Which of these would you pick if you were choosing one as your first camera? Let me know 👇
No thanks mate a74 for the win
Thank you, this is exactly the question I had. I have APS-C lenses for use in crop in the A7IV. I really like the smaller form factor of those lenses.
Are the stills good enough for product photography? Was considering the A6000 series but it's kind of outdated. This would double up great as a video (and limited-use still camera) if the stills are great
To be honest, I think that A7IV is still a better buy. I looked through the footage available today and ... A7IV's low light is much better, Stabilization looks better on A7IV as well, and my main concern is IQ ... the picture is pretty flat ... I don't know how to explain it, but it looks flat. A7IV and A7sIII create amazing depth of field and the video looks more alive, not as plastic as on fx30, you know what I mean, right? So, yes, the price is good and there are so many features, but do I like the image quality? I'd rather say no than yes. and I believe that's why the price is so aggressive.
Looking to upgrade my camera. I’m currently running an a6500 and a7rii. Been doing way more video than photo so this FX30 would really make sense for me. I had the same thoughts you did about the video features. I’ve had issues with overheating with my cameras and I’ve read and watched video that say the A7iv has overheating issues as well. The FX30 has the body of the FX3 that doesn’t deal with overheating like the A7iv. I’m hoping the FX30 doesn’t either.
What’s your thoughts on pairing the fx30 with the A7IV? I was also considering maybe a A7C for my photography camera and my A7IV for video? I would love your thoughts.
I shoot with the a7siii, the primary reason I want the FX30 is to run it with the 18-105. It's just the most practical Gimbal Run N Gun kit in all of Sony.
I picked up the A7IV when it dropped, been in love with it, honestly all I'm missing is the 4K60 no crop and a 4K120 no crop of the FX3/A7SII.
Great vid 🎉
what are your thoughts using a speedbooster with fx30 with cine lenses?
Thanks for the video. I've got the A7III. Do you think I can switch for video with the FX30 (need 10 bits colors ) or the A7III is still better in low light conditions (when it's not possible to control the light, weddings, events etc) ? Thanks :) (I'll Keep the A7III for photos)
So I just bought the a7iv a month ago and am still in the return period to bnh photo. We are a 2 shooter team and also have a a7siii. I shoot much of my work (wedding video) in 60fps so we obviously deal with the crop and had a few apsc lenses from a previous camera that we use with the a7iv. The reception time at a wedding has some hugely changing lighting conditions. The a7iv has more auto focus points like 725 or something and the fx30 450 or something in that range. any input would be appreciated.
Coming from an xt4, I love my a7 IV. Only thing I wouldn’t have is the 4k120 but that’s not a big issue in my use case.
4K huge crop in fx30 is a great deal ?
Ive been loving the A7IV in the past months but this thing looks sweet!
Somebody, tell me plz this new FX 30 have the same feature as in a A7C of gyro-data stabilization in catalyst or no ???
I had the FX3 and sold it, never really needed 120p 4K. Although it was a great camera, I decided to get and A7IV bc I need a good camera for photography as well. I absolutely love it. Only "bummer" is the 60p crop bc I shoot 90% of my video work in 60p but also do not shoot wider than 24mm ever. So paid with the 17-28 and 28-75 G2 Tampon, It is perfect. I see the FX30 for people who already had a crop sensor camera and lenses that want to get a more cinematic camera. Otherwise I would much rather have FF and FF lenses. Bodies will come and go. If the FX"4" gets Full DCI 4K I would think about getting one of those in the future. I actually prefer the Blackmagic cameras but since I am a solo shooter I could not deal with worrying about focusing all the time and was the reason I sold it too. If need, I can always rent any camera I want.
Does the fx30 have the full stills capability/ features as the Alpha cameras?
