Have been using an a7s3 and a7IV for a few years and just picked up an FX30, that’s how I found your channel. Not only one of the coolest names I’ve ever heard, but some of the best content on RUclips ☺️
I always refer to the movie Collateral with Tom Cruise and Jamie Fox...that movie has tons of noise, the director was even worried about it when they made the movie. One of the first big films on Digital, and they did pretty good. Most cameras, Super 35 Fuji, Sony, etc and the four-thirds like GH5s can do better today than that super expensive camera back then. But can anyone use light the way they did, or tell a story. I mean, the FX30 for the price, gives guys like me unlimited potential when you think about it.
You are so right. That movie was amazing. Director Michael Mann pioneered it and shot on SONY cameras at that time, and the low light scenes was incredible (at that time).
How about a test at S35, looking into using Laowa Nanomorph, but would need S35 crop anyways, but be interesting to see which camera on s35 be cleaner and also full frame cropped to s35 if at higher ISO would be better.
@@KofiYeboah There is difference in older camera like A7rii was super clean s35 in high iso because of high amount of pixels, but A7sii in s35 noise is more visible, because of less pixels and noise be bigger. And not seen any new test of new cameras in s35 mode against each other.

Two sad thing about this video: 1. The footage becomes very pixelated a few times, for example at 5:18 ☹. I suppose it's a "render with GPU" issue. I watch in 4K. 2. The volume of the voice drops several times when showing the footage, for example at 5:25. One very good aspect of this video: It shows the difference between different ISO values side by side, compared with other cameras. This is what I was looking for! Thank you for this video! You have a 👍 from me. For FX30 I know that you need to manually enable the dual ISO from settings. For the future, please double check the rendered video before uploading.
I like this camera...I have the A6400...I don't think the pic quality of the FX30 is much better but it may be more fun to use...I like the shots at night around downtown Toronto...I live here too. question...does it have a dedicated white balance button? that I can just press while pointing the camera at a white card to get the correct white balance? and also, if I connect an external monitor (NOT a recorder-just a monitor) to the camera via HDMI and while in 4k I press record, do both the external monitor AND the camera's LCD display video at the same time? I ask because with my a6400 (and also with the a7iii), the moment I press record in 4k, the external monitor displays video but the camera's LCD goes to black but maintains on screen display info like f stop etc BUT no video...I want both screens to display video while recording in 4k...thanks so much!

What’s the usability of fx30 with natural light and not using a denoiser due to time and turn around needs? Wondering if fx30 is good enough in lowlight without it.
Hey Kofi, great video! Thanks for doing all of these tests. I think there is definitely some weird stuff going on. With a second base ISO of 2500, the image at 2500 should be cleaner than 2000, and it isn't. That was the main point of my video and you also note that fact in your video. Here is what Sony defines: "Dual Base ISO function that provides two distinctly different base sensitivity levels. The low and high sensitivity levels have almost exactly the same noise levels and both have the same dynamic range." The noise at 2500 should be "almost exactly the same" as at 800. I know this language is a little vague, but its even noisier at 2500 than 2000 and that shouldn't be the case based on their own definition.
In the kit scenario I did notice it was a touch cleaner at 2000 vs 2500, in the more “lowlight” part close to the middle of the video , it isn’t , probably could use some dynamic range testing , but from using it more through the day i at least found it looks better at 2500, a base iso also would imply there’s the most DR at 800 and 2500, I don’t have fancy charts but I’m sure they probably called the second high base because there’s close to equal stops at2500
@@KofiYeboah Yeah, it's super weird. I'm glad other people are testing this out. I know that the dynamic range is similar at 800 and 2500. Gerald tested that and reported the results. I am just reporting on the noise and how it isn't cleaner at 2500 than 2000 which should be the case. Sony's own definition about dual base ISO includes dynamic range and noise. Both are included.

how did you compare a7iv with fx6? in the 12,800 scene, clearly fx6 had lower aperture than a7iv, the bokeh difference of the background is obvious. so, if you used a lower aperture on fx6 and such a big aperture for a7iv in comparison, of course 12,800 looked a lot better. am i wrong? if not, then maybe you would address this "error"..?
Looks like hanging on to my A7IV is a better option than the FX30. If I didn’t already have the A7IV I wouldn’t hesitate to pick up the FX30 though. On the other hand I’ve known for a whole that the FX6 is my dream camera for football highlights and seeing the ISO comparison here it leaves no doubt, that FX6 picture is next level.

An answer would be highly appreciated.
Yup that’s a post production thing
how did you compare a7iv with fx6? in the 12,800 scene, clearly fx6 had lower aperture than a7iv, the bokeh difference of the background is obvious. so, if you used a lower aperture on fx6 and such a big aperture for a7iv in comparison, of course 12,800 looked a lot better. am i wrong? if not, then maybe you would address this "error"..?
Same lens and I’m pretty sure I was at f2 or 2.2 in each , that being said objectively the fx6 would do a better job at 12,800 than the a7iv
It works if your camera is set to cine ei. Otherwise, you get a dual sensitivity
Oooh good find!
Wow I need to buy fx6 now ❤ around 1k
If you find one for 1000 god bless!
Some say she's still sitting there turning her head back and forth and holding that color checker.
Thumbnail is dope !!
Thanks homie ! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Your audio levels are jumping around in different sections of the video…might want to check out your upload.
Video had all sorts of issues, part two probably coming soon
very good comparison.
Thanks!
Didn’t know you had a channel! Haha nice to see that face again!
Wait again??
@@KofiYeboah haha I met you in London Ontario quite a few years back when filming with Joel/BOSS
@@bakerfx4968 Omg thats a throwback ! :D sorry my harddrive (brain) is broken, thank you man !
The FX6 for me has been a dream since I got it last year ! I have my 12 month review dropping soon 🙏🏾
thank you bro !
You're welcome!
RUclips compression destroyed the night time montage bruh...
The RUclips gods chose violence
Make sure you’re in 4K👍🏾
This girl is like Mona Lisa
😂
fx did way better with 12.800 iso and a 1.4 lens vs the other with a 5.6 lens 👍
Thanks for the video. P.S........ I said low light 💀😂
Haha caught slippin 🤣
250 is clean
bro... I said "lowlight" why you gotta be playing games with us

@@KofiYeboah no cap! but also this vid is no cap too, I love how you grade bro, subbed fr!
@@itsmarcocanlas ahaha my guy, thank you !
Your movie is sooo compressed that we cant judge the noise....
Name a better duo than Popeyes and an fx30
Yo honestly , I can’t find one😂
Man I came back to this video because of the new fx30 update. I have the a7siii and was wondering if it’s worth it to sell for the fx30 and pick up an fx6.
Nice.
Thanks !
When I hear Sony I think autofocus except for the ZV-1F which is a scam.
Luckily , none of my videos have that camera 😅
I say it low light
Yes I say it 😂
