It's crazy to me that so many laws are still unchanged, but in the UK they've only recently (in approximately the last year or so) changed the law so that if one parent k!lls the other parent, they instantly lose parental rights of their shared children. So I'm wondering if there is still some loophole where a parent could somehow retain their parental rights even after a crime as heinous and evil as harming one of their other children.

I'm glad to hear her youngest child wants nothing to do with her! If he was of her personality, he would have supported her abuse of Timothy and Paul. He's young but he sees her treatment of Timothy for what it was. Shanda neglected/tortured Timothy but put Gabriel on a pedestal as a young King. She had Paul exalting him as such while simultaneously abusing Timothy, yet this young child can see what they did was wrong. Hopefully, he can grow up normally now and be able to overcome the association of the world's most cruel woman as being his birth mother. Shanda tried to keep her young king from knowing of her vitriolic abuse methods, so it's good to see her lose all parental rights to the one child she actually treated the 'best'. He's the only one who mattered to her and probably the only one she expected to contact her in prison. It will be lonely for her now, 5 kids, and none want anything to do with her!!!

Those torture positions he was making Timothy hold for hours on end would have been extremely painful for a healthy person, let alone an emaciated starving child. However, when Paul was asked if the boy cried during those punishments, Paul repeatedly said no, he did not cry. I got the impression he was lying, trying to make out that he wouldn't torture Timothy so badly that he'd make him cry. Paul's responses often appeared to be about self preservation. He was also wise enough to work out when to say "under Shanda's instruction" whenever he felt he was being implicated in the torture. He is definitely more conniving and evil than his sympathisers give him credit for. I'm waiting for the judge to fling the book at him, but he seems to have a lot of sympathy. How does a parent rationalize withholding food as punishment? Can we say Ruby Franke & Jodi Hildebrant? 😡🤬

Why the hell is the biological father getting off scott free? Why hasn't one single reporter or news agency commented on the father?

I now have total respect and empathy for VanderArk’s defense attorney. I believe him when he said that this is the worst case he’s ever been handed. He did his best, but the facts are, that there was no defense he could possibly offer.

You can't have or show remorse for something you won't even accept accountability or responsibility for.

I also watched the Video of her response when the Police were at her home after receiving the call re Timothy's sad demise.
Knowing of her history of torturing Timothy, her response is absolutely beyond belief let alone words!
She was all fake tears and lie after lie after lie!
But when they further questioned her.......
Oh, she "Cant remember lieing to them."
Judges decisions 100% fitting for this waste of space!

It's never in the best interest of a child to be forced (depending on age, they wouldn't have a say at all and a judge could overrule it anyway) to spend time with the person who murdered their sibling.

I thought her attorney did the best he could and I thought he was the most respectful attorney. Genuine guy. Unfortunately, everyone is entitled to a fair trial and he tried his best. Maybe it makes it easier to at least try to see the good in your client. I don’t know … but, I respected him and his efforts.

he was a follower, he also has some issues. he did as his mom ask. possibly didn't know what else to do, what would she do to him if she didn't follow her demands? i hope they get him some help and get the brothers and sisters back together.. yes, he did have a part, but he was totally manipulated. he also shows remorse. they already lost Timothy, they shouldn't loose another because of the mother.

Eric should be Charged and Sentenced for Child Abuse and Neglect along with his ex-Wife who failed to protect her Stepson allowing Timothy to go live with his Mother Shanda, whom the State of Oklahoma had removed her Parental rights years before for reasons of Child Abuse!
These Adults, Especially the Biological Father who had Legal Custody of Timothy according to the State of Oklahoma, should be Charged by the State of Oklahoma for breaking his oath as a Parent to Protect and love his child!
Willfully allowing his Child to live with his Abuser!
