like a bird of prey asking for poultry is somehow weird.
It's been over 6 years since this game came out and I've just found out that Malanya exists through this video. Just goes to show how smart the devs were with keeping this world as full of stuff as possible. I can't wait to have the same experience with TOTK. I want to see everything there is to see before I beat the game.
26:30 That’s actually a shutter from a shrine, where they are used as doors where you have to complete objectives to open them, the implication however is strange because how on Earth did Purah get inside the shrine to get those shutters
On the item throwing thing, I've seen people use it with bananas against the Yiga for the stealth mission, its a good way to bring them where you want them
For the Stalnox, how he got to the basement is easy, they killed the hinox(or when he was already a Stalnox) and brought the bone pile into the basement, where he either reassembled after falling apart from taking eye damage, or from the blood moon
1:40 Well this proves it!! Link wasn't dying or almost dead in that battle with Zelda against the guardians, but just out of stamina! He didn't need a fairy or meal, but just a stamilla shroom skewer! LOL
Zelda: Link, you're stumbling around. I think I better put you in a chamber where you'll sleep for 100 years and lose your memory. Link: Wait wait, I just need my stamina to come... *bonk* (Zelda didn't want Link to talk any more...)
The way you pronounced vah medoh with the same inflection as the words "vomit dough" gave me physical whiplash. Great video to watch at 3am btw, i'm subscribing!
19:25 the funniest thing to do here, if you're playing the game modded, is to play as zelda, and wear her same same dress as in the cutscene and it's just 2 almost identical Zelda's staring at each other
One of my fave Easter eggs in BOTW is the references in the names, not just the Zora's domain names but a ton of places in Hyrule are named after tons of characters and classic enemies
Despite how evil the monsters are, the idea of them dying and being resurrected whenever after they've starved to death in those cages is a little haunting
Correction about the "U King" name. It's based on playing cards. I'm pretty sure Skyward Sword was called "jack" and oot 3d was called queen. I'm a bit fuzzy on the specifics, but past games have been named after cards. The "u" probably comes from the wii u, which it was developed for
I like to think the SOS code comes in later in medoh’s theme due to revali’s ego and him not wanting to call for help until he realized he had no other option
12:40 If I had to guess, I'd imagine that footprints belongs to a particularly large Dodongo. Given the area, it would make sense and the size of King Dodongo in Ocarina (among some other boss appearances in the series) there IS precedent for them to potentially reach that size.
I think the reason Revali’s SOS is weaker is because of his pride. He didn’t want to call for help because he has an ego and so he only sent a distress after he was already very weak.
The thing about link knowing 3 languages is incorrect because you can hear some of the gerudo ladies saying that they have trouble speaking hylian. Also link pronounces voe boe.
re: the development name being "U King" - the zelda games at the time were titled that way; I believe LoZ:aLBW was called "Jack", OoT3D was "Queen", WWHD was "King", and Triforce Heroes was "Alice".
16:42 Star fragments are from Spirit Tracks. In that game it was a material to sell/ craft with. I’m also pretty sure it sells for the same price in both games.
plus, a lot of the times star fragment type items will look like the japanese candy konpeito :) same thing with the star fragments in animal crossing! you can also see it in soot sprite food from ghibli films and the hamster treats in hamtaro!
17:03 this is just a very standard way of depicting stars in japan. look at star fragments from animal crossing, star bits from mario galaxy, or literally just real world konpeito candy
I actually think the reason it took Revali longer to send out his SOS call is because he felt cockier and didn't want to admit he needed help, which would fit how he's portrayed
