Nice video! Very helpful setting for the first time the FX30. Hope this helps: You can change the shutter mode to ANGLE (in exposure menu) to 180° and (in theory) it will always be "the right" shutter angle/speed no matter your fps; it will always be half (1/48th of a second for 24fps and so no) or double (if you look at it as speed 1/48 for 24fps).
Can you do a Video on how to match the Fx30 with the A7v video when duel shooting 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. I been trying to setup a A and B Cam with this and the color for slog seems off.

Excellent video. I have a settings question: How can I set the control wheel on the back of my FX30 to adjust ISO? I found a video on how to do it on the FX3, but the FX30 menu is different I have my A7Siii set up like this and I want this new camera to mirror that camera’s settings (for consistency of muscle memory), but I can’t figure out how to do it. Thanks for your help.
@@KofiYeboah it works if you click the ISO button at the top, but that’s an extra step I don’t have to do on my A7Siii. With that camera, I just turn the wheel to change the ISO. No need to click a button.
Thanks for this! You have some of the best content out there for the FX30. With memory recall we can set up a different profile for different frame rates and corresponding shutter? And use it as quick switch that works similarly to 180 degree shutter? Ex: Recall 1 - 24fps @ 1/50th, Recall 2 - 60fps @ 1/125

Hi Kofi. Thank you for this video. I'd like to know how much you can adjust the shutter speed in the Variable Shutter setting. Since you can't get a 1/48 shutter speed, how close can you get to that by using the variable shutter option? Also, does the camera offer 1/45 sec shutter?
Might be a silly question, but when you showcase all the Fn settings - do you have a way to actually go to the value like you show in the video, or are you just editing in your set up values for those specific functions? Thanks
@@KofiYeboah Each item on the Fn Menu you show, you instantly go to the value that it is set to. I was wondering whether you can go to that value from within that menu, or if it is just footage of you showing that Fn Menu item and then a cut to the actual sub-menu where you can change said value... If that makes sense. I'm also facing a struggle with the Memory Recall. It kind of lost its purpose for me since it seems to "block" my White Balance that I've set at that time. I thought to put like 25FPS 1/50SHTR SLOG3 on MR1 50FPS 1/100 SHTR SLOG3 on MR2 etc... But If my White Balance happened to be on 5600K when I set my settings on MR1 then once I go to MR1 it's always set to 5600 and I can't change JUST that so switching quickly between mode for different scenarios is impossible. It's only possible to do this for very static and specific situations that are literally bit by bit the same.

Hey bro how come i can’t select my PP when I’m on Cine Ei? It only highlights it where I can select it when I turn my log settings to “off.” Am I doing something wrong or what?
Hey... I have a question if you use adobe for post processing... I just got a fx30 a few weeks ago & was introduced to the feature "auto detect log" that works for SLOG footage... every time I import my log footage in adobe its slog and very much so still looks SLOG.. but in properties it reads out to me as a REC.709 clip (not auto bringing me into rec.709 as the feature is being promoted) The only way to quickly get it out of log is to interoperate the footage and bypass it over to slog3... I can't help but think something is wrong with my fx settings wise although I can't think of a reason... ive tried regular slog3...slog3 with cine... I've went into picture profile 1 and set them as logs outside of the traditional log screen... nothing I do seems to work & I can't for the life of me understand why... I'm praying someone can help me understand what's going on to a certain extent because its driving me nuts thinking something is either wrong with adobe or my fx30...

