@@theroxygirl731 she was suspected of child abuse, including sexual abuse. She's a monster. All of her children need to be evaluated, but you can't force the adults until they commit a crime.
He didn't even show up for the trial, seems to be entirely disinterested. However, he didn't actually harm the child, so I don't think any charges could be brought. Being a useless a-hole is not a crime, sadly.
I absolutely agree. Children who are abused often become abusers. I am not surprised at Paul's behavior at all. Eric Ferguson should be charged with multiple crimes!!
Yeah, when the Judge said the father and stepmother were against Paul's behavior so much so they made him leave the home at 18 because of it....then why did they they send Timothy right back to Shanda knowing Paul was there. If they made Paul leave because he was such a bully I can't understand sending Timothy to live with him along with the Mother who was not supposed to have custody.
The fact Paul could not even say his brothers name or “ my brother” in his chance to speak says volumes. To call Timothy “ him” .

@@AB-hq6vb Even if someone has a predisposition for a mental disorder, there is almost always a trigger of some kind for it to develop fully. There's a 99.999% chance that Shanda had a traumatic childhood as well.

It is still unclear to me what damage has occurred in Paul’s brain from growing up in this terrorist mother’s environment. He got the luck of the draw in the mental health specialist who did his eval. I think his life was ruined the day he was born to Shanda. He did show signs of trying to help his brother toward the end, when he noticed how thin he looked. He even went against his mother’s orders by feeding him, which shows some complexity to the diagnosis. This is such a sad ending to a horrible story.
He’s actually zero steps away from being a psychopath. He’s actually well within the psychopathic range.
I do not think he would have done anything like what he did without her directing him. But he should have to do plenty of jail time.

If you listen to judge properly..if everyone that commits an evil act gets less time because of abuse that'd be almost every defendant..Judge reviewed this case extremely carefully. rewatch the sentencing.
Paul thought he was going to get off easy. He was shocked when the judge told him he would serve 30 - 100 yrs. Awesome job your honor.

I completely agree with you, Paul is a product of his mother, too bad he didn't take after his father or even his brother Timothy, who didn't understand why he was being tortured to death . There was no reason, it was based on jealousy, envy, and obsession for love from his mother. She's the main guilty person, but Paul did these awful, horrible things to his brother Timothy for no reason. He will spend his time in prison where he belongs. IMHO.

I was at 1st until I listened to the whole trial and sentencing,especially when the judge said he lacks empathy and has the makings of a psychopath. Yea he is definitely where he belongs. I'm glad justice was served for poor Timothy. That boy endured horrific treatment.

This is probably the most intelligent and fair Judge I have come across. Most people let their compassion rule over logic. It’s crucial to know which cases deserve compassion and which do not.

I believe compassion was one of the biggest reasons for the judge's sentencing. He had a deep compassion for Timothy. It showed a fair, intelligent, and compassionate judge.
Paul is a co-conspirator period. He poured hot sauce down Timothy's mouth, he bathed him in ice, he deprived him of food and water. I could go on and on. He could have gotten help for his brother. He for sure didn't love him enough. He is every bit as guilty as his mom. May God have mercy on his soul.

Paul was 18 when he went back to his mother at that point he is an adult and has the right to make his own decisions and those rules no longer apply, he could go live in his own apartment if he wanted! Now Timothy’s father and step mother is another story they should have punishment as well, but Paul’s father can’t be held liable for an adults decisions!
For clarification: the reason that Paul and his mother are so upset is because they are going to be spending the rest of their lives in prison. They are not upset because of what they did to Timothy. Timothy is nothing to them. Nada. They have completely forgotten about him. Their only thoughts are with themselves...

Yep he’s onto his old lady gf. He hated hearing the words in the moment but he doesn’t really care deep down. You can tell by his phone calls. It was so satisfying seeing the 30 year sentence.

My husband grew up this way also. His mom had a lock on the fridge. She was afraid of her kids being "fat". I am very thankful she died from cancer when my husband was 16. I never knew her. I've been married 42 years, but I used to cry when he told me about his mother's twisted behavior!
I know of parents like this as well. They eventually had their children taken away.