I wouldn’t say he’s “cocky” here. He may be obnoxious in conversation, but he took his duties VERY seriously. Because of this, admitting that he needed urgent help for the blight that he was TRAINED to handle felt shameful to him, it was a crushing defeat in his mind. While the other champions probably recognized the huge disadvantage they were up against and called for help ASAP, Revali was determined not to disappoint the others and prove his worth, only SOS’ing as a last resort on the brink of death. Revali, for how egotistical the community paints him out to be, is actually very insecure of his skills and place as a Champion.
15:00 actually the number 4 is a reoccurring thing in the zelda series in general. four giants and bosses in majora's mask, four elements in minish cap, the four-sword, which can create four clones in minish cap and four sword's adventure, four goddeses (farore, nayru, din, hylia), the name tetra(which means four) in wind waker, four spirit orbs for an upgrade in BoTW, four of ToTK's equivalent of spirit orbs in ToTK, and a bunch of other stuff
23:32, actually you can find the statue's sword somewhere else on the same mountain range. however i dont know if it says anything on the blade itself.
A trick I use when I play is that if you climb the akala tower and use revali's gale from the top you can sail all the way to the top of the cliffs surrounding lanayru and bypass the whole wandering path in the rain. You need stamina food though
Recently in a game I glided all the way (using several stamina refills) from the top of Mount Lanayru to the highlands southeast of Zora's Domain (where I only had to climb a little bit further to get to the Lynel there.) Then I sailed down into Zora's domain where I met Sidon for the first time.
At 17:10 the long toss for food is very useful in the Yiga Clan Hideout to drop bananas at a distance, especially for the 1st guard in front of the main hall
The closest thing that I can think of for the skull at 11:47 is Volvagia from Ocarina of Time because of the short snout and shape of the eyes. The hole at the top of the head that looks like it was caused by blunt force; which could also be a reference to Link using the Megaton hammer against him. The size and direction of the horns could be down to this thing being a decedent of Volvagia, just like Valoo from Wind Waker!
Those same dogs can lead you to treasure. Some of these are actually useful, thanks! I had one of those panic blood moons at 10am because I went around killing all lynels, Talos, Hinoxes and resources while skipping bloods moon. Can be done by hiding in a shrine before the cutscene plays. Takes about a week in game. Item tossing is useful for bananas with distracting the Yiga clan. It even works on the dlc final boss.
ALBW's and Tri-Force Heroes' internal codenames were, if I remember correctly, Alice and Hatter (Because you go into another world and find clothing items respectively), so maybe the UKing was just keeping with the motif
45:28 This would be consistent with being left handed. When walking, there is a tendency to lead with the foot opposite your dominant hand. Maybe in BotW, he decided the shield parry needed his dominant hand more than his swordplay did.
TBF to Frita, she looks like one of the more bird of prey based Rito, and hawks eating birds is not uncommon. [Flashes back to collecting hawk feathers from a chicken coup]
I don’t think the blood moon would revive every single monster that existed, the land would be flooded with monsters even more so than it even is, it’s likely only monsters that existed at the time Gannon revived
There are four shrines in the Great Hyrule Forest: One near the center (thankfully), and one for each of the trials. There are four islands associated with Tingle: Tingel, Ankel, Knuckel, and Davdi.
18:03 oh my god, you're telling me we could've potentially had all of these cute horse features?🥺😭❤️ I wish I never saw that because now I NEED my horse to poke its head through my window!
I've watch over 50 of these Did You Know About BotW videos and I'm still learning of new things I never encountered in-game yet. Thank you for making this type of content!
I think your probably right about the crest being a dodongo foot print. I'm sure the Gorons got the design for their spiritual stone from somewhere in their region that was a symbol for power. Our art is a reflection of our environments as we are all a reflection of the world and the sum of it as well. Hope I said that right lol

