If anyone is thinking what a parting glass is, it's also known as a stirrup up cup, in Scotland and England, this cup hung from the side of the hirse and was used to accept a drink before and after a long hunting journey specifically fox hunting that's why it's called the parting glass. This song is originally from the Scottish borders where this tradition was common practice.
The song obviously eventually became sung in Scottish pubs but Auld Lang Syne stole it's parting mantle.
Today I heard this for the first time, It was used as processional music for my best friend of 50 years, he as originally a Scot from Falkirk but lived in Wales for 55+years, on coming home I found it on RUclips, Steve loved a drink but loved his fellow man even more, will treasure this for ever more 💖💖🏴🏴

Oh wow, did I hear a bit of the Irish in your voice? I'm a superfan of Celtic Woman, and Eabha McMahon sings this with the authentic lilt and I heard that in this too. I just *loved* this!!!! This is where you write me off as a crazy old lady, but I think you have very pure and gentle energy, a lot of light. It's beautiful, and your light shines. I don't know what the song would be, but I would love to see you and the Hollens do a cosplay song. I think you are magical in the good sense, and soooo very very gifted! Thank you for covering this!

I do not know if he (Hound or Peter) are from the mother land, but I think it does not make a difference to me. Lilt away! I have much of the Irish blood in me, as well as Welsh and a plethora of interesting mixes, and I lilt during this song.