I'm sorry your husband had that life, it's terrible. It's hard for other ppl to hear about child abuse, it's hard for ppl to believe. Not all women who have children should have them, they're just a by-product. Mine starved me for the first 9 days as an infant at home. She would continue to do it off & on for years. When I hear her asking her friend for money because she "can't eat prison food" and how hard it is feeding herself on so little. Then seeing her order cream cheese and crackers, tuna, beans, sausages etc. Then hearing her complain about being cold and not getting books and breathing treatments I get so upset. Did Tim get to choose his food? Was he cold in the ice bath? Was he comfortable laying on a tarp in a closet. No. I hope her fellow inmates give her the welcome she deserves.

Amazing judge. He considered all the evidence and didn't fall for Paul's performance and excuses. I appreciate how he laid out his thought process and reasoning behind sentencing. 100% agree with him that Paul is "just as bad, if not worse." Finally, justice was served for Timothy.

I am so sick of people trying to use autism as an excuse for horrendous behavior. My son has high functioning autism and he absolutely knows right from wrong. It’s such a disservice to the entire community.
You took the words right out if my mouth! My son also has high functioning Autism. He's almost 18 & is one of the most caring & compassionate kids I've ever seen. Just because someone may be on the spectrum doesn't mean they don't know right from wrong.
And you don't think, if your son had been raised in Paul's family, the outcome would have been different for him?

They are not saying people with autism don’t know right from wrong. What they are saying is people with autism are more susceptible to manipulation. Your son’s situation has nothing to do with this case as he was not raised in the same environment. Also, autism spectrum is huge. Just because your son has autism, does not mean he face the same challenges as Paul does. For your son’s sake, please learn more about autism spectrum.
Timothy didn't display any "horrendous behavior". His mother displayed horrendous behavior. Timothy liked taking things apart and putting them back together. Every thing that Monster & Son said he did was classic higher functioning Autism. I may have misunderstood your comment. I meant no disrespect. I'm an activity director at an assisted care home with senior citizens with Autism. All of the reasons VanArdvark gave about his "punishable behavior" were perfectly "normal" for his level of us multiple diagnosis.

The shock on his face when hearing the sentence, told us he didn't expect this heavy punishment. He probably thought him witnessing against his mother would make him out as a victim, lowering the sentence by a lot. Judge said it all, and did the right thing.
He was probably expecting no more than 8-10 yrs. I'm glad the judge didn't excuse his behaviors and actions.

However i think he missed that there is still a redeemable child side of him. he sought connection parentally because he got brownie points for abuse. Paul asks the judge for mercy, fairness and compassion, yet gave Timothy none of no things. I have no pity at all for Paul. As he made Timothy suffer, let him reap the same.
This judge is very very smart. I didn't realize till he said it. Paul already had a history of abusing his brother, Paul enjoyed doing it, Shanda used him ye, but Paul didn't object he enjoyed doing it. The judge is 100% right.

I’ve been saying that all along. It drove me crazy that so many people defended, supported and sympathized with him.
The fact that he didn’t live with Shanda until age 19 means he already had his “character” developed and was old enough to know right from wrong.
He also had access to the camera account and there’s no way Shanda could be watching videos of him abusing Timothy all day while being a COURT REPORTER, in front of lawyers, bailiffs, a judge and other court staff.
That means Paul could have turned off the cams and fed him, deleted videos of him eating, erased videos etc.
But he didn’t.
He also had a job and cell phone, he had access to a the internet and freedom outside of the home.
But the worst part is how he regularly snitched on Timothy, made things harder for him, encouraged Shanda to allow him to abuse Timothy more vigorously and introduced new methods of torture/abuse to her.
He is worse in my opinion because he was only 5 yrs older than Timothy, was the same gender as Timothy and came from the same place as Timothy. He should have felt empathy but instead he felt contempt and then enjoyed his suffering.
Shanda seemed fed up, cold and resentful at ever having to be a mother. She was upset over her husband being gone and took her anger out on a special needs child.
Paul enjoyed what he did to his brother. He’s sick. He’s definitely worse.