Yeah, he had trouble swallowing his pride and asking for help
Tossing food is actually how I cleared the Yiga Clan Hideout the first time. Tossing bananas in front and sneaking behind them for the two gates
yep
I'm pretty sure that's what the developers intended. seems every time I clear the Yiga hideout I always forget the faraway toss is an option tho
Nice. Yeah, i just drop it, whistle to distract, then walk around the crates and through the door
Wait... people DIDN'T do that in the Yiga hideout?
I did it by BLOOD (i killed them all)
12:53 The so called "suggestive statues" are likely based on jizo statues which are commonly found throughout japan.

"Inventory Slot Transfer" being nicknamed the "Infinite Stuff Trick" is the funniest and most accurate nickname ever I love it xD
Like it’s more grounded or real somehow?
i really like the idea that the SAD signal is frequency interference coming from the blights

More notably, the Skull bases resemble the ornamental skulls found in Skyward Sword, which are carved decorations made by the bokoblins.

i heard a tiktok theory that vah medoh was the farthest away from where everyone was so revali got there a bit after everyone else did. by the time he got there and got in control, everyone else was already gone. so basically, revail was the last divine beast pilot alive, and died shortly after
I wanted to include that but ran out of time.
@@alexsmith-oo5kb This is partially backed up by AOC I think :O
Windblight, personally for me is, the hardest blight within AOC. Even if people disagree, at the very least windblight is definitely much harder than its BOTW counterpart. This goes for every blight within AOC of course, but it seems to me that this implies Revali managed to deal a great amount of damage to Windblight for its state in BOTW to be significantly weaker even after so much time to regenerate it's strength a little
i think he just refused to call for help because he was scared of admitting defeat and being seen as weak, considering his personality
33:15 I knew it was named after him but how the developers felt, saying they felt his spirit was just heartbreaking...
Rest peacefully❤
You mean like Link entering the beast and it makes the spirits of the champions do SOS?

The Dragons Farosh, Dinraal and Naidra are considered physical spaces by the game. If you point at them with your sheikah slate, you can place a pin on them. They will keep moving and the pin will stay in place, even after they left, which is the only way I know of that way you can create a pin high up in the air, attached to nothing.
If you take the lord of the mountain to the stable where the guy and his dog survived an encounter with it and talk to him while riding it he doesn’t react at all despite telling you if you see it to give it a stern talking to implying he originally may have had a unique quest for it
36:00 Frita eating poultry isn't weird at all, plenty of birds of prey eat other birds, describing that as cannibalism is like saying that it's cannibalistic for a human to eat a cow because we're both mammals.
fr. also the zora eat fish too like? its not weird lol
In real life, hawks are about as closely related to chickens as we are to cows, funnily enough.
11:45 The giant horned skull is actually really similar to the Barbarian helm, particuarly the horns. I believe the Zonai either saw or some way interacted with that one when it lived.
It could also be a volvagia reference from oot tho volvagia wasnt actually that big but the head shape was the same.
And while im at it i think the Skull rocks are Just carved from Stone and dont actually belong to some dead creature and we've Seen a similar Design to those Skull rocks before in skyward sword you know those weird Skulls you could collect from enemies i think those were carved Ritual Skulls so the Monster Camp rocks could also be a callback to that
Is it similar to Deathsword from The Arbiter's Grounds in Twilight Princess?
I'm 99% confident it's Stallord from Twilight Princess, it's even got the sword stuck in its head!

The fact that Sethbling went from minecraft Redstone tutorials to speedruning BOTW is wild to me
There's 4 weapon types held by the 4 champions. The bow. The one handed sword. The two handed sword. And the spear.
He did it. He fulfilled his promise.

Well, Gerudo very explicitly *is* a distinct spoken language, but most Gerudo are shown to be bilingual
@@duncathan_salt Yeah, probably all Gerudo are, as their only option for a mate is male Hylians.
Makes you wonder where the Sheikah Towers end, and what their really bases deep underground look like.