To shoot in log, I understand I how to change it in “log settings,” yada yada yada. But what’s the deal with Picture Profile via Exposure menu? Can’t I also shoot in log going this route? When I change to log shooting in log settings, picture profile is greyed out. Is picture profile just so you can plug in an additional monitor? Can someone explain this to me? Sorry for being a dingbat. 🙏🙏
All the info here is fantastic. But...the lack of space, breathing room, in the vocals is exhausting. It doesn't give any time to actually think about what you are saying and absorb it. If I do, I've already missed half of whatever you are saying next. I'm a professional instructor and know a little bit about absorbing information. My fingers are numb from pausing the video and backing it up to hear it again and think about it. Don't get me wrong, this is great. It just needs...space. ;-)

@@ailo4x4 if I talk slow everyone loses their mind, and i naturally talk fast, these types of videos are kinda a “learn and reference” most people (I think) didn’t watch it all the way in one go, they’d pick parts of it that applied and used that ! Can i shoot using an sd v90 card in 4k 60fps XAVC S and S-I using slog3/S-cinetone 4:2:2 10 bit ? Currently i own a 6400 but gratefully i out grown it and want to get the fx30 so i can color grade my footage and get more professional looking videos.

When using PP1 with slog 3 and cine etc it doesn't show slog 3 at top of display but when you turn on log shooting in settings then flex or cine it displays slog3 at top of screen .. when using PP 1 is it still fully slog3 even though it's not showing slog3 at top of display?
@@KofiYeboah okay so to confirm picture profile 1 when turning on slog 3 is still slog 3 it's just not showing slog3 at top so it's like same as flexible ISO mode without having flexible ISO turned on

Did not know focus breathing compensation worked on Manual focus then I can assume some of those sigma or 7artisans cine glass that have focus breathing issues FX30 can ameliorate the problem. Talk about about FX30 coming in clutch 🔥🔥🔥

The way I see it, unless you plan on shooting in XAVC S-I or XAVC S-I DCI (i.e. the highest quality codecs), there's really not much of a point to getting the FX30 to begin with. If all you're looking for is "better than a smartphone", but not necessarily cinematic quality, there's no point in getting a cinema camera. Just get a Sony 6400 (or a 6600 if you want built-in stabilization) and you'll get what you need.
Nice Video. I really want to try the custom PP to get less noise on the second base ISO. Such a bummer that it's not possible to customize the picture profile when using the log shooting mode / Cine EI. At the same time its also a huge bummer that the ISO button can't be set to just switch between the base ISO when not shooting in log mode. Aaaaand another bummer is that the AWB L (lock) feature is not available in Cine EI. I don't want to use AWB so it doesn't shift while recording, but to set it up quickly the AWB L feature allows for a super efficient workflow. Grey card is just not viable on an event with multiple areas with different lights and stuff. It seems there is always something stupid / uneccessary
@@KofiYeboah Right, that just works with log shooting off and using a Slog3 PP too. I really don't get it. Would be so easy to allow AWB L while not recording in Cine EI Mode, since there is absolutely not difference then dialing it in manually except it is quicker. That's similar to the fact that ever since I got my first Sony Alpha camera many years and generations ago, when using those memory slots, one regular and one for slow mo for example, you can't set a custom white balance any more. Seriously WTF? That is such a crazy incomprehensible nonsens. Same for not beeing able to switch between base ISOs whenever I want instead of beeing force to dial through all those irrelevant numbers. Same with shutter angle and the list goes on.
@@KofiYeboah Also I have to say it has nothing to do with the price. FX3/6 is no better when it comes to those things. Just a lot of stuff that somebody decided that never uses cameras, it seems.
@@SCHAUDENLUCAS the fx6 could benefit from a better WB tool 100%, and the clip scrubbing is kinda dumb and the top handle thing, outside of that imo I love it!
Wonder if someone here can help. I have the FX30 but have some issues with baked in LUTs. I'm not able to use baked in LUTs while shooting S-log footage since the Picture Profiles are blocked whenever you shoot S-log. Can you still shoot log combined with baked in LUTs or not?
14:16 "STABALIZATION" eh? stabby mcstab-stab not staBILIzation like stabilize it? I don't have a bayonet mount on my FX30 but you could probably get one for yours, if that's your jam. 🤭

