I have been saving up to buy the FX30 and recently stumbled upon your content. BOY, I have been on a marathon of your videos. I hope your channel keeps growing. Your videos are concise and extremely useful. Keep it up brother 🦖
Sending a video message is HUGE and probably one of the most overlooked HACKS there is in getting business! I can't tell you how many people decided to take a meeting with me because I sent a video message, as opposed to a text/email, etc. People are very impressed with this type of communication - especially when it's a cold outreach - because video puts a name to the face and also builds up familiarity/trust right away!
Sweet stuff Kofi. It’s been a year or so since I’ve seen your channel and this is a great video to remind me how much value you bring to the community. I dont think I’ll ever call myself a filmmaker but for sure I’ll keep creating. Next year I want to work more on the “practice” of my gear rather than just switching through bodies to try and review 😂
Thanks, Kofi. So much good advice in this video. As an old guy from a photography background just getting into videography, I find I've adopted a lot of similar traits in developing a game plan for what I want to focus on in this new venture. I very much appreciate, and have gained so much from your videos as well as those from your guests. Oddly enough, and I don't think it came up too much in this clip, I really find myself dialing in audio as a major factor in my work. Of course, my projects are typically more tied to the music industry so a lot of that comes from the audible production side of the media. It's all a very intricate balance with lighting, quality video, content, and of course , knowing who you're trying to target. In any event, good stuff as always....... thanks for taking YOUR time to put this type of content out there for "Newb's" like me and, to be honest with you, I just love your style man. 👍
Good informative stuff in this video. Especially about lighting. Love how the Luts are named after Toronto Neighborhoods. Though you might have to create the most 'slowest fade-in to colour lut ever' if you were to call one the Eglington Crosstown.
Great video!!... Made me think back when I started up a while ago, and in my case the gear available was so expensive and out of reach that we had to find a company to develop a camera that we could use for our films, which ended up being the first digital camera that won an academy award for cinematography. A great adventure it was. And now, 16 years later if I had to start all over again... Hell, even at the pont I´m now, I´d get a couple of FX30 or any other affordable camera on the market to shoot a whole film or tv show and have fun getting my hands dirty rather than over spending in two steps of DR or superfluous features. Honestly the tools available now are just insane, even an iPhone is a top noch filmmaking tool.
I replyed to your tweet already, but wanted to comment here to add engagement for the video. This is great for me as I am just starting. Ive spent a ton of time watching those videos telling me what to buy and ready how to start. I feel like I learned the most from this video even though Im going with an entirely different system. Thank you for the great ideas!
@@KofiYeboah for sure! The main thing is people using the camera that works with their flow the best! The fx30s are fantastic cameras! Looking forward to more stuff from you!
@@KofiYeboah Kofi! Loved the video about your trip to Ghana. I misspoke, I should have reworded it: what do you use to record video and photo when on *vacation with your girlfriend/partner* sorry for confusion !
good video...my problem is sound...I read somewhere "video is for amateurs, sound is for professionals"....getting a good image these days with all these cameras is easy...sound not so much 🤥 I have seen a few videos on the XLR handle...even these people contradict one another...😐
Thank you Kofi ❤🇨🇦 the only channel for best advice. I just want to ask a quick question that on fx30 when you have small lenses like sigma 18-50 so how would I attach matte box or rig it up when the lenses are too small. You advise will be helpful.❤
@@KofiYeboah hey brother ❤️thanks for replying. Have you tried sigma 18-50, could we have a review of that if possible. How’s the image quality compared to full frame lenses
Kofi, you are a great filmmaker. I was always wondering if you can make the Sony FX30 video look just like the Red Komodo X video. I know Komodo has a global shutter and R3D raw has a lot more DR than Sony S-Log3. But if we try to edit FX30 video to look just like the Komodo video... Could you kindly make a video about that please? I really love the look of Red but there are times that I only bring Sony camera with me. So I wish I can make Sony footage look almost like Komodo. I wish all the best for you. Thanks.
I don’t think that’s necessary , the Sony looks great, and I don’t think making it look like something is not is going to fix that! Best thing to do is make your camera look the best it can, and if you want a Red Komodo look, rent a red Komodo 👍🏾
This is a very insightful video... I am wondering, how much would apply if you were starting to do filmmaking more as a hobby than a career? I left video-post production after college and went into IT because the working with clients was so soul crushing that I'd rather tell the stories I want and work a good job to finance it. BTW, IT clients are also soul crushing, but in a completely different way that my ego can handle.
I guess a hobbie, you’d just what whatever you’d like, there’s no risk really. You might have to self fund for resources, but essentially it’d be like hobby basketball I guess, just find a court, 5 friends and play 3 on 3
@kofiyeboah All these elements of your content make major sense!!! Especially with the color grading. I enjoy creating my own color grades than using LUTs from someone else. What I'm doing so far is creating LUTs for specific projects. Also, by only doing a few LUTs it gives you more flexibility in color grading based on the moods of scenes. At least that's what I plan on doing. And I make my own music, for my own projects anyway. So, the whole process for me is the most fun and engaging. Thanks as always for great content, Sir!!! 👍🏾
@@KofiYeboah I hear you. Me too, but I've learned the journey can be more enjoyable than the destination! When I figured out something, makes me want to climb on top of a roof and be like 🦸🏾♂ (Well, maybe not really get on a roof, but you know what I mean 🙂)
The music change thing is super annoying.. That's why it's so important to give a super rough edit with music and send it out for approval. Otherwise you are stuck doing an entire revision.
For real man. Makes me just want to keep the same cut and put a new song over it and deliver it that way lol. Thanks for all of your videos man.
