Fun fact about the SOS notes in the Divine Beast music. Ruta, Naboris, and Rudania’s morse code start at about the same time, yet Medoh’s starts later. Revali’s pride prevented him from calling for help until the very last moment.

Isn’t it also a lot more frantic compared to the others? Most of them are practically sedate. It’s like they’re saying “I have arrived, I have assessed the situation, I cannot handle it on my own, I need backup, please send help”. I think my favorite detail about the SOS in the music is *where* in the songs they play. Mipha's plays almost immediately like she realized she was in trouble right off the bat. Urbosa's plays intermittently like she is sending out a call for help whenever she manages to disengage. Daruk's is delayed and quiet like he is almost ashamed to call for help. Revali's comes the latest into his song and almost sounds panicked in pace.

28:07 To me, the Seven Gerudo Heroines being the Seven Sages would mean that the Eighth Heroine separated from the main group is Link, the Hero of Time - especially since the statues are all holding the Sword that Seals the Darkness, while the Sages and Link were responsible for sealing Ganon.
It’s really neat that they were all depicted as women, because the statues were probably carved by the all-female Gerudo tribe, who would assume that any heroes would also be female once their actual identities were lost to time.

My favorite bit of lore is that even after millennia, Zelda’s Lullaby theme from Ocarina of Time is still used to represent the royal family. To the point where in the throne room of Hyrule Castle the triforce sculpture above the throne is ringed by three musical measures with the notes for the lullaby transcribed out. Not all the notes are correct, but after 10,000 years and completely divorced from its original context, it’s entirely possible that the builders of Hyrule Castle didn’t know that it was a musical staff to begin with.

Revali, Urbosa, Mipha, and Daruk all have their special abilities but seemingly Link does not have such a special ability other than he is the Master Swords chosen. Due to the Calamity, general knowledge about how to build houses was lost. As a result the new houses that have show models in Hateno, and are later used in Tarry Town, have a very cubic design. It is a simple and easily reproducible design, almost entirely made of wood. At the same time, they are destroying one of the last stone houses that could teach them the old ways of constuction.

I think that carpenters are probably just looking for ways to quickly and cheaply give people homes in a post-Calamity world where settling efforts in most places have been knocked back to square one. Hyrule might even be due for a baby boom once Ganon is gone for good, meaning that there would be way more people who need homes in the near-future and not many places to put them without a bunch of Bolson-esque starter homes.
The ease with which something can be made doesn't denote a lack of skill on the maker's part, and the primarily wooden, building block, ready-made nature of Bolson homes is a lot more space efficient and much easier to mass-produce than bigger stone houses like the one Link bought.

The SOS message in the Divine Beasts' background music is probably my favorite hidden detail from the BotW soundtrack. But unlike many, I don't take it to be a literal last distress call from the Champions or anything like that. For that to be the case, we would have to assume not only that the background music is diegetic (i.e. literally existing in the fictional world as we the audience hear it), but that Hyrule somehow developed an identical telegraphy code to Earth's Morse code, and that really pushes the boundaries of believability. I think it's just a cool audio Easter egg that gives the music an extra, almost subliminal edge to make it that much more unsettling.

I believe from what we see in the game and Aoc the Champions control the Divine Beast with their mind or some way they’re connected to it so they could’ve done this while fighting. It could also be an ongoing signal the Divine Beasts are calling out after they detected their pilots have fallen or the way that the Champions “talk” to the Divine Beast they might have their own souls.

Regarding the hearing the gods thing, I think the reason he thought Hylians couldn't do it anymore is due to their being nobody with a connection to the Sacred Realm. It was likely an ability belonging to the Goddess clan of which Hylia seems to have been the leader of (different from the Three Goddesses who made Hyrule and the triforce). It would make sense if the Goddess clan lives in the sacred realm so the ability could come from there. Zelda's ability could be due to her being a reincarnation of Hylia and therefore having an intrinsic connection to the sacred realm.
Also, the eighth heroine could be a reference to a Link Between Worlds where there was the seven sages, and then you had Zelda separately. This is despite how in OoT, Zelda was the seventh sage and their leader. Therefore it could be about her original role as the seventh sage having changed to being an eighth person within those two games.

In Zora's domain at the top of the kingdom is a giant fish statue which I'm pretty sure is in reference to Lord Gabu Gabu from Ocarina of Time as no other fish in game looks like it.
Edit: Correction, the helmet on the rubber armor also includes the same looking fish. Not sure the connection, would love if anyone could find it if there were.

That point of there being no Gerudo king since Ganondorf is really interesting.
Makes you wonder if it was a conscious choice by the Gerudo, or whether a higher power intervened after Ganondorf managed to cause so much destruction.
Maybe after OoT, Zelda (or whoever took over the ruling of Hyrule) ordered the Gerudo to end the tradition?
Or maybe Hylia herself intervened, stopping male Gerudos from being born completely, as a precaution and/or as punishment?
Maybe Ganon still being alive is stopping some kind of reincarnation cycle, preventing the next Gerudo king from being born?
Or maybe (and this is a total, baseless stretch just because it's fun to theorise) the "Male Gerudos are always destined to be king" legend was some kind of manipulative story Ganon, Kotake and Koume started among their people to get him into power? Ganondorf was absolutely a manipulator, so it wouldn't be out of character.

Or maybe the reason no more were "born" is because they kill the male children to avoid a repeat of Ganondorf.

The whale divine beast in the tech lab is seemingly leftover from the original plans for more beasts. There's a good video by Dr Lava about the cut divine beasts, and one of them has the exact same design as the tech lab's whale.

One thing I wanted to point out about the Seven Heroine Statues being the sages, the Eighth one might be referring to Link. Given that the statues sword is further away, that could imply it being the Master Sword, the blade the Hero does not keep all the time. The reason I came to this theoretical conclusion is because in Skyward Sword, Link is the one that "creates" the Master Sword.. and if memory serves, in both ALttP and Twilight Princess, there are references to a Sage that helped in creating the Master Sword itself, thus titling Link as a Sage.
But that's just a lil' random thought I had, could just be a theory in and of itself and only that.

Good day Zeltik, I know I'm late to this, but I have binged most of your video's a newer zelda fan here, only been playing since probably 2016, but I'm so upset I missed this series growing up, as I didn't have the systems to play most of them, but to me as far as world, characters and lore, zelda is second to none in gaming, and you make each video discussion with such passion and vigor, makes me glad to have a gaming community such as zelda's

Watching this vid a year after Tears came out... It's fascinating to me just how much detail went into Breath of the Wild... and how little went into Tears of the Kingdom. I only did one playthrough of TotK and that was plenty for me, but BotW keeps drawing me back again and again. I don't even think it necessarily has to do with the BotW story being better than TotK's, I think it's more to do with BotW feeling like it got a lot more love and thoughtfulness from the devs.

Ok I just had a flash of inspiration. Look at the great plateau. It doesn't take a genius to view this landmark as strange. A plateau raised from the ground with no natural explanation as to why? And the location is strange too, far away from Hyrule caste and the central Hyrule field, unlike how it used to be. But now think about what we saw in the Tears of the Kingdom trailers: Landmasses rising into the sky. What if the Great Plateau protrudes from the earth as it does and is in the strange location it is in because it was moved there? It flew to the skies and was placed down at its current location. For some reason.