honestly I think the reason link couldn't have just had a good meal or a nap is because he literally fully died. Of course nintendo can't say it out loud because age ratings, but I think it was heavily implied. The shrine of resurrection took so long, deleted his memories and took most of his strength cuz it was healing and giving life back to a corpse.
Cant wait for a ten hour version
😵💫
@@TheZeldaEnthusiast 45 minute then 10 hour
It’s a super common depiction of stars and star fragments in Japan I don’t think it was really a reference to anything
A hawk eating chicken isn't any more cannibalism than a human eating pork or beef. Idk why people act like a bird of prey asking for poultry is somehow weird.
Calling the monks’ covered dais in the shrines a “monk box” 😂 you’re not wrong 🤣
When you put it like that, it's actually hilarious 😂
It's been over 6 years since this game came out and I've just found out that Malanya exists through this video. Just goes to show how smart the devs were with keeping this world as full of stuff as possible. I can't wait to have the same experience with TOTK. I want to see everything there is to see before I beat the game.
I’m currently over 405 hours in TOTK and I am still finding new places and new things. I love both of these games so much
26:30 That’s actually a shutter from a shrine, where they are used as doors where you have to complete objectives to open them, the implication however is strange because how on Earth did Purah get inside the shrine to get those shutters
Hmm, i was thinking like shutter and snap both being camera sounds
30:16 I find it hilarious that this idea wouldn’t even be completely new because of the alien invasion quest in Majoras Mask
Lol yeah, had i known better during scripting, I'd have written that bit a little differently 😅

52:30 "link has the strength in his left arm to propell a rocket into orbit"
we gon ignore the fact he can manipulate all space time around him
19:25 the funniest thing to do here, if you're playing the game modded, is to play as zelda, and wear her same same dress as in the cutscene and it's just 2 almost identical Zelda's staring at each other
One of my fave Easter eggs in BOTW is the references in the names, not just the Zora's domain names but a ton of places in Hyrule are named after tons of characters and classic enemies
like retsam forest?
That's what everyone's saying
Which is funny and ironic because number 4 is regarded as the number of misfortune in Japanese, kinda like number 13 in the west.
23:32, actually you can find the statue's sword somewhere else on the same mountain range. however i dont know if it says anything on the blade itself.
Thanks!
16:57 Both are taking inspiration from a specific Japanese snack, which is also what Star Bits from Super Mario Galaxy are based on!
This must have been such a long a grueling video to research but it was well worth it. Fantastic job!
56:07 "the implication that France somehow exists in the world of Zelda" is so freaking funny to me
"It looks like you are gonna shoot your whole weapon at the enemy"
Tears of the kingdoom: good idea!
Other fact : The symbols you can see when zooming on the marks of the sheikah slate are also text which translates to : _it's dangerous to go alone_
Honestly forgot the name of that boss despite beating it a couple of days ago
It would be awesome if Malanya could revive undead horses, I remember that once I protected a stall horse by hiding it in a giant skull
Now having watched tears of the kingdom, most of these things have insane lore implications
I don’t think the blood moon would revive every single monster that existed, the land would be flooded with monsters even more so than it even is, it’s likely only monsters that existed at the time Gannon revived
Lore accurate Link: fucking launches the Master Sword via bow
There are four shrines in the Great Hyrule Forest: One near the center (thankfully), and one for each of the trials.
There are four islands associated with Tingle: Tingel, Ankel, Knuckel, and Davdi.

I've watch over 50 of these Did You Know About BotW videos and I'm still learning of new things I never encountered in-game yet. Thank you for making this type of content!
So, you know Teba is based on a hawk, but are taken aback by another Rito liking poultry?
...birds eat other birds
I think your probably right about the crest being a dodongo foot print. I'm sure the Gorons got the design for their spiritual stone from somewhere in their region that was a symbol for power. Our art is a reflection of our environments as we are all a reflection of the world and the sum of it as well. Hope I said that right lol
Fun fact, birds eat other birds, as well as fish eating other fish, it makes sense for the Zoras and Ritos to be "cannibals" even though they are not cannibals..
30:05 I find it creepier that the rito advertise the beds in their inn to be filled with genuine rito feathers
That's like if someone offered you a pillow filled with human hair.