Can someone help me 😫 when I record my footage it looks perfectly fine with the color balance but as soon as I play it back in the camera monitor, it looks really warm. Why is that?
h265 is actually easier to work with , especially davinci due to the new update also, the algorithm is much better for h265 compared to h264 ( coding tree units vs macroblocks)

Should be the same? Just click the iso button and should be fine ? I make mine my top wheel though if I’m being honest

Hey man, first of all, great vid, i have a question i hope you can answer and i keep getting mixed answers from alot of creators.
Can i shoot using an sd v90 card in 4k 60fps XAVC S and S-I using slog3/S-cinetone 4:2:2 10 bit ?
Currently i own a 6400 but gratefully i out grown it and want to get the fx30 so i can color grade my footage and get more professional looking videos.
So I tried mine and 4k60 XAVCS is fine , all intra you can shoot at 24fps,👍🏾 I was using an Angelbird v90

For RUclips/social medial purpose work i think XACV S can be color graded just fine

When using PP1 with slog 3 and cine etc it doesn't show slog 3 at top of display but when you turn on log shooting in settings then flex or cine it displays slog3 at top of screen .. when using PP 1 is it still fully slog3 even though it's not showing slog3 at top of display?
Yup, log shooting in Cine ei is ONLY available in s-log3; you can’t use Cine in something like s Cinetone for example
@@KofiYeboah okay so to confirm picture profile 1 when turning on slog 3 is still slog 3 it's just not showing slog3 at top so it's like same as flexible ISO mode without having flexible ISO turned on

Did not know focus breathing compensation worked on Manual focus then I can assume some of those sigma or 7artisans cine glass that have focus breathing issues FX30 can ameliorate the problem. Talk about about FX30 coming in clutch 🔥🔥🔥

The way I see it, unless you plan on shooting in XAVC S-I or XAVC S-I DCI (i.e. the highest quality codecs), there's really not much of a point to getting the FX30 to begin with. If all you're looking for is "better than a smartphone", but not necessarily cinematic quality, there's no point in getting a cinema camera. Just get a Sony 6400 (or a 6600 if you want built-in stabilization) and you'll get what you need.
Good thing these companies offer choices so people can make their decisions for themselves 👍🏾
Nice Video. I really want to try the custom PP to get less noise on the second base ISO.
Such a bummer that it's not possible to customize the picture profile when using the log shooting mode / Cine EI. At the same time its also a huge bummer that the ISO button can't be set to just switch between the base ISO when not shooting in log mode. Aaaaand another bummer is that the AWB L (lock) feature is not available in Cine EI. I don't want to use AWB so it doesn't shift while recording, but to set it up quickly the AWB L feature allows for a super efficient workflow. Grey card is just not viable on an event with multiple areas with different lights and stuff.

I really don't get it. Would be so easy to allow AWB L while not recording in Cine EI Mode, since there is absolutely not difference then dialing it in manually except it is quicker. That's similar to the fact that ever since I got my first Sony Alpha camera many years and generations ago, when using those memory slots, one regular and one for slow mo for example, you can't set a custom white balance any more. Seriously WTF? That is such a crazy incomprehensible nonsens. Same for not beeing able to switch between base ISOs whenever I want instead of beeing force to dial through all those irrelevant numbers. Same with shutter angle and the list goes on.
@@KofiYeboah Also I have to say it has nothing to do with the price. FX3/6 is no better when it comes to those things. Just a lot of stuff that somebody decided that never uses cameras, it seems.

Wonder if someone here can help. I have the FX30 but have some issues with baked in LUTs. I'm not able to use baked in LUTs while shooting S-log footage since the Picture Profiles are blocked whenever you shoot S-log. Can you still shoot log combined with baked in LUTs or not?
Go to your log settings and toggle “embed lut” on 👍🏾

h265 is actually easier to work with , especially davinci due to the new update
also, the algorithm is much better for h265 compared to h264 ( coding tree units vs macroblocks)
I had so many issues on my intel devices back in the day and abandoned it entirely