I think Paul put on an okay show during shondas trial as far as making himself appear autistic and we all think and see things differently and I think a lot of people were genuinely believing that Paul was a victim especially those who only watched bits and pieces and didn’t have/know all the other damning evidence but it’s clear to everyone now that he’s a psychopathic predator although I did see some groups for people that still think he’s absolutely just a victim and I will never understand that but I guess people just see things differently or maybe don’t understand the evidence, who knows. @@SaraBoBara5591 First of all: psychopaths and people in the autism spectrum, share a lot of characteristics, like for example lack of empathy. Paul had lack of empathy towards his brother. People with a sibling with autism have a higher probability of being also in the spectrum because is genetic. So, again, he could be autistic, have a lack of empathy, being cruel and a bully, a victim of a dysfunctional family and a predator, all at the same time. People is not kind, darling. Being kind with victims is easy. Try kindness toward rapists and psychopaths (or even toward an autistic guy who tortured his brother because he enjoyed it) because they are sick, and is not their fault to have "defective" brain. This Paul is a bad person, but is not his fault. It is complicated, but I didn't need someone else telling me what to think about him.

Or even if he had his own children, he wouldn't think twice about torturing them!! It's despicable of them to say he's not a danger to society. Yes, he's not going to hurt someone stronger than himself because he's a coward and preys on the defenseless. And I pray he's subjected to the unimaginable hell in prison at the hands of other inmates.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with Paul other than being evil just like his mother. His empathy and sympathy are for himself. They both enjoyed every minute of the torture they inflicted on Timothy. He is a danger to society. No doubt about it. Just look at his reaction to his sentence 56:00. He’s shocked the judge didn’t buy into his bs.
I think there's something very wrong with people who have no empathy & enjoy torturing people. I don't there's anything wrong with being autistic. If anyone had anything wrong with them out of Paul & Timothy I'd 100% say it was Paul. But yeh he's not autistic. He targets autistics for abuse as shown by his actions towards his brother then towards his cell autistic mate in jail who had to be moved for his own protection because Paul was bullying him for showing signs of autism.

He worked outside the home and could have easily reported his mother. He was enjoying what he was doing to his brother. That boy perked up when he heard that 30! The judge expressed how disturbing it was to see and hear all the evidence during the mother’s trial. I’m not surprised by this sentence.

I love a judge who actually prioritizes the victim's rights over the perpetrator's. His thoughtful and thorough examination of all the evidence of Paul's history, mental assessment, and actions helped deliver a fair and just sentence. What broke my heart, was there was no victim impact statement by Timothy's family.
I won't be satisfied until I know Timothy's birth father is also charged in Oklahoma for handing over custody to Shonda when it was against the law. What are you doing Oklahoma??

Paul SA'd Timothy when he was 5 and had to be put in a separate school so there was no contact.
He bullied his younger siblings for most of his life. He didn't live with his mother for many years. His childhood evaluation gave a diagnosis that is pretty much code for budding psychopath.
He told his current shrink that it didn't even occur to him that what he was doing was wrong (probably in a misguided attempt to look "innocent").
If you listen to the jail phone calls, he finds no irony in his own complaints about bad food, cold showers, lack of preferred entertainment, and a request that he not receive spicy food in his care packages. Not one word of sorrow for his little brother. Not one word of responsibility. The verdict is fair.

My 4 siblings and I grew up with a mother like this. I actually was locked in a tiny room with nothing in it for an entire summer not allowed to have any food. I could use the bathroom once per day timed. My siblings would sneak me peanut butter sandwiches in the middle of the night. Our mother would sometimes try and force us to hurt or abuse each other- we would do so as lightly as we could bawling our eyes out, or once we got old/big enough, refuse all together. We all protected each other and looked out for each other, (except for one, the also sociopathic golden boy) and as a result, we were all kicked out of the house permanently by 13-16 (apart from sociogoldenboy.) The love between siblings is strong in situations like this no matter the age or mental capacity. It's like the bond of those who are in combat together. Unless of course you have zero empathy. Any one of us would have and did many times take a beating ourselves for refusing to hurt another one. Lock him up and throw away the key.
So sorry this happened to you and your siblings. My mom always favored my brother. I was always the one who go beat and he would laugh over it.

Well Paul, you got a long time to think about every time you willingly abused Timothy. You are no different than Chanda, she was his mother and you were his brother, you were both partners in crime. My family knows what abuse is. My dad 18 years in the military had PTSD BAD but this was a WW2 and Korean war Veteran, they did not know what PTSD was. Dad could get very abusive if he drank alcohol, we had been beat and mistreated,,,,NOT ONE of us EVER mistreated each other between the 5 siblings. We all took care of each other and none of us grew up being abusive. We just prayed for each other to at least be able to grow up to an adult without dying and we did. We still loved our Dad as we knew he was screwed up by the war. We all felt so bad for our Dad we forgave him and it all worked out in the end.
